No charges at Commonwealth Bank. You may have to declare your value when you purchase the bank draft in Malaysia cos government wants to control the outflow you know.
Surprise, surprise, I have not seen those high-tech cheque deposit machines in Aussie banks like we do here. Even the ATM card uses magnetic strips.

I find the cheque deposit machine in Malaysua quite convenient for customers with the touch screen and stuff (the one I have seen is the alliance bank).

Over in Australia you can practically do all payments via the internet thats why not necessary to have those extra machines and stuff.

Don't bring any food, animal, plants. Australia customs discourage it. It is not worth all the trouble.

if you really are in need of Maggi (the asian version not the crappy ones made in Fiji), head over to Yuen's in either Chinatown or Sunnybank

dont bother bringing any food that you need to declare. Everytime you reach the international airport, when you are about to go out the red customs line is always damn long.

to all newbies going to australia, remmeber the customs are increasingly strict with food stuff so its best to limit the amount you bring you do not want everything to be dumped into the bin. Alternatively pray hard you get a lazy or nice custom officer. Write down all your food stuff in a paper and if you are really lucky you will not be checked at all. Happened to me when I arrived in sydney early this month. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

i was going through the list of what ought to be declared, and i saw a section saying that used sportswear i.e shoes that you bring have to be declared as well to check for possibility of trapping contaminated soil on your shoe, this is the first time i came across such rule, just wondering does anyone here really do declare their shoes?
