Fulat, their customer service is 24 hours leh can call them any hour of the nite.
Hmm very intrested in knowing why they pulled the plug on the advantage savings.
I've been a Maxis user from 97 and was on their normal package which i just
changed to package 138. May I know what's your package that they pulled
it away?

Itll cost ya RM25 and can be done at the spot at any Maxis or its authorised
agents. The charge will be shown in your next bill.

just walk-in any handphone outlets or maxis branch and ask for the form.

if you get a new starter pack, they suppose to give you a form to fill up.

1. To upgrade your sim card to be able to use the 3G service is a simple
thing. Walk in to any Maxis Authorised agent or Service Center, pass them
your sim card and they will replace it with a 3G sim card. No change of numbers. You can even still use your old sim card to retrieve those saved addresses and sms'es.
2. Which place ? Any Maxis Authorised agents or Service Center.
3. KLCC ? Sure. Lowyat ? Sure. Sungai Wang ? Sure. See answer 2.
4. Wanna know why you dont knw how to use 3G function ? You dont have
a 3G card to test it on ler...ishk.... doh.gif
5. USIM = 3G Sim Card. Faster speeds on this.
SIM = 2.5G Sim Card. Must this be explained ? whistling.gif rolleyes.gif

At last I registered with the Hotlink (MAXIS) centre. It's very fast though. Just fill in the mobile phone number, name, IC and sign the form. Around 2 minutes. In the form there's a special section to ask for Hotlink members to sign up for the Hotlink Club.

Your Hotlink Club membership shouldn't be affected, This promotion is to attract more people to register, so a year membership fess are waived. But not sure whether those who are Hotlink Club members need to register again or no need.

Not sure on this, I believe there is a discussion on the thread where you
got the info on how to upgrade the simcard without paying the RM 25 no?

Now, since we are on that question maybe you can answer your own
questions before. You said that you had a 3G phone but dont know how to
use the 3G functions and even the Video Call function. Now if your phone
was activated on 3G by the sms option surely this would mean that its not
ok to do it eh ?

QUOTE(monster2020 @ Oct 6 2005, 06:29 PM)

There is a code which you can put in and activate the 3G settings in and to
most guys over here it seems that it works. I activated the ole RM 25 way tho.
For more on the discussion you can browse here

For how to do it read a quote by Hoongji here
QUOTE(hoongji @ Sep 1 2005, 08:47 AM)
i'm using the ol' 64k maxis sim card and just send in the (*#) code to activate 3g. to my surprise, my phone showed the 3g icon. so i tried video call my friends and it worked! so what's the point of upgrading the card for RM25? all i know is that we get a brand new 128k sim. that's all. our ol' 64k still can use 3g. no need to waste rm25

Finally I'm entitled to the bonus thing you guys were talking about previously.

Received a SMS from Hotlink this morning indicated that I need to reload before my expiry in order to get the bonus. Can't remember what're the exact figures. Too bad I reloaded after my expiry date as I'm not aware of it.

Very easy that, firstly ask the name of the agent at the start and end
of your conversation. Remember that the agents performance is based on
their actions and the calls are recorded. No response to your problem
within the hour they promised call them up and ask for the same agent.
If he's not available ask for the team lead, that'll make your request a much
pleasant wait. Once you ask the agent name and asks he/she to repeat it
at the end of the conversation they know you mean business tongue.gif

Every call is also traced and recorded so if he/she never creates a request for
you even if its just a trivial query, they'll be in trouble. Wanna know why ?
Maxis this year is up with Digi to compete for the best phone call center award,
the more complaints they get the lower their rating and that's not something
that they would wanna get, since they would wanna keep the record of being
the best call telco phone helpdesk for the third year running this year smile.gif

Is anyone facing the problem of not being able to delete your voice messages using keypress 7? Using postpaid line.

Im using postpaid and like you I prefer to answer the phone and not waste
my time and cash calling the voice mail just to hear my friends hanging up
on me and not knowing who they are.

My choice, let it ring till they are tired, at least there is a miss call of that number
so if im in a meeting I can later check my phone and drop them a sms or give
them back a call to see what its all about.

If you dont really like the voicemail option, you can like me, call up Maxis and
have them cancel this service, not only will your phone ring longer, at least you
can be sure of the number calling you and not have to waste time calling the
voicemail number to hear silence at the end tongue.gif

For your first statement im not sure what you mean.
For your second statement the rate for 3G is exactly the same as
voice calls. Meaning your video calls will be charged exactly the same
like your voice calls but this is only for Maxis.

Other telcos have an extra charge on video calls rolleyes.gif

Find a friend that uses the phone a lot and do airtime transfer. Tell them pay RM50 and you transfer RM100 worth of airtime (50% discount). Still win-win situation since he gets RM100 worth of airtime and you get RM50 cash which would've been stuck in your account unused. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

it tends to change itself on certain circumstances, like last time i was in KLCC and there was a roadshow and my operator logo showed:

3G Roadshow at X Floor, Petronas Tower

they really know how to do business la~
as for your case, i really dunno~

btw, got RM5 a few days ago~
cheers for Maxis~
but it's nothing compared to hundreds of dollars i have invested in paying for my prepaid service~

I guess there're more problems and doubts with prepaid if opposed to postpaid.

Detailed bills are optional. You can opt for e-billing (check your detailed billing on the net), that on is free.

Also don't forget, with postpaid (Maxis, DiGi, Celcom), you will be charged 5% goverment tax.

I guess that is because prepaid have to pay if want to call helpline. Postpaid get to call to helpline for free.

For Hotlink, you can register at the following venues
- Maxis Centres.
- Maxis Authorised Serviced Agents (MASA) outlets.
- Selected dealers with Hotlink Registration sticker.

p.s: Not sure whether you can register online, but IIANM, the answer is no. Correct me if I am wrong smile.gif

I think it's possible but why want to give false info? whistling.gif It have to depend on who is registering you. If the person is very strict and follow all the rules accordingly like presenting your IC during the registration, then it's hard to give false info (like IC# & phone#). When I register that time, the person didn't even request for my IC, just let me have the form and ask me to fill up myself, And when I am done, just pass it back to the person. sweat.gif

For your info, I put all my information corretly when I register, And after filling in all the info, just pass it back to the person and he/she will record it inside their database. I don't think there are any confirmation messages resulted when registration successful. smile.gif

p.s: Maybe those people that put wrong info wants to do "something" in the future. whistling.gif

I guess they will discontinue your line since this is as required by the government.
Anyway, I just registered a couple of weeks back, seems like you just fill up and hand over the form, that's all. i leave the Hotlink Club section empty.
The thing is you can't even know whether your registration is successful or not. sweat.gif

Don't worry, you can always go back to the Maxis Centres and let them handle the problem. After registering make sure that your line is still active even after March, if any error occur, just head back to the centre. smile.gif

The main reason is because many people are using the prepaid lines to cause destruction by making prank calls, and some other more serious cases. Prepaid lines are not line postpaid, Once the postpaid line is detected, the owner's name will be reveal and their personal information stuffs. Therefore a lot of people (not all) are using prepaid lines to cause trouble to other people and it results in the line registration for the prepaid users as well.

Don't know what happen. I thought someone send me a share-a-topup. But there's no sender number. I received it twice today. I think there's something wrong with Maxis' system and they mistakenly gave me RM 10 twice.

I hope they don't take it back. tongue.gif

Go to MASA or Maxis Centre at KLCC to do the upgrade. The cost I guess will be FOC for non-3G SIM. Not so sure ...

To be more precise, it'll be Hotlink Club; not Maxis Club.

Annual fee is RM10.

i got a 3g phone and a sim card , as usual my so-called "setapak" place has no coverage..they said , its in the coverage zone (bunch of liars , i guesss...it can only pickup the 3G signal sometimes..thats also weak)..But on KLCC , etc..its fine..uber fast...quite okay

Pretty much I'm happy with maxis..VoiceSMS..its okay , pretty good..ther service is cheap...sometimes when you're tired to send sms..voice sms does a good job on it

trust me !

Yah PJ is in Klang Valley. Maxis 3G coverage good in KL center, PJ, Subang up to fringe of Shah Alam.

Two days ago, friend wanted to set up 3G for N6680 using 3G hotlink. So i called 123 and they sent settings to the hotlink number. After getting settings on the 6680 still got no 3G signal but my Z800i got with my postpaid 3G. So put in my postpaid card into N6680 also got no 3G signal. Called up 123 again and they listen to the problem and found out the problem was that phone setting was GSM, had to select Dual Mode for 3G. The point was Postpaid Customer SErvice from Maxis is excellent and they are even willing to assist on hotlink services.

Hey guys...got a question here...hope dat u guys can help me=)

I'm using maxis supplementary line. Yesterday my simcard went faulty(cant receive any call & msg). So I went to maxis center today. They told me a new card charged RM50, but they said they upgraded my card to 3G, oni charged me RM25. I din think much at dat time, so i juz accept it. FYI, I'm not using 3G phone. Now i got a problem. Since i'm using 3G card now, izzit my call rate, sms rate & monthly access fee same as 3G rate now? I'm not using 3G service. Will maxis charge me more than b4? Lazy to call 123 for inquires.=p Really hope u guys can help me here.=>

Thanks for reading!;)

Applying for the 3g simcard does not affect any rates at all. Even video calls are priced at your voice call rates. If your access fee was RM30 then it'll stay at that. If you are on the plan 75, it will still be RM75 a month.

maxis 3g is crap. very hard to find coverage. my house is 1km away from a university. they got the uni covered. but since my house is on a hill valley, it's in a blackspot. complaint half a year ago still never come upgrade. they never value the "ikan bilis" users (7million strong community). they just want to milk money from those rich and vips. they got the whole ELITE highway to KLIA covered just for those ppl. some places along that stretch don't even have residents.

i didn't have the chance to use 3g after paying rm25 for the upgrade half a year ago. can only use when i get down to kl

if i'm not mistaken, maxis one club is by invitation only.. if they feel they want to give u the membership then they give.. if u're lucky enough..

anyway, using 012 since 2000.. kinda sad though.. last time bought hotlink sim pack for RM128 but now RM8.80 can get aledi.. but still the best in malaysia.. thumbup.gif

oh, i see.. well, hmm.. dunno anything about the promotion..
maybe as some forummers said, they had stopped issuing the member card and instead they send u a sms or mms with ur membership's account.. just need to flash that sms/mms whenever u're getting any offers..

i'm not registered yet.. had some conflicting comments on the subject.. some said sent
in the welcome card means registered already while the other one said need to go to register again, welcome card is a different thing..

well, what do u guys think? huh.gif

How to change the duration of the ringing tone of the caller ? Like when a person call me, it takes longer time for the call to be dropped. Mine very short already dropped, so everytime I have to run to answer my call.

IMO, I think once you submitted the form, it's considered as registered (theoretically) But on the safe side, you can go to any Maxis Centre and ask them to check for you.

IIANM, it is about owning up to 5 SIM cards on one Maxis line and the users will have the convenience of using one telephone number across different handsets or devices to make simultaneous outgoing calls or data transfers.

Hey I got a question:

If I upgrade to 3G right, would they take away my old sim card? And if they don't, would I still be able to use the sim card?

Another one. If I claim my sim card to have been lost, and ask for a new one, they would give me the usim right? So does that mean I only have to pay RM15 to get it?

Thanks eddievh. I've just called the number and had my ringtone duration increased. The customer support staff was very polite and helpful.

But just as a note to those who plan to increase their ringtone duration, please be informed that the following services will be cancelled as well:

1) Voicemail
2) Missed call notification

For 2) Missed call notification, some configuration is needed on the user's end. You'd need to type *147*0# and press the Call button on your phone. Before you enter this command however, you'd need to contact the customer support at 1-830-820-120 first.

Take note also that it takes at least two hours for the changes to take effect.

On the other hand, I've noticed that my Hotlink prepaid ringtone has been increased from its existing 24-second duration to:

- 40 seconds if called from another Maxis number
- 59 seconds if called from a DiGi number
- 1 minute 28 seconds if called from a fixed-line number in Penang (04)

Hmm. Is there a way to increase ringtone duration but still keeping the voicemail? Voicemail is important to me.

If i need to disable it just to increase ringtone duration, i rather have the duration remain the same. sweat.gif

Im not really understand about the second disadvantage. What do u mean it will be gone ? And, why do we need to press those codes for ? Please be more specific.

@sniper msia:

No, the voicemail has to be cancelled in order for your ringtone duration to be increased.

@jdreamer:

If you'd read more carefully, you'd notice that I didn't state that there were any disadvantages. wink.gif To increase your ringtone duration, two services provided by Maxis will have to be cancelled. They are:

1) Voicemail
2) Missed call notification

You can't increase the ringtone duration by yourself. You'd need to contact the Maxis Customer Support to do some changes in your account on their end.

But on your side, you'd need to do some manual configuration as well. That's when you type the command *147*0# and press the Call button on your phone.

But you should only do so after you've contacted the Maxis Customer Support, and only if you plan to increase your ringtone duration.

The missed call notification that's being mentioned here is different from your phone's missed call list.

For example, let's say that you're in the bathroom, and your phone rings. If you don't pick up the call, you'd get one miss call listed when you check your phone. That feature will remain and it won't be affected if you choose to increase your ring tone duration.

However, if you turn off your phone, and your friend calls you when your phone is switched off, your friend will automatically be directed to your voicemail, and the next time you switch on your phone, there will be a message telling you that you have a missed missed call from number blablabla. This missed call feature (together with your voicemail) will be deactivated if you choose to extend your ringtone duration.

Should you decide to extend your ringtone duration, contact the Maxis Customer Support and tell them that you would like to have your ring tone duration increased so that the phone rings longer. They should be able to understand that. smile.gif

Ya, the missed call alert is only applicable and functionable when you enable voice mail.

When u off the phone or the line is busy and someone calls you, you will be redirected to voicemail and the caller hangs up the call without leaving the voicemail. When u switch on the phone or available, you will receive voicemail notification.

However, if you disable the voicemail, you wont get the alert alot. Unlike DiGi, you will get the notification even you disable the voicemail.

Maxis should look into this!

Happy New Year ya'all! biggrin.gif

Thanks all biggrin.gif

my friend is having 3G, they replaced his sim card with 3G sim card. i hv no idea on your second question... sorry cant help.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! biggrin.gif So they took away his old sim card right? Thinking whether to switch to 3G or not. I've a 3G-able phone, but not the line tongue.gif

So what's different with the new card? Can it store more msgs, or more numbers? Is it a 64k or 128k?

Has anyone try using the Hotlink IDD132 feature?
How exactly do I send a sms to the countries listed in the IDD132? Do I need to follow the same code exactly like the one for dialing? I try to send but it fails everytime.
Thanks in advance smile.gif

Shouldn't it be like sending normal sms? If Singapore, go 0065 followed by number or +65 followed by number. Each country has different codes. Australia is +61, India is +91

the + replaces the 00. Special case for Singapore can also use 02 followed by number for sms. Certain countries you can't sms like Greece. But Australia, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Phillipines all can.

Yep, I try sending sms to, for example, +65xxxxxxx but it doesn't work too, the recipient didn't receive any sms.

You sure you're sending to the right number? Because I sms Spore everyday. No problems at all.

The sim phonebook is still 250 numbers ..

ermmm .. i'm not sure whether there will be charge for changing the usim or not BUT i wasnt charged anything when i changed it, and my this month bill just arrived and there is NO charges related to the change of sim card thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I LOVE YOU MAN! Hehe tongue.gif Thanks for all the info. You pretty much answered all my questions biggrin.gif

Curious...Which service center did you go to yeah? And how come you didn't get charged? My line is a sub line of my sis's and she is a One Club Member. So does that make me a One Club member as well? Does beinga One Club member have anything to do with your foc sim change?
