Here's some answer regarding on activation I believe:

QUOTE
Windows 10 uses a different activation mechanism. During the initial upgrade via Windows Update it scans your hardware and submits your hardware profile to a Microsoft Product Activation server. During Reinstallation it rescans your hardware and submits the profile to the activation server. If it finds a match then your product is reactivated. You won't get a key, keys are effectively being phased out as a thing of the past.

More info can refer here:

Activation queries and answer!

Bro stasio maybe can make it on front page.

What if I download W10 ISO from Microsoft and run setup.exe and select upgrade option?
Will this be considered as "upgrade first"?

One last question:

Do we actually need to press "reserve for Windows 10" before upgrade or can just straight upgrade using the disc eh?
Cause I did not RESERVE Windows 10 until today since release.
*
no you don't need to. you can just do offline upgrade with the iso right away.

you see, when w10 reservation came out, all we learned by then was that we could reserve a copy. an announcement at later time told us that there would be an iso file to facilitate us to do offline upgrade (which is much better, because we can download it one time, and use it for different machines). the thing was, no one knew when.

both do the same thing, so you can either wait for your system to tell you what to do, or just go ahead and grab the iso then do the upgrade.

get the iso, make a bootable usb and do offline upgrade. you will need it to do fresh install anyway.

hi guys. i'm having problem getting the Windows 10 upgrade icon for my PC.

i'm currently running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit (OEM the one tied to only one PC per copy) for quite some time and trying to get the Windows 10 icon but seems that it never appear till today although i've updated everything and there's nothing more to update in windows update.

tried all the fix from the internet (the win10fix_full.bat file, using MediaCreationToolx64 for Windows 10) but still failed to get the update till today.

how can i update mine if this happens?
*
as long as it's activated, don't bother waiting and make use of the iso method.

I think we should wait microsoft tell us what to do via the task menu one.

Well, that answers all the question regarding upgrade reserve.
Everyone, if you're having issues regarding upgrade reservation, just download ISO from MS and do the upgrade.
