Something bad happen to my car last friday (Preve CFE). Otw to Penang, engine warning light came on. So I stopped my car near Kuala Kangsar exit. Before i stopped i already here the clack clack sound from the engine. So i opened the front bonnet. I found that there is splash of engine oil. And it is still coming out from the engine. Haaih.. A tow truck came and the car was towed to Proton kuala kangsar. I was told by the foreman that the engine coolant hose from the bottom of the engine leaked. Engine oil almost empty doh.gif. They said need to wait for replacement part and my car still under warranty. Anyone has the same problem??? What is the solution to fix this??

My car almost 3 year (2 year 11month). Mileage 79000 km.

You surely travel a lot clocking 79,000km in less than 3 years. When I sold off my previous car after using it for 5 years 1 month, the mileage is only around 51,000km.

Sorry to hear about the engine problem in your Preve Turbo. No such problem with the engine yet (touch wood) but the transmission in my car, also a Preve Turbo is acting erratically weird these days with an occasional loud "woo woo" sound coupled by rough jerky acceleration which I think is due to the Synthium 1000 engine oil. Other than the CVT performing under expectations, no major issues.

Since your car is still under warranty, just let the service centre fixed it. You don't need to worry about the "solution" since the SC will fix it for you, though you can ask what might have caused the engine problem or the leakage. Whether it is due to wear and tear or something else.

ok, my FC too high, I was thinking its due to the speed since i cannot accelerate much due to the traffic and short distance.

slowly. CFE can reach 720 km one full tank. consistent travel 110kmph. with luggage and two person should be can reach 650~720 mark. 7.6l/100km.

now I maximum push most of the time 120~160~180~200 sometimes getting 380~450km full tank. so mileage is high at 9.6l/100km

Yes, i do travel a lot between Nilai and Penang. The thing is, i just serviced my car few days before the trip. Change front brake pad, power steering oil, and also using shell fully synthethic engine. Also a day before that, radiator fan not functioning causing the engine to overheat. Stop the car and then send it to Proton SC Nilai. They ketuk ketuk the fan and it start to spin again. They said if want to replace need to replace the whole panel and no spare part at that time. Adoi. So i decided to proceed with the long journey to Penang as i have work to do and it turns out that my car broke down during the journey. Bad luck, wrong timing, poor decision making, i guess.

Weird.

My only happen if i start directly by pressing the start button without all those procedure.

Happens maybe 2-3 out of 10 times. All these 2 and a half year thats the amount of times i start using direct press start, prolly 15-20 times.

Sorry you had a breakdown. I was told of the need to change oil hose as there was oil leak - not sure if it is the same part as yours - and put in request for the spare part. This was done at Klang Pantai Baru. 2 days ago I want for 50K service and they changed the part plus other things but all done under warranty. Yesterday went back to workshop as there was oil leak and they fixed it. Wasted 1/2 day because they did not do it right the first time.

Mine is also Turbo and it is 2012. I think there is a standing instruction to change this part so maybe you guys with this model should check with Proton.

Rm300+ by upgrading Preve HU GPS map is kind of killing my pocket money. Wondering if today we can have "jail brake" method by do it our own on original HU...  😁 Pls share Sifu!
Thx.

If you are using the newer BLAUPUNKT HU with GARMIN GPS, you can download the latest free GARMIN map data from the MalfreeMaps forum (http://www.malfreemaps.com/index.php?sid=d19b58513b62b950e53f82fd381c2cf4). You'll need to sign up as a member to be able to download the map data. Do appreciate their work by giving a word of thanks thereafter.

a. Execute the downloaded file on your PC by referring to the installation instructions on their forum website.

b. After the successful execution, the file "gmapsupp.img" will be created in the "c:\Garmin\Malfreemaps" folder (default setting).

c. Copy this file "gmapsupp.img" into your MicroSD card in the "Garmin" folder.

d. Rename the 2 existing files "gmapprom.img" and gmapprom1.img" on the MicroSD card to "gmapprom.old" and "gmapprom1.old" respectively.

e. Rename the copied file "gmapsupp.img" to "gmapprom.img".

Insert the MicroSD card into the BLAUPUNKT HU and run the GARMIN GPS. It should be using the updated map data from Malfreemaps. You can also reconfirm the map data version from the "Map Set" option in the GARMIN GPS software.

The above had worked for me. Caveat Emptor. Try at your own risk, albeit minimal because should it doesn't work, then just delete the renamed "gmapprom.img" file and revert the original 2 files with the ".old" extension back to their original ".img" extension.
