As said:
The "large" amt will differ based on the banks, the tenure etc.  biggrin.gif
For BR, 50k and above can nego. But at one time, they set it at 100k and above. So depends on how bad the bank wanted the FD.  biggrin.gif Their nego rate also depends on the tenure.  smile.gif

For other banks, may be 100k or few hundred k then only can nego. Sometimes they may tell you this is already the best rate, no more increase possible though you put in 300k and above.  biggrin.gif

What!!! I never knew we can negotiate the rates. vmad.gif

How to do it? Just talk to the officer at the counter? hmm.gif

Does this apply to promotional FD?

Same la. Guess ones need to be priority member or like bbgoat said, ammount must be "big" and I guess not all banks will want to nego the rates (those cheapskate banks)

Haha, I was thinking of adding one more point and then you asked.

If the counter staff said no and your amt is "large", talk to the officer, asst BM or BM. The counter girl may just say no but the higher level is the one that can say yes.

Promotional FD still can nego based on what I said. But some bank will say this is the best rate. biggrin.gif

No need to be PB to negotiate. Even UOB can negotiate on top of promo rate. It is definitely not a cheapskate bank. tongue.gif Foreign banks still can try your luck but amt has to be "large". biggrin.gif

If like that :

A = Rm30k
B = RM30k
A + B = RM30k

three accounts = RM90k

How much profits can get in 3 months ?

Say, if let's say there's a fd which gives 4.5% for 3 months, then if one wants to enjoy 4.5% for another 3 months, one just need to withdraw and put it in again. So by doing 4x, is it = to 12 months at 4.5% or lower??

assumptions for simulation-sake:

1) 1 month = 30 days, 3 months = 90 days, 12 months = 360 days
2) "withdraw and put it in again" = fund only, excluding interest gained from 1st-3rd placement

then, the interest gained from 4X 3mth @ 4.5% p.a. = 1X 12mth @ 4.5% p.a.

if include interest, you'll gain few ringgit more.

Affin. 4.33%. Just when their 2 years promo 4.38% finish, they come out with 15 months 4.33%. Some more protected by PIDM.  rclxms.gif  icon_idea.gif
Wah bro. don't know wei.  unsure.gif Good enough for me if they tell me 4.33% without stupid CASA stuff. I just put. Never ask them anything else or request for more. I am guessing is like all previous promo, affin will credit the interest + principal into your affin bank saving account.

15 months lol = thats longer.

what rate is the 6 months one?

Last time I asked, they said only if more than 6 mths no new FD placed, then acct will be closed.  biggrin.gif

The UOB operation manager (she should be old virgin woman lah...) was very "Guai Lun"... sweat.gif
Few years ago when I opened my first FD in UOB, maybe I was not Leng Chai to her, she checked my
CTOS (I saw my CTOS print-out on her table).

Need SA in UOB for those FD promo that pays 6 mthly interest (last year Oct promo). Also I was told if we need to do RENTAS or OTC IBG, need SA (probably as a bridge).  biggrin.gif
*
No, I do not have UOB SA..
So far I have never placed UOB FD that needs SA... biggrin.gif

In UOB about 3 years ago, I RENTAS out the matured FD to CB then used CB cheque to place new FD so as to get the promo rate (fresh fund required). RENTAS cost me RM9 at that time. Then later UOB knew the tricks of customer and suggested for me to just top up matured FD with 10k and get the promo rate. biggrin.gif
