i want to ask. how to take profit?

let say i buy 1000 units of RM1 share.

next month the price become RM2.

so supposedly i profit RM1000 right? how do i take the profit?

sell 500 shares ?? (500shares x RM2 = RM1000)

or sell all the 1000 shares? (1000shares x RM2 = RM2000)

(assume no broker fees.)

which one is the better way to take profit? sell 500 shares and just let the remaining sit there or sell all the 1000 shares and then reenter again? which one usually people do?

sorry im still new and very weak at managing my finance.

If U think RM2 is the highest it will go, then sell all 1000 units.
If U think it can still go higher but U want to play safe, u sell 500 units to get all your capital back.
If U think it can go higher and U can take the risk that it might drop drastically to below RM1, then U don't sell.
There are endless possibilities how U want to play this...sell 100 units only, sell 200 units only, sell 100 now and sell 100 when if goes up to RM2.10, sell 100 unit and sell another 100 when it dropped below RM2,etc ,etc, etc

1 questions to all sifu .. i heard investing in stocks can end up losing more money than you invest ... can someone explain why?

Example I invest in this stock for RM 1000 ... there will be a situation where i will lose all 1000 and even owe them more money ? How does that work ??
*

If U borrow RM1000 from Ah long to invest and the company goes bankrupt and then delisted, U'll then owed the ah long more than RM1000 if U put off paying the ah long for a few mths.

When we revise our order say buy 200,000 units instead of 100,000 units, do we still retain our original Q order.

Wud recommend key in fresh order for another 100k units

It's just an example to find out how bursa will treat a revised order; actually I did a revise order to buy from 500,000 units to 380,000 units, so I want to know how it really working re Q order.
Anyway, I realized now my mistake of quoting a silly revised order of buying from 100,000 to 200,000 units. Sorry about this.

I bid 1 cent for KGROUP-OR cos there are sellers for 1/2 cent. But done at 1 cent. I thought should be done at 1/2 cent - seller price ?

Yesterday, same thing happened; got buyers for 1 cent and sellers for 1/2 cent, but all done at 1/2 cent. How come for my case, it's done at 1 cent and not 1/2 cent ?

Why are there tiny trades done for say 1 lot (100 shares) where the share price is just 8.5 cents. Cost of share is just RM8.50 but the brokerage+clearing+stamping is much higher ?

u think got people stupid jus go buy 1 lot meh..
someone keep accumulative wan maa...
*

Isn't it stupid to buy 1 lot at 9.30am, buy another lot at 10am, another lot at 10.30am, etc till accumulate 100 lots, and pay 100X more in fees ? Why waste time and money buying lot by lot when can buy 100 lots at one go ?

sorry beginner here..

i think i need some clarification. why is it cost of buying much higher?

brokerage+clearing+stamping :: (0.007 x 8.5 ) + (0.0003 x 8.5) + 1 = RM 1.062

1.062/ 100 shares = 1.06 cents per share

8.5 cents (share) >> 1.06 cents (buy cost)

>> cost per share is 1.06 cents, why higher ? in what sense you mean higher cost? the maths or value?
*

Need more info to help U; how many units U buy at 8.5 cents per unit ?
