QUOTE(jvilous @ Jun 26 2013, 06:00 PM) Putting on braces painful or not? Painful, not really. It just the term that always be heard from non-user. Its more on uncomfortable. Painful, as Shahrul90 said, in some cases where your orthodontic need to extract your tooth or within first few days of newly replaced wire. Few pills of paracetamol (when needed) simply will solve the issue

QUOTE(shahrul09 @ Jun 26 2013, 10:36 PM) can i know how much nid to pay for da metallic braces in msia. just want to make comparison.coz i get it done in India bcoz i study there. How much in India? Locally, if I am not mistaken, should be around 5-8k for complete set of course. But my suggestion is that, if you will stay abroad for a quite some time (minimum around 15 months), please do it in India, as you will be needing frequent appointment with your orthodontist to align the teeth. Also to ensure your communication between your orthodontist is not an obstacle. Braces is a long treatment plan, and you will be needing to ask quote some questions directly to your doctor.

I have to extract 4 of my tooth, while my friend had no extraction at all.

Aloha! I'm really pretty new here and obviously i've read this topic from 1 to 51 and it's now 3:54AM. I'm looking for a good yet reasonable orthodontist that is somewhere near my work site which is in Uptown5. In this way, I can arrange visit schedules even during my lunch break. My 2 upper front middle teeth are beginning to have gap and this is because I do have a missing mini molar tooth at the left side. I am only looking into options between usual metal braces or self-ligating braces. And so finally, on the 4th July, I had my appointments with: 1) Dr. Lee Ching Weng of PJ Orthodontic Specialist & i was told i need at least 2 years for the braces, Damon type, includes retainers & moulding. He required to extract 1 tooth from top layer and 2 teeth from bottom layer. Extractions and x-ray he will endorse me to other clinic ( what a friendly dental connections and relations! ). I didnt ask anymore on payment terms because I wanted to just end the discussion and speed out from his clinic, why?, because I dont like his place, kindda old, has a yucky smell and i really felt its not so hygienic. -- Consultation is Free Of Charge!
2) Dr. Tan Ching Ching of ProCare - well she is nice and seems she cares for her patients.her package offer shall be 2 years treatment, usual metal braces, with 2-3 teeth extraction, scaling/cleaning and with mini screws on all molar teeth -- RM7,800 if it's In-Ovation R ( same with Damon ) + same package with metal braces is RM8,400 if it's In-Ovation Advance ( clear type & same with Damon clear ) + same package with metal braces is RM9,300 and all treatment needs x-ray which is not included yet. X-ray cost will be discuss once I agree to proceed with the treatment. Also, the use of mini screws and extraction of 2 lower teeth are subject to x-ray results. -- Consultation Fee is RM50.
5th July i had appointment with :
1) Dr. Leong Hoong Oon of V-Care Dental Surgery -- mmmmm, the clinic is really squeaky clean and it has a touch of professionalism tho!..And so Dr. Leong asked me why I need to have the braces and I told him about the gaps that begins to develop and I wanted to have my teeth to pullback in even just a little. Wow!! my world stop when after he did the checking, he said no need for braces but he will recommend fillers in the gap in between 2 front upper teeth and this will end up my 2 front teeth bit bigger and wider more! and the space due to missing tooth, he recommends to have implants instead, which I said NO to it. And guess what, he recommended me to their clinic's ortho specialist which is Dr. Tan Ching Ching of ProCare as he refused to accept my case because he said I need to have a surgery to fix my gums because its a bit thick that causes my teeth to portrude and so even if i had braces treatment the the teeth will move back in a little and close the gaps but my gums still remains the same, so he doesnt want to accept my case if I will not consider gum surgery as well. what a coincidence and a bad news for me. and I just remained silent about it..Dr. Leong didnt asked me to pay consultation fees because he recommended me instead to see Dr. Tan Ching Ching.....Fine...
2) Dr. Sia Chee Khoon of Uptown Dental Surgery, he quoted RM6-7,000 ( braces are not Damon nor In-Ovation but he said it is similar to both ) includes 1 tooth extraction upper part to move back in all the teeth and to close all gaps. Extraction of 2 teeth from the bottom will depend on the result after 3 months of wearing the braces. the price includes moulding and braces. X-ray he gave me an endorsement letter thru KPJ Damansara Specialist and tooth extraction cost is also not included in the price he gave.. Consultation fee is RM30
Now, I am planning to visit Dr. Reuben of White Smile reason being were the good comments i've read from this forum. For now, Dr. Tan Ching Ching is on my list, if Dr. Reuben will give better positive heads up...I might probably proceed under White Smile ( but is anyone can help me out by giving any recent ball park figure of damon or In-Ovation braces from Dr. Reuben ).
Also, 3 months ago, I had a consultation visit at Dr. How's clinic in Bangsar Village, it was not Dr. How who attended to me but a different dentist, i was told that it is best for me to have the x-ray and the mouldings that same day so that once Dr. How is back in the clinic, he can quickly review the x-ray result and moulding, prior to my next visit on seeing him. X-ray, mouldings and consultation slashed my pocket with a cost of RM600!!!!..moreso, until now, I havent had the chance to visit Dr. How because my work schedules collides with his availability in the clinic. Everytime he is free, I have overseas task to attend to and if I am free, he is not in the clinic even prior schedules will be given to her receptionist. And I think last month, when the receptionist called me up, I frankly told the girl that I wish not to commence seeing again Dr. How because I foresee the schedules will become a heavy stone in between patient and orthodontist, thus this will create major problem during the treatment and will surely prolong the treatment....so there goes my RM600... and I asked the Recep on the approximate price for braces and was told the price starts at RM8,000 --- now if this is metal or Damon.. I have no Idea!!..
I need to have braces soon...but I am confused now... Please...is their someone who had a very good braces treatment result and the price is reasonable enough and the orthodontist is always available...please let me know...

QUOTE(BelowAverage @ Jul 13 2010, 12:24 AM) in penang is only 3-4k I did mine at Looi orthodist for 3.5k wore it for 4 and a half year, going to take it off next month QUOTE(PrettyLaidback @ Oct 23 2010, 12:40 AM) I paid MYR 3800 for traditional braces treatment, MYR 250 for X-ray and dental mold at Looi Orthodontic Clinic. MYR 110 for teeth extraction at an unknown dental clinic. My teeth before orthodontic treatment were well-arranged, but I had an overbite. Braces do help me in correcting my teeth structure, look better at least. I'm taking them off very soon. Hi just want to ask, does Dr Looi include cleaning of teeth in his package???? Or you have to go to a dentist to get ur teeth clean every year????

When you are at Dr Reuben's clinic you can ask to see his before and after photos of his treatment. My sister found his treatment to be very good, and honestly she needed to retake the MALAYSIAN IC card photo again because she looks different!!!!! (maybe face become slimmer.... ha ha). As far as i know he works full time......
I think the whitesmile orthodontic clinic also has a facebook page, i don't have the link, just search.... got some info from time to time....

I consulted Dr. Pang (Bdr Sri Permaisuri). Cost for braces (self-lig) is RM 5.5k while metal is RM4.5k (excluding x-ray- RM99 (at Tung Shin), extraction (60-80/tooth), mold (40) & scaling (60). Looking forward to install brackets next Monday. Located walk-distance to my apartment, best thing - from 10am-7pm (mon-friday) and 10-5pm (saturday). No need extraction, install first, check and decide which tooth is not align, then decide to treat or extract. so far, 3 appt; 1st for restoration of my first left molar, 2nd for consultation and 3rd to get mold for next Monday appt. About 10-25 minutes waiting time.... no idea about his portfolio, checked his customers doing orthodontic about 80 people.... no idea what to worry next... Another clinic nearby, 4 tooth must extract, scared to death even i ask for damon braces ...... This post has been edited by LookingforHome: Aug 2 2013, 01:13 PM
