QUOTE(nerd nation @ Aug 10 2007, 08:00 AM) Dr Wen Soong? ahh everyone in the school of EE knows Wen Soong is a very nice lecturer. He didn't teach me though but I approaced him before regarding work experience. He is a really really nice guy. He had just returned after a year long study leave and everyone is happy to see him back in the department again. Studios are usually in the city center. They are not very popular among students because of the layout. I am not quite sure how many of these are there in the city. You can check out www.realestate.com.auDid you mean how long it takes for the visa to be granted? As far as I could remember, it took about 1 to 2 months or so. Wow... he's so nice ah... By the way, do you know where he went for his sabatical (study) leave? Would you please help me to find it out? Thanks.

Oh, and on the sidelines, international students don't get concession fares in Melbourne. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « But they do in Brisbane and Adelaide

QUOTE(jae @ Aug 8 2007, 08:49 PM) Okay, put it simply, if your parents can afford to spend approx RM100k a year to send you here, how would they not be financially capable? I understand how you feel, everyone here has went through that during their first few months here, but trust us, after a while you'd know you cant do anything to change that, and especially here in sydney where everything is expensive, all i can say is spend wisely and you should be fine within your budget. And regarding looking for a job, it'd be a great advantage if you have previous working experience, and i reckon there would be more job opportunities in the city. However, given the limited working hours under your visa, don't expect the pay to cover a big percentage of your expenses, in most cases i would say it'd be good enough to be able to cover your rental from your pay. every family has its own problem, its a long story to say. but i start wondering whether coming here is a wise decision... lol anyway, wat course r u doing? wat year?

Somebody kill him........anyone who doesn't know where Gold Coast is deserves to die......... AirAsia X has got landing rights to the Coolangatta Airport and Avalon in Melb. Coolangatta Airport is probably the most interesting airport in OZ; one half is on NSW, the other side is in QLD. Seriously. Getting there and back will be a problem through, as the train only goes down to Robina from Brisbane. From Robina you still need to take a bus to the airport: no idea about connectivity. Coolangatta Airport is about 90KM from Brisbane............go figure. Added on August 11, 2007, 2:15 pmAnd i live for kolo mee. This post has been edited by haya: Aug 11 2007, 02:15 PM
