In my opinion, it's not normal. From their SOP, it's probably normal. When you file a dispute, include this in.
Then it's a mistake on their end isn't it? Even stronger case for you.
Pay first and file dispute form is normal. You have a strong case, and even stronger if you have a voice recording that they instructed you to allow the transaction through.

thanks for the replies, but now it is certainly a drag, to get the refund.
i sent the email for dispute on saturday afternoon, now after 48 hours still no reply.

additional comment:
even the HSBC operator said, ITUNES hacking is common now but never say can easily get back hacked money or not.

You are welcome.

Tip of the day : If you don't want hassles with disputes, don't save your credit card details on your phone/account. If your warez save it automagically, manually remove it.

From my experience with several banks, emails are normally slow. I did a websearch for you, you can try https://www.hsbc.com.my/content/dam/hsbc/my...ispute-form.pdf. Or you can try searching HSBC's site. Did you use this form or just a normal email?

QUOTE
NB: Kindly complete and return the dispute form via our facsimile number: 03-2179 6566 or e-mail to chargebackdisputecpd@hsbc.com.my within 3 business days from the day the cardholder/customer contact the Bank to enable the Bank to proceed with dispute resolution failing which may result in delay and/or result in you being deprived of the right to recovery of the above disputed transaction(s) amount(s) from the merchant via Chargeback processes.

You should never save credit card information, client or server, unless you are PCI compliant. PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. You can view their website here. The standard of which we are all held to when handling credit cards is the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

i already submitted the dispute form using the one u linked as advised by the HSBC helpline.
but the disclaimer saying need to lodge the report 3 days after the incident is quite concerning since i only lodge report after 5 days, since HSBC asked me to wait for the transaction to pass through.
thanks for the tip. i will not put any CC number to ITUNES anymore i guess.

1. I remember I read 3 business days.

2. They told you to wait. If there is any problems as a result of this, ask them to replay the "your conversation may be recorded for training and auditing (or whatever) purposes".

3. Save or snapshot your phone logs with HSBC to prove you've already reported it instantly.

BTW, I think there's also some options to deactivate the Card-Not-Present transactions (I don't recall seeing this with HSBC, but I did not really explore it). You can do this to cards you don't use for online transactions just to avoid unnecessary problems.

You are welcome.

If you plan to use their online banking and don't already have an account, make sure you register there and get the security device. Otherwise you will have to go twice.

Follow the instructions to activate your card for the $25 cash back. Then register.

You are going to need that if you plan to do online banking with your card. If just for normal usage then you don't need to. You can't even add a payee without that security device thingy.

As usual, t&c applies.

5. This Promotion is applicable to all HSBC ongoing credit card acquisition campaigns, excluding the RM250

If the link above does not work, go back to the main link and look see under "What is the difference between Login with Security Device and Login with passwords? Click here for quick assistance." Don't trust the Add Payer option under Password. It is not available.

First time free, replacement (if you lose or damage it) $50. Like I said, if you don't plan to pay anything with your HSBC card through their online banking, then you don't need it. Hassle it is, but you won't lose money if your phone is hacked. But if you start saving your card details on your phone and computer, the risks increase.

The 8% cashback is for transaction until 31 Dec or until further notice (forever)?

In the T&C sounds like until 31 Dec 2018 only.
