Difference between M180 and M225, the lugs on the M225 is curved, I assume to a degree of 225, whereas the M180 is just a straight lug, both when viewing from the side of the watch.

For most, no modification needed, but personally, I modified it by thinning some parts of the first link from a shop that does steel works. By thinning the first link, the band is able to "bend" more and wrap around my wrist better, much reducing the chance of cracking.
