Does this apply for Hotlink pre-paid as well? I mean, can I extend my ringtone duration? If so, what number do I call to request for this?

Thanks eddievh. I've just called the number and had my ringtone duration increased. The customer support staff was very polite and helpful.

But just as a note to those who plan to increase their ringtone duration, please be informed that the following services will be cancelled as well:

1) Voicemail
2) Missed call notification

For 2) Missed call notification, some configuration is needed on the user's end. You'd need to type *147*0# and press the Call button on your phone. Before you enter this command however, you'd need to contact the customer support at 1-830-820-120 first.

Take note also that it takes at least two hours for the changes to take effect.

On the other hand, I've noticed that my Hotlink prepaid ringtone has been increased from its existing 24-second duration to:

- 40 seconds if called from another Maxis number
- 59 seconds if called from a DiGi number
- 1 minute 28 seconds if called from a fixed-line number in Penang (04)

@sniper msia:

No, the voicemail has to be cancelled in order for your ringtone duration to be increased.

@jdreamer:

If you'd read more carefully, you'd notice that I didn't state that there were any disadvantages. wink.gif To increase your ringtone duration, two services provided by Maxis will have to be cancelled. They are:

1) Voicemail
2) Missed call notification

You can't increase the ringtone duration by yourself. You'd need to contact the Maxis Customer Support to do some changes in your account on their end.

But on your side, you'd need to do some manual configuration as well. That's when you type the command *147*0# and press the Call button on your phone.

But you should only do so after you've contacted the Maxis Customer Support, and only if you plan to increase your ringtone duration.

The missed call notification that's being mentioned here is different from your phone's missed call list.

For example, let's say that you're in the bathroom, and your phone rings. If you don't pick up the call, you'd get one miss call listed when you check your phone. That feature will remain and it won't be affected if you choose to increase your ring tone duration.

However, if you turn off your phone, and your friend calls you when your phone is switched off, your friend will automatically be directed to your voicemail, and the next time you switch on your phone, there will be a message telling you that you have a missed missed call from number blablabla. This missed call feature (together with your voicemail) will be deactivated if you choose to extend your ringtone duration.

Should you decide to extend your ringtone duration, contact the Maxis Customer Support and tell them that you would like to have your ring tone duration increased so that the phone rings longer. They should be able to understand that. smile.gif
