Syntium 1000 has got higher viscosity than 800..my own experiece is that the engine feels 'heavier' to rev with 1000

QUOTE(theonlyvin @ Jun 5 2015, 02:03 PM)
Yea, same thing happen to me. With 15W50 in syn 1000, compare to symtium 800 5W30, syn 1k is just too thick and heavy. I dont like that feel.
*
Heavier to rev which results in a louder sound from the engine or transmission + a dragging feel during acceleration. The Synthium 800 feels lighter, softer sound from engine/transmission during acceleration ie. less draggy feel and smoother acceleration.

Currently I'm experiencing a loud "woo wooo" sound from the CVT occasionally during low speed bumper to bumper crawl after an abrupt change in speed. For example, when cruising at 120km/h and there is heavy traffic in front, the speed goes down to 10 or 20km/h. During this time this "wooo wooo" sound will come up when I step on the pedal. It will last for 5 to 10 seconds before going back to normal. The sound is loud and unpleasant.

Has anyone experienced this? I don't think this is due to the engine oil (Synthium 800 vs 1000) but something else.

Difficult to replicate this in the service centre to get the guys to rectify the problem but will bring it up to them soon when I get the car to the SC.

Yes, don't need to waste money. In my case, by accidentally taking the Synthium 1000 due to the service adviser's unscrupulous action(I asked the branch manager to warn this fellow) my car's performance did not improve with the costlier engine oil but deteriorated instead. Anyway it is good that I have tried the Synthium 1000 at least once, otherwise I would not have known. After this experience, there is no way I am going to opt for the 1000 anymore.

There is still about 5500km before the next service and I can't wait to get back to the cheaper Synthium 800 for better performance.

Noted and thanks.

There are a few different Synthium 800. Which grade would you recommend?

But nothing beats [ANY] engine oil + Tufoil engine treatment, the engine just run smoother and quieter~~~and they are still the Guinness record holder for being the most slippery substance known to man....

now for my Preve i am using Syntium 800 + 4 oz of Tufoil and i feel noticeable difference smile.gif
Well im not a salesman...just sharing...please find below the website

I saw a Proton memo about not using an engine treatment add-in oil. Forgot the name now.

Problem was the higher temp in the turbo section causes this add-in oil to breakdown, causing scaling deposits on the turbo part and a trial of problems later.

Tufoil is proven AOK from your experience?

Anyone knows whether this oil is approved by Proton?

Thanks.

P/S Saw this in the web. Can someone explain the cooking part please?

How does Tufoil work with turbo chargers?
Turbo-charged engines work extremely well with Tufoil in the crankcase. (Don't forget! When you shut your turbo engine off, to idle it before you shut down. If you don't, any oil will be cooked in the hot bearings.)

Yeap that is the X1R engine treatment oil that clogs some of the valve of the Turbo...not recommended to use it and now Proton Service Center had removed it...

but do bear in mind that Tufoil is 0.5 to 0.05 micron in size (ur hair could be a few micron thick)...this is what makes makes the PTFE fills all small gaps within the engine and provide protection of your engine smile.gif

the oil filter cannot filter the substance~~ so no worries if u ask me~~and again..the difference are noticeable smile.gif

Oh ya to answer your question~~~this is also why the fan (of the cooling system) of our Preve is still running when we switched off the engine...to prevent cooking the valves and cooling down all the system~~

3rd year and 2 months. smooth sailing.

recently have a problem of vibrate during acceleration.
not steering vibrate but as if the tyre spin cause the vibrate is just a moment. and then it gone.

I wonder is it the cvt belt loosen when accelerate.
4~5k rpm on S mode. around 70kmph ~ 120kmph there is a three times such occasion as if each ratio change vibrate once.

change to + - mode it is ok no such vibrate.

dunno how to explain the vibrate is almost same like when u brake and then there is a esc kick in vibrate kind of feeling.

average 9.7l/100km

no issues at all.

cvt noises not that loud as i thought

i hope this will continue even at 45k mileage

i am a very lucky and happy with the car and i cant wait for the 1000km service.

Praying that no petty and major issues at all.

Hi guys,

Finally, a complaint from me but not a big prob.

I noticed the steering is not balanced. I have to steer a bit to the left on a straight road constantly.

What is the cost if i do balancing and alignment at Proton Service Centre?

If i do that in normal shop (for better price of course) wud the warranty voided?

ANyone has experience? Thanks

Balancing RM 8 per wheel, alignment RM40+.

Better do it outside.
