QUOTE(QuackSilver @ Aug 15 2007, 09:42 PM) how's this year's one compared to last year's one (if you went to last year's one that is)? This is my first year in Brisbane. Cant say. Loved it through. QUOTE(QuackSilver @ Aug 15 2007, 09:42 PM) well its another HUEG funfair, with farm animals (and their smelly dung yucks) thrown into the mix as well lol. be prepared to fork out money though. you'd be spending like mad there. if i were to go again this year i'd go on this saturday when everyone wants to clear stock, especially the fresh food. saw my friend buying 2 bucks of oranges, huge plastic bag full of it last year The problem going on Saturday is most of the things would have packed up by then. And animals are natural. That's where your food came from. If they smell, i suppose thats a good thing.

I'm talking about part time jobs though I'm not sure what you're getting at, but if you are comparing between wages in Australia and those in Malaysia, here's the reason: Higher standards of living. You pay $8 for a bowl of noodles here, but RM3 at home. Petrol, consumer goods and generally everything costs more than they do in Malaysia. QUOTE(micromouse @ Aug 19 2007, 08:19 PM) Chinese restaurant owners are notorious for that Not only restaurants, basically if the employer is Asian regardless of whether its a restaurant, cafe, ktv etc, i reckon theres a high possibility that you will get way less than the minimum wage.

What do you want to know about USyd? It's a good (and old) uni and it's within Sydney CBD, close to Newtown, Redfern and Broadway. I believe there are a few here from USyd, but they don't seem to visit often. Anyway, here's the university webpage if you haven't already visited it. http://www.usyd.edu.au/

QUOTE(feynman @ Aug 20 2007, 01:25 AM) I have never worked with an Asian employer, but from what i heard, they usually pay you in cash, meaning the tax office(ATO) is not involved nor aware of your employment, so its probably a lot harder to enforce the minimum wage rule. I reckon this is considered as illegal employment under the law, not sure about this though.
