QUOTE(sylar111 @ Nov 12 2014, 05:27 PM)
Well, the truth is.

God uses reality to train us up. It hasn't reach the stage whereby the supernatural is dorminant.
God provides us with wisdom to deal with reality.

Yes, what is seen is temporarily(reality)
The unseen is eternal(spiritual)

The thing with you is. You think that just because you are in Christ, you do not think you have to live in reality anymore.
The fact is reality gets even real when you are in Christ.

Because we are in Christ, We have to undergo persecution etc. Things will no longer go as smoothly as before. We also get more attack from Satan. Things can actually get worse.

Christians in Islam countries even have to die in the name of Christ.

The thing is, through reality, we can also confirm our identity in Christ. When people persecute us because we speak the truth. When people persecute us because we reveal our identity in Christ, it just confirms even more that we are Children of God.
You think that because we are in Christ, we will proper(Things will get better)

The thing is, we will not. In fact, because we are in Christ, we may even be poorer for that(materialistically) because we use our resources to help those in need.

The thing is, the verse which you posted. Yes, we fix our eyes unseen. Not what is seen.
So that is why even though we may suffer from a materialistic point of view or even sometimes an emotional or social point of view,
we look forward because we focus on the eternal things.

Even though our friends or even family will insult us because of our belief. We may even lose dignity. We may even lose material things. But because we are in Christ, we perservere because we are holding on for the hope in the future.

The thing about you is, you are always on the view that God has to do things your way just because you have been saved. You make God your puppet rather then your lord.
Now there is a possibility that God would want a change in direction in your life. But then there is also a possibility that God wants to use the situation to train you up even more.

If there is a strong conviction in you that changing of direction is the way to go, then go for it. If not, then most likely you are just trying to convince yourself that this is the direction that you want to go when in fact God did not intend you to change direction.
*
yes totally agree with you on this, this is the reason why many missionaries spend many years abroad just to preach the gospel..........as Jesus Himself spent many years before starting His Ministry

QUOTE(Sophiera @ Nov 11 2014, 11:55 PM)
If wearing wool and cotton weaved together is a sin, that means eating dairy and meat together is a sin too.

Piercings and tattoos had heavy connections to pagan rituals. Same are with eating rats and pork and offerings.
Tattooing ritualistic patterns is of course not advised.
*
In the Old Testament book of Leviticus did say that eating pork is unclean. I can't remember where but its there. blush.gif

But in the New Testament, when Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sins, some of the Old laws are not carried over. So, its ok to eat pork.

1 Timothy 4:1-5 New International Version (NIV)

4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

I mean, Bak Kut Teh is such an amazing culinary invention. So tender and yummy..

QUOTE(pehkay @ Nov 12 2014, 05:34 PM)
hmm.gif I don't know .... <thinking> maybe I didn't made it clear enough. So I will "sacrifice" you biggrin.gif on the altar lar (forgive me).  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Most of the questions asked ... is in the principle of the law or the Old Testament way. Can I wear "mixed" clothing? Can I have tattoo? Should I smoke? Should I practice Sabbath or not? Etc.

The principle of the law is you want someone human or something to tell you what to do steps by steps. Man likes to have clear instructions from the Bible concerning everything he does. If the Bible tells us what to do step by step, all we have to do is to act accordingly in a simple way. This is keeping the law.

By walking according to these hundreds and thousands of items of the law, a man becomes clear what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil. He also becomes clear concerning the way he should take. This is the law. It is lifeless. Once a man begins to walk according to this dead law, he can put God aside and ignore Him.

However, God wants direct fellowship with us. He wants us to receive His revelation and then act according to His revelation. If we do not fellowship with Him, the Spirit will have no outlet for His work.

---------

In the Old Testament, people put on earrings in order to beautify themselves. So, spiritually, earring signifies self-beautification according to this age. Today’s culture promotes self-beautification. Men and women spend a great deal of money on items used to beautify themselves. Self-beautification leads to idolatry.

Paul says we need to "put on Christ". To put on Christ is to clothe ourselves with Christ. Whenever we clothe ourselves in a certain way, we indicate that we intend to live in that way. In like manner, to put on Christ means that we live by Christ, in Christ, and with Christ. In particular, it means that we live out Christ. Christ becomes the expression of our living. Immediately after we have been put into Christ and have entered into an organic union with Him, we need to live Christ, to put Christ on in our living. Day by day, we need to be clothed with Christ and express Him as we live in Him, by Him, and with Him.

Experientially, we are experiencing Christ in every aspect of our daily life, for example, in the clothes we wear, in the way we cut our hair, and in our attitudes. In everything, great or small, we need to experience Christ. In wearing shoes, in cutting our hair, and even in expressing our attitudes, we should have Christ.

So, the question you will be asking, does the Lord within you as you fellowship with Him, wear the earring with you? Do you have peace within? Is He one with you in this matter?

I think its alright for women (and men) to wear nice clothes, make-up, etc. As long as we wear modestly and do not spend too much time and money on self beautification, is fine with me.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

Ok ok enough of me.

Today I lost my best friend for 10 years because she don't like me being a Christian. I'm devastated. How could she do this to me?

She's my tattoo and clubbing buddy. Of course now, I, er, stop frequenting clubs anymore. hehe...

I actually face almost the exact thing when I become christian about 16 years ago. I have this best friend during form 4 and form 5. But after form 5, we are still keep some friendship although not as close but when i become christian during diploma and 'argue' with him in email related to religion, the good old friendship gone just like that. Now already 16 years later, actually I still miss my old friendship with him. I try to message him in facebook but seem like no response.

Sorry to hear that. I guess in our predicament, we can't choose between unbelieving friends and God. Wah, at least you still can message you friend in FB, my best friend block me in FB. sad.gif

I mean, its not like I ask my friend to become a Christian too.

I told her that being a Christian mean I cannot hang out with her going to pubs / clubs anymore. No more of those hedonistic lifestyle. So she can't accept that.

No more tattoo, piercing, etc...Told her my body is sacred. Now belong to Jesus.

She said I'm just faking it. Uh, that really hurt my feelings. I'm praying and reading bible verses everyday, why would I fake that? shakehead.gif

Hi Tina, there are many truth i would like to share:
1. You pay the price for declaring you are christian. there is a reward for that.
2. You don't know the freedom like me or UW, therefore based on your best knowledge, best intention, genuine faith, you say something that make your frenship gone.
3. If carl lenz hillonsg nyc open church in KL, pretty much you and your fren can go to carl lenz church. your reason: hey, may pastor has tatoo... well it's only imagination: unless you stay in New York. Here is malaysia.
4. GOD's in control. GOD know what best for you.
5. Just pray, and better ask your cell group to pray for your fren so soon or later she can be like you. Actually somebody pray for you in the past. You probably don't know. It is impossible somebody like you can be saved simply because you google... there is a load of spiritual warfare that prevent somebody to know Christ, and somebody intercede for you. They won, you receive Christ. Now you can continue the legacy.

QUOTE(General Fahmy @ Nov 13 2014, 11:08 AM)
I am rather the opposite. Most of my friends are unbelievers except one special person I know who is a christian.

Reason being? I felt betrayed by my christian peers. Like the church I am currently attending for 6 blasting years not even one friend I can trust. My previous church of 6 years, not even one person kept in touch. When I moved from one cg to another, because the cg leader moved his cg to wednesday which was inconvenient to me, the previous cg leader don't even bother to say hi when he see me at church. Some of the church people are so fake, I know them for so many years, invite them for some stuff, they just ffk me. Its not even to decline my invitation ! Instead they say, i will come lah, but when i go there, i kena ffk. After i confront these people why you do this to me? Then they start to reveal a long laundry list at me, about why they have problem with me.

Not like my unbeliever friends. If they have open house, they will invite right away. I have 20 years since childhood/kindergarden friendship with some of my unbeliever best friends. They got YEE HEI, when they say they do this, they will do it. Not like the christians at my church, they just promise me something, and then next day, they pull out their promise and give me a long laundry list of complains.

Some of my unbelieving friends even invite me to their house, share with me their food stuff, even give me gift bags of expensive food stuff to bring back to my family. Not like the hospitality i get from my church peers. Like my youth church, they play so much politics at me. Then last time when they don't have enough quorom, they invite me to their christmas party, and ask me to pay RM60 fee. Then when I paid, go there, sit there like statue, they totally ignored me. When they got their quorom, they just treat you like you are nothing. Neh, that Cheras Tmn Billion church. Crap church.

I've met Christians who are like your friends outside.

There are mix varieties, to be fair, just that, you meet the hard ones.

Yeah, they'll borrow you their cars when you need one, things like that.

In the body of Christ there's a huge variety of people.

But why is it, that we meet the hard ones?

I'll tell you why. It's because God save sinners.

Aren't Sinners, among the worst there is? lol, that's my logic.

I don't doubt that. I know some Buddhist who are very humble and hospitable more than some Christians and likewise some Christians who really caring for others compare to others.

My point is, don't generalize as you have not met every Christian there is in this world. I can sense a little bit of the unforgiveness in your tone. Have to be careful friend, it can stifle your spiritual life.

But then again, that's where the Grace of Christ is magnified.

That's why all of us need God's grace, else you all will be fighting each other.

Ask yourself this, from young till you die don't make friends with anyone got church service will do after service go home don't socialize with church members then you die nobody know who re you at all.

Remember the greatest commandment that Jesus laid out love your neighbours and enemy as you love yourself

Jesus also said there is no greater love than this that a man die for His friends
