i called up PWC just now, they mentioned the intakes for March 09 had just passed (yesterday).. the next session will be for June'09 intake.

oh well, too heard from seniors that PWC prefers experience candidate now rather than fresh grads - anyone care to share some POV ?

Correction:

Big 4 audit firm:
1) PWC
2) Deloitte
3) EY
4) KPMG

Lately, ITR recognize Deloitte as Asia Tax Firm of the year

To access the full report on these rankings, please visit the ITR website (www.internationaltaxreview.com)

I've seen the article. But KPMG is the "Malaysia Tax Firm of the Year". Wouldn't this be more applicable since we are working here in Malaysia??

This might seem petty, but if you are going to apply for PwC..do get it right. Some managers are quite particular, it's elementary to know who you want to work with

It's not PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Pricewaterhouse Coopers nor is it PWC
It's PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

1. They are hiring less, but I'm not sure about the intakes. I can ask my HR Dept for you though. Might take awhile 'cos most ppl are on leave at the end of the year.

2. It's not true. PwC (and I can vouch for other Big4) are hiring, be it fresh grad or experienced professionals.

Working in the Big 4 is so dull and boring..... interned in one of them last summer and I swear I was counting the seconds till I can get home.

I prefer banks (invesment banks) better, much higher pace and pressure.

That's why you're still interns, it takes time. You have yet to acquire the relevant skills sets, what more can you ask?
I can attest that if you were an intern in an IB, wouldn't be much of a difference.

PS: The Big4 doesn't only revolve around Audit.

Work will only be interesting, if you're interested with it. Yea, intern with a big 4 quite boring as most of your time would be doing nothing or photostating. Try intern with those smaller firms, you will get lots of exposure.

I'm having fun with audit now, can you imagine?

Hey people, is the difference between having a honours degree or an ordinary degree a big factor the Big 4 consider?

I would like to know what i can work as with an economics degree. smile.gif

Well, a little.. it might help you get noticed by the Big4 faster. But in terms of pay, nope.. there will not be a difference.
I came in w/o an honours degree (as if I'd taken one, it would have needed me to study for an extra year).

Since Economics (to my understanding of my Uni days) have several core / elective papers on Commerce (Accounting), you would still be able to get into Assurance (i.e. Audit). They have in-firm training for non-Accounting graduates. The Advisory Dept is an option, but it depends on the relevance altogether.

I noticed that a few of your recent posts are of this sort of nature. Please do not spam if your intention is just to increase your post count.

tkd84: I think it's best if you contact the HR department 'cos as far as I know, they aren't anybody from that dept. here.

I have applied for advisory function at PwC.
I am a fresh graduate with Ba(Hons) Accounting and Finance.
In strategy papers of CIMA.
But I failed to get into the advisory role.

sad.gif

Anybody in the advisory role in any of the big 4 here?

Based on my friends in Advisory (both EY and PwC), the advisory team is really having a shortage of jobs at the moment. Most of their junior staff have already been seconded to audit teams since audit is now going into their peak.

Also, as far as I know, the advisory team rarely hires fresh grad's....unless your results are particularly exceptional or there are some other quality that they like (I noticed that it helps if you can speak with "ang-moh" slang)
