i got it at RM1.6k currently i'm using headphone jack to pm8005. i find the sound quality is really good d. i m really wondering how much different can a dac improve.

yah, i went to two shop on last months, both shop got demo units only.
and last week when i want to buy, the pair i got is also demo units.
i believe currently in the market there mostly are demo units, as the first shipment will be arrive mid of may as one of the shop told me.


if you want to get it fast, may try singapore. should have stock.
but Malaysia price cheaper.

Just want to quickly run through my plan with you all to make sure I'm not missing out anything/doing anything stupid.

Already gotten: B&W 685 S2 and some cable (YXL or something RM 500 after 50% discount =\)

Planning to get:
1) PM 6005 at ~ RM 2100
2) Apple Airport Express ~ RM 450
3) mini jack to optical cable ~ RM ??? (Where can I get this, are there different grades since this is digital?)
4) Auralex MoPad ~ RM 280 (any better recommendation if I don't want to get speaker stand?)

I'm planning to stream Spotify music from iPad / iPhone.

what is the airport express for?

The Airport Express allows wireless streaming from Apple devices to the PM6005 amp as digital source.

Edit: I just read that steaming via AirPlay would resample everything to 44.1kHz. Does this mean much lower quality music?

hi all user of NA6005 & NA8005.
i got a few questions, hope you guys can help.

1. if i'm planning to stream music from my itunes on my mac to the device.
so the music airplay to the device, the music quality will it different than using direct usb or optical cable?

2. how is the internet radio work? anyone try before?

3. spotify will work with the built in dac?

4. if connect thru USB, how much is the longest distance? as my computer is quite far away.

(1) No Apple product here, nor I am Apple fan. But I do eat Apple daily

(2) Listen-able for fun only. But certainly not HiFi quality. Sound like MP3 that lost the details. My ears especialy senstive to details...

(3) Never try Spotify

(4) USB work as I tried once... But I think asking about the USB length is the wrong question. The 'NA' mean Network Audio. The word, 'Network' mean using IP based solution. I personally prefer LAN over USB anytime. Normal LAN cable is limited to 100 meters to switch, which is sufficient for my small house. Just get a NAS and put everything there. Do all wiring. I found my NA8005 that only come with 100mbps LAN do not suffer quality playback issue.

With IP and NAS solution, then only you can enjoy its Web solution, android app etc.

Btw, music file is much smaller than movies. Get a 6 or 8 TB single NAS should be sufficient for music lower. However, if you want to mix with movies, dun buy anything less than 12TB.

Again, do make use of the 'NA', which mean all the IP function.

Checked out the site, it seems that PM6006 comes with 2 optical input compared to just 1 optical input on the PM6005. Price is hkd 4000, which is around hkd 1000 cheaper than the PM6005 in hk. Quality: Unknown but those guys seem impressed. Comparison against PM6005 is also not done. =\

How do these guys get their hands on the unit before it's even launched? Good that there's finally a PM6006, but when will it reach here?

Few months later

Which could mean anything from 3 months (super optimistic) to 9-12 months (worst case scenario) since it's not even officially launched yet...

I wonder if I should buy the PM6005 first (my new 685S2 is ready to be collected) and then trade-in when the PM6006 reaches our shore. The PM6006 is likely to be a better amp given Marantz's track record at improving their 6000 series amp time after time. Would lose some money... =\

Maybe wait for one month to see how things go (can call up the distributor to ask I supposed). this should give me some time to re-think a system that's ideal for my budget.

I've tried K2 & K3 amp/CD combo. Really nice indeed. Problem is no digital input (besides the blue tooth) and most importantly out of my budget. =\
