I have to change another alternator today. It is the third or 4th alternator in 2 years. They keep on saying got oil leak that is seeping into the alternator. This cause it unable to charge the battery and i have to swap for another 1.

Is there anyway to get rid of the oil in the alternator? Everytime change also RM3xx. Very painful for my wallet. doh.gif

Thanks a lot. Good thing i kept those alternators instead of leaving them in the shop that i repair.

I hope they also can check up the compressor oil etc.

I kinda prefer to drive this car until i got very rich. Otherwise, i won't be changing car for quite some time.

For now, i left with 2 (including today 1).

I will find a free time to go and get it repaired just in case. The current alternator have 3 months warranty though.

Sharing is caring, so i will let u know the result. smile.gif

BTW, do you know any car "boneyard" that i can get used stuff such as used auto gearbox??

I am surprised that oil leaks can affect the alternator. I had oil leaks too, from
the rocker cover seal, but it does not reach the alternator which is located away
from the engine. Or is oil leaking from the power steering pump? Even then,
these two leaks can be repaired (rocker seal is cheap and easily replaced). Any
traces of the oil seepage tracks?

i worry if they modify the wiring like that, later short circuit.my whole car got burn down  rclxub.gif

yes the lights at radio, ligheter aircond all working..tail lights and small lights working too

yes as the bulb is changed as shown at the picture

Yes, agree that shoddy wiring can lead to fires. I had a problem with my air-cond
switch socket (OEM, not modified) which generated so much heat the switch melted.

So far I have not made any wiring extensions, but when my air-cond fan fuse holder
in the engine bay was having bad contact, the mechanic changed by making proper
crimped joints to the wire that he cut off. Previously I have seen mechanics doing
repairs by splicing and twist/wrap wiring around exposed wires - this is unsafe
because the slight contact generates heat which causes oxidation and makes it worse.

When I bought the sockets/connectors, I ask about the crimp pliers, the salesgirl say
that crimping is not important, just to make it look nice. I disagree. Crimping is practice
that have procedures/specs to ensure good formation of solid conductor.

A good mechanic/electrician should be able to do proper sockets, connections
and insulation etc that are safe. Maybe you can go to a mechanic/electrical repair shop and
ask for proper socket connectors with proper crimped joints, not by splicing and twist/wrap
wiring around exposed wires. The end result which looks like OEM connection, not like bud
grafting. The meter lights load is quite small, should not be dangerous.

Alternatively, if you want to change the harness, I am not sure if available, but according to
internet searches the item is listed as a spare part.

I just had my engine washed yesterday. I'll go back to check where is the oil leaks locations.

Previously, the under the main gasket side. Maybe need to consider doing overhaul.

Hi all,

would like to consult u a few questions

1. hw much air pressure u use for tyre? I'm currently using 220 but my mechanic friend suggest me fir 250, is it safe?

2. after some tuning for my car, the idle vibration has reduced to the minimum level, however, my fuel consumption has noticeably increase, would u suggest me to just adjust the idling myself to lower?

Thanks sifu sifu!

250 is 36.2
i would recommend trying out between 34-35.

different tires would have different comfort levels/nvh/performance/pressure tolerance (you'll notice that majority have a very safe margin of around 40-45 psi max air pressure)

adjust AFR, idling, and check your engine mountings.
consider to perform decarbon too and after decarbon have an oil change smile.gif (consider doing this as you're upon OCI)

...
The specified pressure from the user manuals & door labels are summarized below.
Not sure why Iswara specified lower pressures.
250 may be too high for comfortable ride.

Today the mechanic shop inform me a few things:

1. Distributor in the engine is leaking oil. It does not impact other engine component. Hence, not planning on repairing it.

2. Power sterling pump is leaking and it is impacting the alternator. In long run, it will still cause the alternator to fail. It is recommended to fix it. True?

3. Air con compressor confirm faulty. I prefer to replace it. How much it is gonna cost? Last time i learnt it is RM900. shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

1) can consider change the distributor o ring.

2) AFAIK la, you pour water or oil on the damn distributor, it shouldn't affect.
bear in mind it is exposed and rain water easily splashes it.
still, it is best to fix any leaks as they are not good.

3) ori denso is 800-1k. consider getting that, and before installing it, ENSURE the entire system is cleaned out with chemicals so that no debris/dirt will contaminate/accelerate degradation of the new compressor. else you would be potentially wasting your money.

chances are once the compressor goes dead, most likely the entire air cond system gets contaminated with it's sludge/metal wear etc

You mean alternator? IMO, rain water not like oil. Oil tend to accumulate and hard to get it off.

Quite painful for that compressor. Wallet hurts..... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

then 1) solve the leak 2) use degreaser on the alternator now and then to clear any build up
