You can post the casing together with all the hardwares installed in the casing, then put the casing inside the box.

Or you also can use your idea. smile.gif

I would go with your way, and add a lot of "Fragile" notes around. To save space you can remove everything d, then pack it nicely into the empty case.

If there's no rush, I'll go with e-parcel, coz fast couriers will probably be expensive. I only use Pos Malaysia stuff, so will suggest Pos Laju if you need it to reach the recipient quickly, but with the size it'll probably be quite expensive. Try and check out Skynet and see whether cheaper or not..

CD should be e-parcel. You can track it at http://www.pos.com.my/pos/homepage/homepg_track.aspx. If there's no result, double check with the sender whether is it e-parcel, and if it is, then it's probably Pos Malaysia having not updated the tracking yet. You can call them at 1-300-300-300 to check.

I have a tips on ordering stuffs overseas, or shipping from overseas to Malaysia.

Normal unregistered post (a.k.a economy shipping without tracking number) will have faster processing time, but has risk to missing items.
Registered Post (a.k.a economy shipping with tracking number) will have slower processing time, but more secure.

Was talking with a supervisor at a local Pusat Mel here. Does not apply to courier or express mail though.

Taiwan has DHL, FEDEX, etc. I think they have EMS too... which is supposed to be a tad cheaper than couriers, but not sure.

cheapest would be via normal mail, though it won't be trackable etc. Next up would be Registered post, and if it's really light, you'll probably end up paying the RM2.20 only (that's for the tracking service + first 50g if I remember correctly). It would require a recipient signature. If it's as thin as paper, you can probably pull off using Pos Ekspres, but there's a chance they will bounce it back to you as it's technically for documents only. It would be trackable, but not safe as doesn't require a signature. After that, Pos Laju would be the most expensive option, with min. cost from RM4+ onwards, depending on where you and your recipient is located. This would be the fastest and safest option as it requires a signature, is trackable and is expedited mail.

I am not 100% sure on this, but I believe there won't be a difference, or not much of a price difference at least. You can try calling the post office to confirm. I recall sending a large parcel via e-parcel over before too and choosing air though sea was cheaper coz it just wasn't that big a difference + not worth the wait (air takes one week at most usually, sea I was told would take MINIMUM 1 month wth)

Check your warranty's TnC. Pos Laju has a insurance service, so you can insure your parcel, but not too sure how to get that done as all the postal workers I've asked (at normal post offices, not the Pos Laju center) have no clue how to go about it.

Is there anyways that make the parcel stop at the post office then I manually collect it. Coz, right now I live in school hostel, when a package arrive to school they will check them first. I dont want them to check it.

If you've waited too long for an answer, can always be proactive and ask the service/product provider one ma smile.gif

Similar question to coklatua. How will I know when my International mail arrives in the local branch of post office? Since I won't be at home, there is no need for the courier to deliver to an empty apartment.

Contact the post office that handles your mail. They might be able to arrange something for you if they are very nice. If your parcel is not trackable/very distinctive, I would highly doubt they will be able to help though.

What sort of mail is it? If it is trackable locally, then you might be able to arrange something straight with your local post office, though remember you would still probably need to go collect your parcel yourself.

I doubt so, as they will probably auto-bounce the parcel as No Such Person At Address unless you've made prior arrangement with the post office or have opened a mail box account with them.

Cannot use Pos Ekspres, as that is meant for documents only plus it'll be impossible for you to fit a fan into their envelopes (unless it's really tiny, but then it would still be too heavy)

For Pos Laju/e-parcel, just wrap or box up your fan, get the correct form (remember to check whether it's for local or international destinations), fill up the form and (take a number to) go to the counter. They will weigh your parcel and process it after you've paid.
