QUOTE(everclear @ Dec 15 2015, 07:15 AM) Hi sifu's I'm an absolute newbie who just wanted to get an entry level hifi set. I care more about music and couldn't care less about the boom and bang while watching movies. This is what I've set my eyes on: yamaha A-S801 cheaper and better i guest from PM7005Bowers & Wilkins 685 S2 Marantz PM + CD 6005 Would there be any major fallback with this set up? I am also not sure if I want to use CD as my main source but I don't know what I can get if I have more digital source. Thanks in advance! |

PM7005 = SGD1100 PM8005 = SGD1250 stylelaser price which i found from mudah PM7005 = RM5299 PM8005 = RM6299 as i m planning to match it with Dali Zensor 3, but this is not the final decision yet. because i not sure it match with the marantz amp or not |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Apr 17 2016, 02:20 PM) PM6005 + PM7005 has built in DAC. I bought the PM6005 also for its value for money (built in DAC). However, my experince with the PM6005 built in DAC is just so-so-okay-type experince (maybe 2.5 stars out of 5 stars). In other words, a good seperate DAC or streamer with DAC or SACD with streamer is kind of unavoidable if you want overal good results. will add to my wish listMy PM6005 (2 units) built-in DAC sound harsh, especially with bright speakers. And certainly not smooth to enjoy (music domain). Once I have the NA8005 as my music stream and DAC, I finally got the sound that I can hardly complain (maybe details not as much as the Saber). The sound is so much better now... But always remember to get OCC interconnect cables for between amp and DAC. It might cost a bit, but the sound is really more than noticable differences. QUOTE(bryanyz @ Apr 17 2016, 03:10 PM) em, i am planning to get a network receiver too. how is the sound quality streaming using wifi? OCC Cable? OCC is the brand or? occ is different/better type of copper from ofc |

QUOTE(chanhin @ May 3 2016, 01:25 PM) Do note that with good amp and speaker, speaker cable make huge differences... PM8005 is certainly a great amp. can you recommend brand for occ speaker and rca cable bro?furutech? Good speaker cable is multi-grade (for different freq response) where the high freq portion must be handled by OCC. |

QUOTE(chanhin @ May 3 2016, 10:42 PM) For speaker cables, I am using Monster M2.4S for both my Stereo system. And both my system support bi-wiring. Just nice. ok thanks, seem this cable quite expensive http://www.amazon.com/Monster-M2-4s-15-Dis...r/dp/B000CC1Q5O To my ears, my monster cable is way better than most of my friends cables.... The more sensitive your ears, the more you can appreciate. And no need run-in time, you can tell immediately with huge improvement. Initially I know nothing about OCC vs OFC thing. I also never believe in speaker cables as I never hear anything great when my friend told me his cable costing over thousand ringgit. Same thing from shop. Nothing amazed. But when I first heard the sound from the Monster 2.4S, I was amazed by its sound like high end DAC. And it actually confussed me for many days. I cannot understand how could a cable change the sound so much. It was far more than just freq response. The higher pitch was so smooth and polished... And it has no DSP, cross over nor any components... Just cables.. It make my sound system like upgraded to different class. So smooth... And I was so curious to find the magic formula behind and keep searching. Then only months later, I found the secret incredent should be the OCC used for high freq part. After you had experinced multi-gauge speaker cables with OCC for high freq (it mean very thick cable), you can tell one speaker cables from another if they have OCC. It is so obvious. |

QUOTE(butt @ May 4 2016, 02:19 PM) IMHO, you better settle for other speaker instead of LS50; it's a very good speaker but I don't think Pearl Lite amp will do it justice, and I know very darn well as I'm having the very same setup before.😊 wow...you mean not enough juice to drive or not match each other? |
