What sort of mail is it? If it is trackable locally, then you might be able to arrange something straight with your local post office, though remember you would still probably need to go collect your parcel yourself.

It is trackable. Previously I emailed Pos Malaysia (my timing was good as it was one day after the courier attempted delivery) to get the new PosLaju tracking number for my Royal Mail International Signed For. Then, I collected it at the post office as it's a 10 min walk from my apartment. This time I want to save the courier the hassle of delivering to an empty apartment unit.

Can I email them to say keep an eye out for this tracking number and inform me when it reaches the post office for me to self-collect?

If it's Pos Laju, you can actually arrange for a second delivery on a date you choose FOC, though if the Pos Laju Center (that's different from post office ya btw, in case you didn't know) is so close to you then self collecting will be so much easier lol.

I don't think the common line will be able to do anything for you, as I think you'll need to make special arrangements one..

I've just paid rm85 for my parcel which weighs 10kg, not so bulk in size.... Haisss..pos laju seems to be overpriced for me...

Any can suggest other shipping companies which offer low cost shipping for corporate? I tend to ship out parcels containing biomedical equipments often.

Looking for low cost, at the same time reliable.

Thanks. smile.gif

10kg ma.. Pos Laju is the cheapest EMS option in Malaysia if you post heavy/bulky items only once in a while, but if you do it often then try contacting Skynet. Personally feel that it isn't as reliable as Pos Laju, but I believe that you can arrange for discounted rates if you ship in bulk.

My previous mail was sent to the Pusat Serahan (sorry, not the post office) which is a 10 min walk away. The email said that a second delivery by PosDaftar (not PosLaJu) would not be made.

What's common line? Does it refer to the hotline for Pos Malaysia as opposed to the phone number for individual branches?

Oh I see. Only Pos Laju (they handle expedited mail from overseas) has the second delivery service. For registered post you'll need to go collect it yourself if you've missed the postman.

Yup, that's the common line @ 1-300-300-300

hmm..actually not quite true, for below 10kg, EMS(poslaju) is the cheapest, but above certain kg...its cheaper to use international couriers ups/dhl/tnt (depending on which contry)

example

Msia -> SG, 15kg parcel

EMS -RM232
TNT -RM207
DHL -RM236

both TNT and DHL are way more reliable, faster and fully trackable door to door.

If you just want a quote on your shipping internationally can email the following emails

mbe_bsc@mbe.com.my (bangsar area)
mbe_dpc@mbe.com.my (desaparkcity area)
mbe_bkttinggi@mbe.com.my (bukit tinggi, klang area)

That discussion was referring to roughly 10kg items for delivery within Malaysia. I know Pos Laju's rates for outside Malaysia isn't that competitive for their service. Mailboxes Etc ftw!

need to use dot matrix printer so the carbon copies can be made. normal laser/ink printer cannot one.

Personally I just got a chop with my details, then hand write recipient's details. If you use a LOT one then I guess it'll be worth to invest in a dot matrix printer?

Not sure where to post this. So far I had been satisfied with Pos Malaysia's services(either Parcel, AirMail or PosLaju), but I was wondering if there's any other similarly serviced Courier but is going for cheaper pricing? As I usually send out heavy items(up to 10-11kg per pack most of the time) due to the nature of my products, just wondering if there's any alternative to it without costing a bomb.

Have tried asking about the cooperate account for Pos Malaysia's services, but it seems, other than pick-up services and also the need to only consolidate payment once a month, there's no cheaper rates whatsoever.

How often do you send your parcels out? If it's often enough, or at least regularly, then try contacting fully private courier companies e.g. Skynet, Kangaroo, DHL etc. They usually have corporate rates/bulk rates. I don't know what they are, but I do know of sellers who charge say RM10 for first 3 kg +RM2 per kg after for EMS, which is much much cheaper than Pos Laju's rate

Well.. Other than DHL, it seems to be that Skynet and Kangaroo isn't exactly getting "rave reviews" sweat.gif

Well.. About the frequency, it's not a lot since it's just a part-time business, say 5-7 parcels a week?

Sigh, what to do =/ Personally I've not had trouble with my limited experience with Skynet (not tried Kangaroo before) so maybe you can try there? Try looking for other companies as well, but I won't be surprised if you find that the bigger and more reliable the company, the more expensive they charge

IMO 5-7 parcels a week is a lot, especially since your parcels will be 10kg parcels.

Yeah, since my product is kinda heavy, I'm still starting to choose other companies so that I can get faster shipping, I've been bundling free delivery for my stuff but due to the weight, I can only resort to parcel unless my customer tops up for courier.
