The bracket is preventing your normal way of biting, but the way you bite is not right.. just wait for the braces to fix your teeth alignment.

Elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion.
It very depends on each individual condition.

Guys I've had dental braces about 8 years ago, took it off after two years and has been told to wear my retainers every night since then. The thing is, I stopped wearing it regularly after three years and now I've completely ignored that piece of plastic. Recently, my concern towards the arrangement of my teeth bloomed again, and I've noticed that my right central incisor teeth has moved and that there's a small gap in between both central incisors.

I wanted to start wearing my retainers again, in fact I've wore it last night, and my oh my, it was a very very painful night to go through. My question is, you guys have any tips on starting to wear the retainers again after a long time of slacking off? Perhaps I should wear it a day full for the starting weeks?

it is possible to use your old retainer to close the gaps.... bring it to your orthodontist for adjustment..... after the gap closes, you gotta maintain it by wearing it every night for LIFE.......

Some articles mentioned about using soft bristle toothbrush and brushing may help, but doesn't seem worked for me.
I just exercise the gums by moving up down and applying light pressure using the tongue

from http://www.livestrong.com/article/180258-w...s-swollen-gums/

Soothe the Gums

Drs. Gardner also note that massaging the gums can relieve swelling and pain. They suggest using a soft toothbrush with no toothpaste to gently massage both gums and teeth for about 30 minutes. Dr. Donnelly suggests rinsing often with a saltwater solution of 1/2 teaspoon salt to a glass of warm water. The saltwater cleans the gums while decreasing inflammation.

Long time didn't enter this thread.

I am currently pulling my upper canine, and both right and left are about 90% pulled backward. After that, the rest of upper teeth should be pull backward as well and those process are usually faster than canine alone; based on my orthodontist.

Meanwhile on the lower part, the canine not even aligned yet. Need to complete the alignment phase first before pulling phase.

Hope can complete the whole process within the next 8-10 months.

How many teeth have you extracted (including wisdom teeth) before starting the pulling? Any space to pull backwards?
