Hi, I am in love with mechanical keyboard since i was a student. Last time in love with Filco.
Now I am working and I am planning to get one.

Budget: < RM500 (can top up RM100 extra if that product really good)
Type: Full-size.
Switches: I haven't try all. I like MX Blue but its clicky sound sometimes can be annoying. Prefer switch which soft to press, tactile & little clicky (I think is MX Brown?)
I prefer something durable (Quality 1st), future-proof, slightly metal furnished (looks good).
Lighting is optional added point.

As far as I know, some mecha. KB can be modified? their PCB also have different type and supplier? Any idea to try all MX switches in real life?

I come across Corsair K70 RGB (looks sturdy) vs Razer Chroma (nice illumination with extra USB and audio-in & microphone-out port but am I the one who feel kailh switches weird to press?)

Ducky shine also have many user.

Please throw me with bunch of recommendations! Thank you smile.gif

The stock switch that is closest to your requirements is MX White (not MX Clear)
It is a variation of MX Blue but comes with a softer click.
It is also unfortunate to tell you that it is a rare switch, but it could probably be because I didn't personally source for that switch before.

Other alternative is to lube the MX Blue switch, it should make the clickiness and tactile a bit softer (depending on what lube and how you lube, there's a chance that you might not get any clicky sound at all)

MX Brown doesn't have any clicky sound at all. It's a light weight, light tactile switch.

When you say some mkb can be modified, what sort of modification are you looking at?

As of now, I'm not sure if there's any keyboard that fits your requirements, but my first initial thought was CM QuickFire Rapid-i (I think there's only Brown switch available in Malaysia stock, but I may be mistaken)
It has a pretty nice design, white LED, Brown switch and cost RM399, which is under RM500.
The only thing is that it doesn't have any metal finish and it doesn't have numpad (not sure if you are particular about numpad or not since you didn't mention them)

Your other option is Ducky Shine series, but it is a little bit pricier and they have fullsize keyboard.

Another option is to get a fully customised keyboard, but expect the price to go beyond RM600 for a custom keyboard that has the switch and body finish according to your specifications, and that cost is most likely not included the cost for keycaps yet.

he did mention full size thats why i recommend ducky and Cm storm Rapid - I price drop to rm330 online and some retailer unless you buy from retail  shop like heavyarm still cost rm380 and there is brown switch i seen them before

I don't have any mechanical keyboard before. Just tried filco before. That Ducky Legend is limited edition right?

Huh. I don't know got MX white. I saw some keycaps mod, LED mod, casing mod. If I'm not mistaken, avoid to get gaming keyboard because they are not standard size and restrict modification right. If I have knowledge then see what should I modify. For instance just buy n use 1st.

Ducky Keyboard quality should be okay right?
*
i don't think i've seen MX White on any brands of mkb before tongue.gif

yes, if you are looking to change keycaps, pls avoid gaming keyboards.
if you aren't sure if the keyboard is standard layout or not, just ask over here.

and yes, ducky should be fine but over the last few months i've seen some reports of malfunctioned led.
so i'm not so quick to recommend ducky for now...but again, this is a minor issue.

Budget?
Do you like tactile feedback?
Do you like to annoy people?
Do you prefer number row or numpad?
Do you like bling bling lighting?

Powet i'm a mx blue lover as well when i started off my mechanical keyboard journey. then i tried mx brown few months later, didn't quite like it because the tactile is almost negligible compared to mx blue.

along the way i tried other switch as well, red, black, clear...

and now i'm a linear switch lover as well (lubed mx black using mx blue's spring)
don't get me wrong, i still love mx blue. but linear switch gives me the best satisfied feeling when i'm at work or when gaming.

i only come to that conclusion after testing all the switches hands on.

what i also realized is that the case+plate will also be a factor to me for different switches.
acrylic case and full alu case, i love them to bits when using linear switch.
i am yet to try out a full alu case with mx blue.
when it comes to OEM case such as ducky, filco, keycool, i love using mx blue.
probably it's because they are using metal plate on hollow plastic case. it resonates the clicky sound and feeling with each press. very nice but also very loud! laugh.gif

so after my karangan, i give you a TL;DR version,

You kena cuba test try by yourself to find out what's the best for you.

justordinary gaming with blue is totally fine for me, but too noisy, my surrounding people all can't tahan.. sad.gif

justnits i tried red and brown too, not really like it.. my next board would be TKL version, but not sure which switches i should go after..
*
i know what you mean. i tried red and brown on OEM boards, i didn't like it either.
the sound doesn't give me the oomph or hhnnnggghhh feeling.

there are other factors as well that will contribute to whether you would like it or not.
such as keycaps profile (OEM/Asia/Filco, Cherry, SP DCS, SP DSA, SP SA), keycaps thickness, keycaps material (ABS, PBT, metal), plate, casing type, switch type, switch spring, lubed or no lubed, height angle, adding non-slip mat underneath pcb, stickered switch (i'm still unsure if the sticker actually contributes to stability or typing feel or not, but i'll still do it anyway sweat.gif)

as you can see, there's a lot of things to factor in.
i have always liked mx blue on oem boards such as my ducky shine 2 and my friend's DAS keyboard and poker 2.
i'm going to try mx black or mx clear on my shine 2 and see how it goes.

got friends to pinjam u? biggrin.gif

Same! Haha. I disassemble all of them after going through like 20 switches one by one
*
eh, how old is your mx blue switch?
because hor, i'm not sure if you realized or noticed, the white piece on the switch, if you look at the 2 small 'leg' of the slider, u might noticed some slightly greasy substance on it.
i'm not sure if it's because of chemical reaction with the copper piece inside the switch or friction.

but i use cotton bud to clean them because i want more tactile on my mx blue.

Just bought wan. I noticed them. I think it's the grease pre-applied from cherry. After removing them you get more tactility? I thought of removing it too but i don't have thick grease to lube it back later on so i didn't do it. Did u clean the part on the metal leaf too? I saw some grease there too.

I noticed that on some the grease is thicker and on some it's thinner and it makes the switch not consistent. Some clicks at louder pitch some clicks are lower pitch.(I'm not sure if its because of the inconsistent grease thickness but i'm pretty sure it is). I didn't really notice tactility difference though.

Btw sell me your cable!!
*
no time to do cable yet >.<

i bought some new switch before and noticed that the new ones doesn't have the grease thing on it but then again, i'm not sure if that's original original cherry or clone original cherry laugh.gif

anyway, i did clean my mx blue stem and the copper part as well, using tweezer and some tiny cotton ball...not fun, but for the sake of tactile, i did it anyway lol!

the inconsistent sound might be due to the different batch of switch or it might not be original original cherry...

i used to think blue is the best switch for me for typing usage.
but then i tried lubed vintage black with light spring (50-55g) and it's finish.

Typed with my Nerd TKL lubed vintage black with mx blue stock spring.
