Hi guys, I need to buy a new entry level MKB for office use. The last time I came to you for advice, you guys recommended the QFR. That was a awesome recommendation. But now that I can't find QFR anymore, can you guys recommend another low priced MKB?

Not interested in the RK9000, as I'm looking for TKL. Oh, please don't recommend non-Cherry MX keyboards.

Thanks in advance.

what's your budget?
very hard to know what you mean by low price since different people have different interpretation of 'low price' sweat.gif

there's the latest QFR-i which is currently at RRP RM399 (but i've seen a few at garage sales and some retail shops selling lower than that)

otherwise cheaper options would be
Ducky Zero DK2087 TKL which is about RM269 (referring to heavy-arm's store)

They are gone for KailhGreetech switch... Down the drain..
Low cost switches, but still sell the keyboard at USD 143 (sohigh will continue to support).
Good, less another competitor for Cherry MX board.
Btw, it's nice choice to make a TKL series at the end. laugh.gif

Entry level like QFR...

Recommendation for entry:
- CM Storm QFR-i TKL (RM399), LED, Cherry stabilizers - Made in China
- Filco Majestouch 2 TKL (RM369), non-LED, Costar stabilizers - Made in Taiwan
- Ducky Zero TKL (RM 269), LED, Cherry stabilizers - Made In China

All mentioned are Cherry MX keyboards.

Hey guys, anyone know what's the difference between ducky zero shine and ducky shine 3?

Heavy Arm selling ducky shine 3 at the price of 369, rm100 off. Quite tempting.

DS3 is pretty good bling bling board.

MX Cherry switches, a lot of lighting modes. Only drawback is the caps aren't that good.

From what I seen, from Topre, Cherry, etc etc membrane keyboards all good reviews. Hardly there are bad reviews on a product. So weird huh? sweat.gif
So, can't depends on the reviews alone, because those reviewers just test the keyboard for couple of minutes, then spend most of the time writing and taking nice pictures.

For K65, the layout is bad, not even standard. See the bottom row...:
1.5x(Ctrl) 1x(Win) 1.25x(Alt) 6x(spacebar) 1.25x 1x 1x 1.5x (ctrl)
The 6x spacebar is very rare, not common, and hardly find a replacement if your keycaps broken or something.
So, since we all buy mkb for long-lasting and good typing feel.. Just avoid this keyboard.
Or else, you will alone in the dark by getting it.

Not really need to mention the high rate of LED died prematurely.
The first point: non-standard layout already kills the keyboard.

Thanks so much for the reply, and sorry for my late one, was on campus and became really busy with work/studies to even surf lyn sad.gif

so the main reason you do not reccomend the keyboard is due to the lack of customisation? The K65 is not backlit, and I am looking for an entry level mkb to game on the go between campus and home. I do not own a desktop computer, so the 80% layout seemed to make more sense to me. I also do not plan on going to any dark cc's to play anytime soon, so that is why I decided not to go for a backlit version.

Also, keycaps are expensive! a quick survey of LYN and its keycap pricing shows that it's about 1/3 the price of the actual keyboard! (the K65 is about RM3xx, and the caps are about RM100 for full keycap set!!) so I don't think I can splurge on the keycaps just yet sweat.gif

After all this would you still recommend corsair? or would you still prefer another brand such as the ducky zero series?

Ya, it just lacks of customisation.
Recommended to get standard layout for entry level keyboard.
Some, and most of the keycap set cost more than RM200 at least.
i.e SP DSA, DCS, SA, GMK, BSP, imsto...

If just entry level keyboard, I will recommend keyboard like Filco Majestouch 2 TKL for Non-LED.
If you going for higher level, then go for Custom keyboards or Topre (HHKB, Realforce, Leopold FC660C)..
In higher level, you will see the keycaps cost just fine. Not 1/3 of keyboard cost... wub.gif

regarding keycaps, think about it this way, if so happens that one of your keys plastic broke or your wasd and spacebar shine so badly that it looks ugly, you'll have a hard time finding a replacement keycaps later on.
and when the time comes, you'll start looking for replacement keycaps, and then you'll come across pretty looking keycaps set along the way, then you start kena getting poisoned by it.
but when you finally want to buy them (after thinking a lot of times and saving money) you realized that the CTRL ALT SPACEBAR row doesn't fit your keyboard...why? because your keyboard isn't standard layout, which we have warned long long time ago before you bought that keyboard but you didn't listen to us and go for that K65 keyboard.
then u start to regret and look for ways to sell your keyboard but nobody wan to buy from you because your keys spoil already or look ugly with the shine.
after that, you kena lowball, buy so expensive but can only sell below RM100. then you have to buy a new keyboard again with the money you saved for the keycaps.
then by the time you have enough money for that keycaps, the groupbuy already over or no more extra sets or you have to pay even more extra because people resell them at higher value.

moral of the story is, all this can be avoided if you have any of the following;
a) you listen to our recommendation since day 1
b) your bank account damn besar
c) run away when you can
d) you don't fancy keycaps

life is not fair, but sometimes, to elevate that, you need to be smart a bit.
my dua sen.

also, if your budget allows, get filco tkl or ducky zero tkl if you have tighter budget.

The caps are normal abs caps right?

But what's the main difference between DS3 and Ducky Zero shine? The difference was initially rm100, Ducky zero shine 369 vs Ducky Shine 3 469. But now there's a rm100 discount.
