I haven't invested much in the iOS ecosystem (except I bought Triple Town tongue.gif)... before my 5S/6, I was using an S3... and before that I was using the rarer OSes like Maemo/MeeGo.

I ended up on iOS solely for the international warranty. Hard to say no to that if you travel reasonably often. If Android had an equivalent hardware manufacturer that offered international warranty, I'd probably jump right back over... although I'd miss hand off in iOS 8 tongue.gif

Check Apple communities, plenty of people asking about international warranty for iPhone. There isn't one. You have to get warranty service in country of origin purchased from.

Anyone experienced or have knowledge about international warranty, I would be glad to have a look.

Probably it's the network. Try restarting your phone.

I've personally seen a Malaysian (2x) and Singaporean (1x) iPhone 5 exchanged 1-to-1 in the Netherlands for a grand total of 3 times... and a Retina Macbook Pro 15 bought in KL that was also offered a 1-to-1 (but my friend declined because he had stickers on the rMBP that he liked). Not sure about you... but this looks like international warranty to me.

Macbook and ipad are international warranty, so no issue with claiming it. As for iPhones, I am not sure about netherlands policy, but in Malaysia, it's not as easy as that.

Yes. You are almost perfectly 100% right. Claiming warranty in Malaysia is always in the grey area. this is because malaysia is not a distribution hub. All the returned devices will be sent to Singapore for replacement. Last time telcos used to keep high volume of refurbished set for warranty purposes but now it seems they will refer the claim to service centre in respective states.

That's why am interested to find out. MacBook are clear cut as the warranty page shows global warranty coverage.

iPhone was a little muddle. The warranty page doesn't exactly say no, but there are clause Apple may restrict replacement (all the legal mumbo jumbo).

The way I look at it is if you buy a Malaysian iPhone, and travel to a first world country (EU/US)... chances are you will have no problem sending your iPhone for warranty... maybe not 1-to-1 but at least you can get it repaired while overseas.

If I'm travelling to a developing country, I won't hold my hopes up.

End of the day, when I'm not in KL, I'm in the EU... and Apple EU honors my warranty no questions asked (and in fact by default have to honor it for 2 years thanks to consumer protection laws)... More than good enough for me smile.gif

(Sorry for all the first world country people coming to Malaysia hahaha)

For you it's a non-issue buying iPhones over here and having them warrantied by Apple Store in the US/EU since you're frequent traveler. However for those who don't travel often, and those thinking of buying foreign/AP sets and have them warrantied here, the term International Warranty is a bit misleading to say the least...

There's no international warranty for iPhones per se. The most reliable rule is that the warranty is only good in the country of purchase. That said, Apple does exercise its discretion to bend or waive that rule depending on circumstances and the person involved. Where the said discretion is most generously applied is when the phone is purchased from an Apple retail (not online) store absent in Msia and Spore.

Whilst never disclosed as such, Apple does regard purchases from its retail stores it owns and operates as a direct purchase from Apple itself. Hence, Apple retail store purchases are as close to an international warranty as one can get - in effect a surrogate international warranty.

Agree with u. I got a replacement for my iPhone 4 last time in Manchester. It bought the phone from Maxis ten months previously. They did check my iPhone in their system and mentioned to me that it was a genuine one purchased in Malaysia. I assume they still practise same policy right now.
