QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Jan 19 2015, 10:50 PM) May I know why you keep suggesting this keyboard? While it is the quieter amongst mechanical keyboards, you'll be in for some noise upgrade as reds are quite noisy as well.Seems like you highly recommend this. Anyway, I contacted cyntrix and they say they can preorder the ducky zero for me. Saw one shop in pyramid selling ducky zero for 379 while the price in garage sales is only 299. When I asked whether can they give me a better price, they say 370. Straight say ok tq and left the shop. Will place my deposit for a non-tkl one since the difference is only rm20 between a tkl and non-tkl verison. Lastly, need some confirmation. i can't go wrong with a ducky keyboard right? I plan to find a solid and simple keyboard ( no led and initially planned to get a tkl one, but will go for full size instead. ), would also appreciate it if it didn't make too much noise ( hence i chose the mx red switches ) . QUOTE(amon90 @ Jan 19 2015, 10:56 PM) Far from it. But it is very well built. |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Jan 19 2015, 11:06 PM) Yes, i understand that mkb will have some noise no matter what. I can cope with the sound ( not really considered as noise. Better ask other people Anyway, what's your opinion on ducky zero as my first plunge into mkb territory? I have not been using Duckies for a long time. Reds are fine. If you want a lower noise by sacrificing slightly the key feel, I'd recommend getting O-rings. Helps with the noise a lot. But then again, people around you are really sensitive to noise, you'd need more than O-rings to solve the problem. Just get a Topre Silent for instance, but that's too much of an investment for most people. |

QUOTE(joonwei23 @ Jan 20 2015, 01:23 AM) Actually GON's price for MX Clears is reasonable. I had to fork out 0.65 Euros per switch last year when I got it from 7Bit This site in TW used to be selling Clears for NT$10 (RM1~ish) each. I miss the good old days. But yeah. Never shopped from taobao before. I know a lot of people over at GH source like a compaq keyboard with Cherry MX clears inside on eBay. If you're in US, eBay usually has pretty sweet deals on stuffs like this. Europe on the other hand, not so much |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Jan 23 2015, 11:32 PM) ![]() I see. I think only apply for those ppl that rest their palm, which make SA not comfortable to type on. My habits when typing, are hanging my hands in the air. That's why I will ask such questions why not practical, because high profile, OEM, Cherry same for me. That is how the Duck Viper is designed, with both back kick stand permanently in place Took me one week to get used to it I guess SA also the same. The profile that I can't get used to, at all, is the DCS. |

The incompetent cherry corp is allowing aternative switch manufacturers to rise. Cherry is expensive and have super long lead time. It gives plenty of space or these chinese manufacturers to rise.
With more design iterations and customer feedback, cherry corp will the selection of the masterrace keyboard users only soon. I would think that in 5 years, these china clones gonna be as good as cherry mx. |

QUOTE(justordinary @ Jan 31 2015, 07:54 PM) Thats what i think too. Being the monopoly in the industry for too long makes them incompetent now that new competition has rises. They are far from a monopoly. You had alps, ibm etc competing with cherry. It seems that cherry is the one still holding it out with mechanical key switches, together with topre. The rest mostly abandoned the business. And few years back, the mechanial keys was somehow revived and cherry received a bunch of business. I would take a guess and think that this is not cherry's doing, in reviving the mechanical keyboard business on the consumer end anyway. They stuck with their old way of doing things and here we are now with a bunch of chinese clones. |

White filco is not really white, it looks like color of white rice.
Plus the cable will go slightly yellow, need to mod after a while, unless you can stand yellow color. |

QUOTE(MrTrip @ Feb 2 2015, 09:28 AM) It like 3 year already, definitely out of warranty. I am looking to fix this myself Single LED dim or all the LED dim across the whole array?I don't expect any backlit LED to perform forever, from any brands If its PCB issue, is it any way around it? Powering the LED via switch or externally? All the keys are dimmed, which made me believe that it is some sort of power issue When I pull the USB out, I can see in a brief moment that it will light at it brightest Well warranty is out of question. I have a solder, just need the timah to solder it If LED is the case, then replacing it should solve it What puzzles me is all the LED dimmed I was hoping to create a external switch, so that I can turn it on and off manually I need the circuit diagram to know this specifically Gombak. Never opened it since I bought it 3 years ago. I don't mind opening this myself to fix it though If single LED, then replacement should be no problem. If whole thing dim, then dipshit liao. Can anyone please educate me on the clone switches, or send me a link?
Kaihua (kailh?), gaote etc. Curious to try out the Kaihua browns after reviews mentioning that it is a more tactile MX brown, but less tactile than MX clears. Which is to me, the best tactile feeling. |
