sorry for the late reply, have been quite busy lately. my apologies.

my rams are currently running @ 2.85v @ 235mhz.

and i just found out that the mobo i'm using does not allow me to choose the CPU multiplier or even the CPU:RAM divider. shakehead.gif so i'm wondering how should i set it. only setting i can change is the HT multiplier, but i don't see the point in changing it, as my HT is still safely in the 1800-2000 zone.

what should i do now? unsure.gif

anyone able to shed some light upon my darkness? unsure.gif laugh.gif

oh yeah, does high voltages convert into unstable Prime95 stress tests?

try this, when in bios try to press this two buttons:crtl+F1

it will enable advance bios configuration for sum mobos

btw,as a reminder, keep ur HTL speed sumwhere in 1000mhz range,do not exceed more than 1000mhz coz it might burn ur processor

i think it's not burn your processor, it's more like unstable...biggrin.gif

well,it was quoted from other ppl...i read thru those oc guide n sum ppl tell me tat it will fry ur proc >.<...btw,is it worth if i change my proc to Athlon X2 3800+ S939?or just get a neu AM2 mobo and AM2 proc?a lot of hassle if i wanna change s939 proc to AM2 proc ,coz i need to change the mobo and ram too...n it might poke a hole through my pocket(tight budget)

IMO, yes, it's worth...single core to dual core la...for sure better...as for migrate to S940 AM2, yeah...it's kinda need a little more than just upgrading your S939 single core to dual core S939...if i were you, i might just stick to S939 with maybe X2 4200+ or FX series and build another S949 AM2 rig...just my 2cents...smile.gif

thx for the suggestion, now my doubt is a bit clear...coz last time i heard tat AMD X2 only will show its true color with DDR800...just another question, rather than choosing X2 as my next proc, shud i go for dual core opty coz if im not mistaken opty core is higly overclockable compared to X2

yes, when comparing X2 with Dual Core Opty, i'd say, go for it...go for Dual Core Opty

yeah..in many word opty is better in single core & dual core.....
it realy stable in overclocking....but the price... sweat.gif sweat.gif

so are u going to upgrade to AM2 and get a opty system?? drool.gif

i just check the price at newegg.com,quite reasonable..so i decided to stay with s939 system with dual core opty mounting on it icon_rolleyes.gif

i got sumthin i wanna ask u all, this thing has been haunting me since 1st time i did overclocking

it is reagrding overclocking ur cpu on a divider

does that means our cpu n ram doesnt syncrhonize?

if yes,is there any side effect to our pc performance?

nope, CPU/RAM must run synchronize. the use of divider is for limiting our RAM to certain speed and let only our CPU clock way higher even stock RAM clock...let say, for instance...i have S939 A64 3000+ 1.8GHz coupled with 2x512MB Kingston KVR PC3200 DDR400, when use 1:1, it might be impossible to get 250MHz on RAM (maybe lucky enough to get that speed), so what to do, i still want to overclock but my RAM's limit it...so here's the memory divider comes in...use it to limit say DDR400 while my CPU clocked way higher than stock 1.8GHz...get the point?

thx for the answer sniper, but i still hav a doubt

example:
let say my FSB is 280mhz,but my ram running slower than the FSB(HTT for amd) becoz i run it on a divider, does my cpu still sync with my ram?

take mine for instance...currently i'm running on divider 166MHz (333MHz) but still my HT (FSB) at 300x9 while RAM at 245MHz (490MHz)...should be no problem...keep in mind, it musnt RAM FSB higher than CPU FSB...i can't explain further...sorry for that...

I have a question. I hope someone can enlighten my about it.

I tried overclocking my rig

Specs:
AMD Athlon64 3000+ (s939)
ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard
Advance Modules(R) DDR400MHz (PC3200) 512MB*2
Palit NVIDIA(R) GeForce(tm) 7300GT Sonic 256MB DDR3

And this is what I achieved.

My question is:
In the BIOS, I set my RAM max speeds as DDR333 but somehow with the current overclocking settings for my CPU, I got a 220Mhz RAM (according to CPU-Z). Which is DDR440 I believe? Whats the reason behind this?

and also

Did I do everything correctly? What is not right here? Besides the RAM speed not sync 1:1 with FSB.... sweat.gif
