Ok, went for an interview in Deloitte and BDO today. I can see that BDO is aggressively promoting their status as new "big 4". They changed the measuring criteria into "total mkt capitalisation" to be classified as big4. What are u guys opinion on this?

My opinion - Its like Manchester City. Yes, richer(market capitalisation so to say), but still not the big 4? biggrin.gif yes, growing as well, just like how they plan to build their squad. But i still dont forsee them being a big 4 in at least next 3 years?

But I would say one plus point is that, they do pay higher for first class degree biggrin.gif (well that was what i was told anyway).

Btw, apparently, deloitte doesnt pay extra for ACCA grads. Still remain at RM2450. Any ACCA grads in Deloitte mind sharing whether is this statement true?

I asked them, but they didnt mentioned. They said that basic was same as other big4s, I believe its RM2450. And, they will review on your degree class and "consider" rewarding on students' effort for obtaining a first class.

If I'm not mistaken, i sent an application to both around late December. Don't worry, most probably you will get a call soon. BDO is in need of good staffs for a rigorous expension. All the best!

I think at this trying times, if you get accepted into any of the Big4 (or Big5.. if you include BDO), you should take it. Recruitment is slowing down a bit, so HR can afford to be more picky on their candidates..

Hmm, today KPMG called. Then when i asked them what should I bring, they mentioned the usual stuffs... and calculator!

Seems like their assessment wouldn't be easy, do they ask additional maths type of questions, or just basic IQ questions? Because if a test which requires the use of calculator..I'm afraid it would be really tricky.

Anyone kind enough to share feedback on recent KPMG assessment test? Thanks in advanced!

I have a question here, wonder if anyone can give me some insight into it.

Under normal circumstances, would a candidate with prior internship experience in the local big4s stands a better chance (especially when applying back to the company they intern-ed at previously) in getting shortlisted into the interview process, assuming that the feedback received during internship is positive?

Thanks smile.gif

Hello there!
May I know what position are you applying for?
I went for an interview with KPMG yesterday.
To tell you the truth, the Math test was harder than the English test.
You have to answer 28 questions in 20 minutes.
So roughly you have a less than a minute to attempt 1 question.
I'm usually really good at Math but I got only 50% on that test.
Actually the questions were not that hard, but you have to read, think and calculate fast.
Basically, they gave you charts, graphs, tables etc and you have to answer the questions based on the graphs.
They actually want to test whether you can work under pressure and whether you are able to think and act fast.
Anyway, good luck! Let us know how it goes. smile.gif

I forgot to add. I don't think you need to bring your calculator as they will provide it to you.
But I don't know. To be safe, just bring it.

Oh really? What time you were there? I applied for tax consulting assistant. Did the interviewer tell you how much did you get for both tests?
How was the interview? My interview was not so well. I've read in here that there will be no technical questions for fresh graduates. But guess what? The interviewer asked me technical questions from the beginning. But in the end, she asked me a few questions about myself. The interview went for over an hour sweat.gif . Anyway, good luck to you. If I'm not mistaken, you also went for an interview with Deloitte, right? Have they called you yet?
PM me too if you get any results. Now I'm waiting with agony. The interviewer said that if I got accepted, she will call me by next week.

Here are some of the interview questions that I encountered yesterday during my interview with Deloitte in Damansara uptown. This was the post of Audit Assistant.

Why are you interested to work here?

How much do you know about the related field?

Are you willing to travel?

Are you willing to work late?

How do you know about the company?

Do you have any friends working in other big 4 accounting firm?

Have you heard about Deloitte from any where else?

Where do you see yourself in 2 years time?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Where do you see yourself after 5 years?

To be honest this was my first interview and I was really really nervous that I blurted things out before really thinking much about it. But it was a good experience.

The assessment tests are as follows:

1. English Essay Test in say 15 to 20 minutes (I got "Yourself". Had problems writing since I haven't written essays in like years?)

2. 100 MCQ English Test in say 15 to 20 minutes (This one tests your English. Unless your English is perfect or extremely good, you might have some hard times for a few questions)

3. 30 to 50 IQ Test (Can't remember exactly how many. Couldn't finish everything so I had to start shooting the answers)

There were 5 people including myself who were there and everyone had a tough time with the IQ test.

I think my chances of getting through are pretty slim. But it's over already. I am now preparing for my interview tomorrow with Russel Bedford Malaysia.

Good luck for those who wish to apply for Deloitte.

By the way can someone give me some guidance how to answer "Why did you choose audit?" and "Why did you choose this firm?"

Kind of struggling a little on these 2 questions. Thanks in advance.

I know it's a little off topic but I really need a quick response.

<Why did you choose audit?>

I usually mention that in Audit, we work in various industry, see different companies, thus not so stagnant, whereas in commercial, we only see the same thing most of the time.

Then can also mention, dunlike 9-5 job, like to challenge self to meet deadlines, achieve targets.

<Why did you choose this firm?>

I mentioned about my lecturer's experience in that firm, and I was so interested that I would like to experience it myself. Can also say you heard alot positive response from seniors, or the exposure u will get from the firm. However, preferably speak the truth, because sometimes they will ask more detailed. I bet you have ur own personal reasons or desire to join the firm right? Just say it smile.gif

Well, thats my opinion anyway, haven't got any job offers so far, so might not be credible.

Thanks.. It'll do

Btw if they asked you if you have applied for other big 4 firms, say no even though you did apply. Use this if you were rejected by the other big 4 firms. They don't want to be hiring rejects now do they?

Oh is it? I said yes wor.. but then when they ask me if I got any offer, i said still pending, will know in approx 2 weeks.

Shit, now i scared if they dunwan me just because I applied to others.

But then again, I think they would have expected fresh grads to apply to other big 4s. I mean, who puts all their eggs into one basket?
