I called up to cancel my card. They will call you back within 5 working days and offer you. RM25 SST will charge on your month stated in your card. You may call HSBC to ask even no intend to cancel. Tell them you got few CC and HSBC offer any the RM25 rebate (since u heard from friends who get this offer) instead do cancellation and re-activation.

QUOTE(Min Hyo @ Oct 25 2018, 09:15 AM)
This offer need to request or will be automatically get? By the way the rm 25 when it will charge us?

I advice you to do it before charge which much easier to deal than after charge. SST is compulsory to pay to government. They can just ignore you after charge. Just give them a call.

QUOTE(Min Hyo @ Oct 25 2018, 09:54 AM)
After they charge rm 25 only call or call first before they charge?

No harm to call them. I was offered RM25 rebate with 3 swap within the 45 days. Rebate will be credited to us up to 4 months. I called them early Oct 2018 to cancel before my card going to charge SST in Nov 2018.

Tell HSBC that you wanna get RM25 rebate which offer to some users. If they don't give, tell them next round you sure will cancel the card. Lol..... they will fill your query and marketing team will call you within next 5 business days.

My amanah platinum card kena sst yesterday. Aiyoo..

It only counted when they give you offer. Ask them instead wait them to offer. They don't know what you want.

QUOTE(nattan415 @ Nov 6 2018, 05:35 PM)
My card got charged RM25 on the 30 Oct as well. I called them up just now and they didn't mention about the RM25 rebate at all, and the CS was having very shitty attitude. I swiped petrol already as well, and online transactions.....

Yes... 2nd wave is correct. Lol... The first officer just lazy to file for you.

QUOTE(aska01 @ Nov 7 2018, 05:11 PM)
Hi there, I called HSBC before I saw your post in this forum. I was asking for the waiver and the staff refused to do it for me. Anyhow, I called them again after saw your post and asked them directly regarding the RM25 offer rebate. The other staff told me that he will put up the request in the system and his marketing colleague will call me in the next 72 hours. Let's see what is the outcome.

Thanks for sharing us the info here, appreciate it.

I never get charged on my HSBC Amanah which actively use. I assume will be the same to any HSBC card.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 16 2019, 01:44 PM)
I supposed it will be charged and waived at the same time. I cancelled the Amanah card before reaching one year so cannot validate.

I got VS recently also but hardly use. Focus on my Standard Chartered Just One which got better cashback.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 16 2019, 06:13 PM)
I see. I only ensure every month RM 1 charged to my VS card. 😂

They only can waive AF. No bank can waive SST. Since HSBC already give you rebate/cash back with conditions, just accept it.

QUOTE(L3SME @ Jul 13 2021, 10:08 AM)
Haven't come across this situation, usually cancel the card before anniversary. AF and SST charged to my card in this month statement, the card last used was back in May 2021, no transaction after AF/SST. Called CS request for waiver, she said only can waive AF, still have to paid SST because already charge and this is to paid to BNM. Then i request to cancel the card, the same answer CS replied, still need to pay SST. My understanding is bank should allow cancel the card without need to pay AF\SST as long as no transaction made after the AF\SST charge to your card, does this not apply to HSBC? Now the only way CS told me to get rid of AF/SST is pay the statement amount to avoid interest, AF reversal will only reflect in next month statement. Swipe 3 times within 45 days, SST reversal will credit back within 7-8 weeks. Anyone have different experiences than this?

Yes but HSBC already offer you cash back/credit back RM25 with conditions. You still not happy? If so, you can fight with HSBC. It may track months to settle the issue.

QUOTE(L3SME @ Jul 13 2021, 10:37 AM)
so meaning customer still have to pay SST even they want to cancel the card, even no transaction made after SST fee charged? it will be too late to ask for cancellation if it charge to your card?

I didn't said you are wrong. Do read carefully.

QUOTE(L3SME @ Jul 13 2021, 10:55 PM)
It's not just a matter of happy or not happy, it's about your right as consumer. I am seeking clarification if that's is correct process. As some already pointed out with proof, what cs told me was wrong. I hope you have certain ground when providing advice to others and not to mislead them if you are unsure.
