welcome to the club. June intake is the best intake as our annual promotion is in june so you don't risk being overdue to anything.

Haha, I think the big4 all have different period of promotion already. PwC is June, EY is Sept, KP is Dec... Hence, if you plan to join January, might as well go for EY/KP, whereas June/Sept, go for PwC/EY.

Not sure how it works in other firms, but it doesnt seem easy to be promoted in KP if only 6 months exp before promotion...

Love my saturday morning at the clients office. I think in current climate its easier to promote someone than seeing them leaving.

At least 9 months before you can be considered for promotion.

I've received KP's conditional offer a few days ago. Dept K I hope, I haven't accepted it yet laugh.gif And Itu Dia Man, I think dept K is very structured, organised, and they were quite concerned about the VTs last year. Held lunch for us with the partner and managers and etc on the last day of internship (wasn't my last day though). Dept secretary called us up to attend and asked seniors to release us for a day. biggrin.gif I won't say it's the best cos I haven't worked in each department before. But K certainly rocks!!!!!!!

I heard it was a minimum of 10 months, unless you are very exceptional and the managers recommend you to be promoted. The thing is KPMG has abolished the rank of AA1 and AA2 leaving all as just Associates. So you'll just get the increment at the end of the day.

Congrats, well you should be rejoining Audit K as you were a VT there. Its fair to say that Audit K is currently the most stable department in KPMG and to say it is the best is not an overstatement. You can see it by the way they treat the VTs.

rclxub.gif When did they abolish that? I was aware of some changes in the 'title' of the positions after the promotion was announced (or in conjunction with) but increment after 2 years? That's a little too much to take in now. cry.gif

Thanks. My senior told me that there were a few (maybe just one or two) previous VTs of K being posted to P instead. Well, we know the situation. Let's hope that I'm not one of them.

I'm thinking of working in Singapore/Australia. Still undecided.

Its not after 2 years. Previously you will get promoted to AA1 (usually after your first year), but now since that rank has been abolished, you will only get the increment. Its like getting an increment but with no change in the title. You will only get promoted to S3 after about 2 years as an Associate providing you do not screw up.

You should insist on remaining in K. If not, there are still many choices out there. The partner was saying that the job market in Singapore is opening up again so this is a good time to work there.

Ohh, I get it now. Thanks. That's not too bad, at least we're recognised by increment, it's still better than the other way round (getting the title but not the increment laugh.gif) Have you met people screwing up and not get promoted to S3 after 2 years of AA? What constitutes 'screwed up'? Just curious.

I will still apply for jobs in Singapore. I hope my results are good enough to qualify for Singapore's standard (if there's any difference). And thanks again for the info!

Well, I know some who stayed as AA2 for nearly two years before getting promoted to AA1, so you wonder why they did not get promoted at the first place. The term 'screw up' can be defined in many ways. I'll use a simple example. You propose a figure adjustment to the client because your calculation differs greatly from the client's accounts. You insist on the client taking up the adjustment and eventually they do. Later on, you found out that the difference in the calculation was actually down to your own casting error. This would mean that the client need to reverse the adjustment out in the next financial year. In short, you screwed up. The following year's team would have to incur the wrath of the client sweat.gif

Good luck then thumbup.gif

When in doubt, think of the word "prudence". The basis and building block of all accounting standards.
