I just knew that teeth braces at my study place is only less than RM 4k (LE 5,500) and the quality is like 8-10k in Malaysia.

Not to mention all the complication from the process are fully included within the payment.

You can put on braces if you have limited budget too. Go for gov sector. Or else you can try Dr How Bangsar where you can pay by instalment.

I'd heard it will be years of waiting list till reaching your turn.

Anyone here have an experience with Invisalign? I was diagnosed with simple case of bimaxillary protrusion and my orthodontic suggesting me to go for Invisalign since I have a special plan earlier this year.

What concern me the most is its effeciency comparing to standard (metallic/ceramic) braces.

Self instigating vs ceramic,  which is more costly?  And which gives the fastest result?
*
The fastest result should be nominated by metallic braces, compared to ceramic respectively; since the same in material used between wires and pads(?) will enhance the movement that needed for teeth retraction. It is relatively cheap too, comparing to ceramic. The major downside is of course, you have to sacrifice the cosmetic aspect for that.

The different should be subjectively vary starting from 3 months onward, depending on your teeth disarrangement and adherence to dentist's appointment.

Whatever a removable appliance can or cannot do, Invisalign works just the about same. It can never fully replace bracers.

In your case, if 'bodily movement' is indicated then Invisalign is not able to produce such movement. to fix bimax malocclusion, extraction of premolars are most usually indicated (to gain space for tipping movements of your teeth), and this aligners cannot keep tooth in it's position well enough during space closure.
*
I just completed my dental impression using a different material yesterday to send to the lab for creating a tray. My treatment plan requires 30 tray within 13 months in order to make a planned retraction. The first tray shall arrive approximately 10 days from today. Quite excited, apart from the fact that I will lost 4 teeth soon.

It should be no problem to go for Invasalign in my case, just the major different between Invasalign and conventional braces are mostly (i) cost required and (ii) slightly longer time because it purely depend on patient's adherence to wear it while conventional braces is fixed on your teeth.

Also may I know the courses of your information regarding these aspects? Is it from working experiences or reading; because I might need your kind advise from time to time now. 13 months is not a short period of time sweat.gif

Hi,

I was wondering, how much would Invasalign cost. I was a metal braces wearer during my high school days and after years of diligence and pain, i did the stupidest thing every braces-wear should never do - which is to neglect wearing the retainer and when it broke, i didnt get it replaced.

Some time ago, i noticed my teeth moved again =_= so much for wearing braces before! and i'm actually thinking of getting invasalign. All i know it's expensive, but how expensive is expensive? Can someone also recommend me where i should go to get invasalign?

Thanks!
*
From my survey, it widely range starting from RM 13,000 and up to RM 25,000 for complete treatment plan.

Please do correct if I am wrong.

unfortunately my knowledge on Invisalign is very limited to journal publications only.

but I can always consult my other colleagues who are into this product if you ever need any.

just be disciplined and put them on according to the schedule and all will be well!
*
Yes, Invisalign is relatively VERY new compared to its previous procedures. Its quite hard to find a second opinion to strengthen my trust that it will be okay to try it since most of the reviews are well enough to make one to try; internationally speaking .

I will create a new dedicate thread soon after receiving my first tray soon, and let me know if any of your colleague study/know well about this ya! notworthy.gif

Ahhh my Invisalign was canceled. The company is currently overwhelmed with order and they decided to NOT providing all my 30 trays altogether but 5-10 trays in few months, which is very risky since the treatment plan is very expensive and anything could happened before receiving all the trays; thus my orthodontist decided to cancel the order and I choose simple metallic braces as an alternative.

Now currently wearing a rubber separator in both lower back teeth. Feeling quite a discomfort.... sweat.gif

Now I'd ask my friend to give me IM painkiller before crashing to bed. This gonna be a long, painful week.

ahha, 90% of my patients with regular extractions do not even get PCM.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Not even PCM? Wow, impressive. Maybe it have a difference between extracting a diseased tooth with healthy tooth?

It had been 36 hours since the extraction, yet the pain is still here. Is it normal? I'd had a bad fever too yesterday, could be due to change in season.

Just want to update you on this, the severe pain that last for around 3 days is due to infection of gum. It became inflamed, swollen and having a bad smell.

Once been diagnosed, 3* daily of Flumox conveniently eradicate the infection.

hi all.... i'm 28years old now and thinking want to wear braces to correct my teeth, can you all share with me your experience, pros and cons?
price? i google search some bracelet looks transparent and some got metal gold/silver on the teeth... what is the different?

thanks
*
Hi,

The pro are highly depend on your need and allocation of budget, especially when deciding on which one you have to choose (metallic the cheapest, invisible tray is the most expensive). For me age is not really a significant matter, but if you performed this treatment during a younger age, you able to enjoy the result for a longer time biggrin.gif

Cons are, if for metallic, the (i) scary thought of removing 4 healthy teeth, (ii) multiple oral ulcer on the first few weeks because your lips are adapting with the metallic bracket and for some (iii) they feel embarassed to going out with braces on their smile. To be honest, I don't think it is that bad, some people tend to think it as a fashion.

Anyone did braces due to underbite? Is it supposed to be more painful than normal straightening?

Based on a rough survey among my colleague, it mostly about the same.

David Orthodontics, Dr Subra

I'm 21 years old Male. My braces journey start on August 2012.

My teeth before braces,

[attachmentid=3465296]
Upper teeth crooked, lower teeth always perfect for me. Somehow in picture look a bit crooked, but my family always say my lower teeth look perfect.

August 2012
Went to the clinic, mold, X-RAY. Dr just tell you lil bit info about your teeth. RM200

September 2012
Consultation RM100, after consultation you have to decide whether you want to have braces or not. If yes, you have to pay deposit. Total cost for braces is  RM6000 including retainer. Doctor put braces on my teeth, there is 4 teeth left without bracket on. This 4 teeth is for extraction. I have crossbite. Doctor told me that I have to wear for 1 1/2 year. Doctor put something at the last teeth which cause me couldn't chew and close my mouth and it's eff pain! I was regret right after I step out from the clinic why I do such stupid decision to torture myself. LOL

Photo after braces put on
[attachmentid=3465295]

October 2012
Extraction left side, RM80 each tooth. upper and lower premolar removed. The reason doctor only extract 1 side is because the another side is for you to eat.

After 2weeks another side.

November 2012
Installment start, I pay RM1600 for deposit so my monthly installment is RM250.

Fast forward to now, MAY
My teeth is a lot straight than before and I feel my face look more define now. lol

Photo of NOW (I know it's gross that my teeth is so dirty and yellow now.. but you will know this after you had your braces that you can't prevent your teeth become yellowish even though you brush zillion time a day.

[attachmentid=3465294]

For the first few month I do have ulcer, but wax really helps a lot. umm... I don't know what else to say.. anything want to know can PM me or ask me here  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  sorry if I reply late because I'm not active forumer.

Last but not least, I want to thank all the pro and ex-bracesian here that post a lot review and tips at this thread. It really help me a lot!

SORRY FOR MY POOR GRAMMAR! biggrin.gif
*
Congratulation mate! The differences between before and after your treatment is worth the pain, I see.

How long do you need to wear a retainer? It should be triple the period of your braces, based on my orthodontist, roughly.

From what I know is there is no certain period for you to wear retainer, you need to wear retainer forever (every night) to maintain the result. You can google about this. My friend wear her retainer for 6 month then she stop wearing it then her teeth crooked again.. so I think it's better to wear it forever.. biggrin.gif
*
Yea, my cousin told me the same too, she have to wear a retainer for a lifelong period.

Not a biggie since it is acceptable to wear during the sleep only laugh.gif

Putting on braces painful or not?
*
Painful, not really. It just the term that always be heard from non-user.

Its more on uncomfortable. Painful, as Shahrul90 said, in some cases where your orthodontic need to extract your tooth or within first few days of newly replaced wire. Few pills of paracetamol (when needed) simply will solve the issue smile.gif
