If you sell before ex date then no dividend. |

QUOTE(gark @ Jan 22 2015, 01:00 PM) Ex date is 04/02/2015 Thanks for the answer.. So let say if i buy 1000 lots of this share before the ex-date?Buy before ex date and HOLD until ex-date you will get the dividend. If you sell before ex date then no dividend. So how much dividend can i get? Still very confuse about the dividend calculation.. |

QUOTE(zer016 @ Jan 22 2015, 02:25 PM) Thanks for the answer.. So let say if i buy 1000 lots of this share before the ex-date? I am assuming it is a REIT.. usually with dividend structure like that.So how much dividend can i get? Still very confuse about the dividend calculation.. 1000 lots x 100 = 100,000 shares. Dividend received = 100,000 shares x 0.0474 x 90% (10% tax) = RM 4,266 Dividend received = 100,000 shares x 0.0099 (no tax) = RM 990 Total dividend = RM 4,266 + RM 990 = RM 5,253 But beware ON ex-date, the shares price WILL be reduced accordingly by 6 sen (5.73 sen round up) per share due to dividend adjustment. So if you think you can profit by buying before ex date and selling on or after ex date, you will be surprised that it is a ZERO sum game. This post has been edited by gark: Jan 22 2015, 03:16 PM |

Saw this in The Star ...
SYDNEY: Australia’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rate to a new record low and said the local currency remains overvalued, joining a dozen global counterparts in easing policy this year as commodity prices tumble. The overnight cash rate target was lowered by 25 basis points to 2.25%, governor Glenn Stevens said in a statement. Growth would be weaker for longer and the jobless rate peak higher than earlier expected, he said. AA What is meant by "overvalued"? In high demand and thus higher price? If it is high demand/higher price, then it is not true with the drop in A$ vs US$ now. BB My lay person's understanding is they should be raising the interest rate to reduce the A$ decline. But they are doing the reverse. Salah understanding? Some exchange 101 tips please. Thanks. |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Feb 4 2015, 09:47 AM) Saw this in The Star ... Overvalue means currency is trading at a higher value than it should.. hence limiting export potential. The government wants the currency to trend lower to encourage export. More export means better economic growth and higher jobs uptake. However a weaker currency means higher inflation too.SYDNEY: Australia’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rate to a new record low and said the local currency remains overvalued, joining a dozen global counterparts in easing policy this year as commodity prices tumble. The overnight cash rate target was lowered by 25 basis points to 2.25%, governor Glenn Stevens said in a statement. But they are doing the reverse. Salah understanding? Some exchange 101 tips please. Thanks. Reducing interest rates makes the fixed deposit not attractive, hence people will tend to sell the currency and buy other currency for better gains. When more people are selling compared to buying a currency will slowly drop. Currency is like other goods priced towards supply/demand. |

QUOTE(matbond. @ Feb 7 2015, 07:39 PM) i want to ask. how to take profit? If U think RM2 is the highest it will go, then sell all 1000 units.let say i buy 1000 units of RM1 share. next month the price become RM2. so supposedly i profit RM1000 right? how do i take the profit? sell 500 shares ?? (500shares x RM2 = RM1000) or sell all the 1000 shares? (1000shares x RM2 = RM2000) (assume no broker fees.) which one is the better way to take profit? sell 500 shares and just let the remaining sit there or sell all the 1000 shares and then reenter again? which one usually people do? sorry im still new and very weak at managing my finance. If U think it can still go higher but U want to play safe, u sell 500 units to get all your capital back. If U think it can go higher and U can take the risk that it might drop drastically to below RM1, then U don't sell. There are endless possibilities how U want to play this...sell 100 units only, sell 200 units only, sell 100 now and sell 100 when if goes up to RM2.10, sell 100 unit and sell another 100 when it dropped below RM2,etc ,etc, etc |
