Why is it surprising? How many have actually come through since Carra, Owen, Gerrard? Even the "promising" foreign youngsters we signed over the years aren't making it whereas Chelsea and City currently have quite a few very highly rated gems in their ranks.

20 mins in, game is pleasing to watch. Apart from Marko, everyone has stepped up their game and bossed the opponent. Fluid passing with great movement. Hope to see Marko improving his game with the squad as the match progresses

Lovren being the culprit for not tracking his man. Swans drew 1st blood. Pls sub out Marko. Being the culprit in the team's attacking momentum, time and time again.

Not sure if we are watching the same game here. Apart from a short spell later in the first half we've played with no tempo and no creativity all game. Passing is slow and predictable. Movement is poor. Less said about our crossing the better. Offense is dire if you ask me. Markovic looks even worse than Downing.
