I think that AMD APU will only beat with only i5-4xxx or i5-5xxx. Any comment?

Well you need to factor other things such as integrated GPU... hmm.gif

Any idea when roughly? I hope they are priced reasonably. Nvidia is currently being aggressive with its pricing.

This very much depends on brand > distributor > vendor.

AMD has no control over this.

Good enough, I use hardware reader to get wall draw.

After that estimate actual draw using the wall draw vs efficiency.

AMD’s cut down Fiji GPU has proved to be great competition for Nvidia’s GTX 980 and even knocks on the door of the more expensive GTX 980 Ti in some tests. Even with fewer texture units and shader cores the Radeon R9 Fury performs very close to as good as the full blown Fury X does. Sapphire has done an excellent job creating a robust cooling solution to keep this power hungry beast cool, while maintaining reasonably quite fan noise. The coil whine issue appears to be isolated to our sample, so judgement on that topic has been reserved until such time as we may test another copy.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3618815/+680

... so that this thread is more about processor.

Any R9 280x users here?

Been having some weird issues this past few days and i hope it isn't the display card but can't help feel that it is.

Monitor randomly goes black but I can still hear the background noise and my fans are all still running but no display.

Only happens when I'm playing league of legends but that is the only game i make time for so i guess whenever anything extensive is happening unsure.gif?

So this happened a few days back but a quick reboot solved it and again the following day. But today the problem has already persisted thrice in a space of an hr when i tried playing league and i noticed whenever display goes black, instantly all my fans are running on full load. And a quick reboot doesn't solve it. Gotta plug out the power plug and wait a full minute or so before I'm able to turn on my rig.

I've read on other forums that amd cards tend to have a problem like this. So does anyone actually know how do i solve it or is a RMA necessary?

hmm.gif so you did google on problem, but you did not find solution ?

1) check power managemet system see if there any power setting say turn off lcd certain period.

2) What your current driver while black screen happen ? have you download install a lates AMD driver? please use Display Driver Uninstaller follow recommended setting do it in safe mode.

3)check Display connection used different see if there different..

4) check Temp gpu core/vram have you done any OC ? maybe is on high clock and play lol too long on high gpu core.. ? (but pls do option 2 first)

This thread is more for news and enquiry towards AMD.

Another thread is based on Radeon.

I dont see the reason didn't allow both threads to co-exist.

Hello,

The other thread is primarily RADEON and more of a user discussion, we welcome such discussions on this thread too.

However this thread is about AMD in general

1. CPU
2. APU
3. GPU
4. Mobile CPU
5. Mobile APU
6. Mobile GPU

Not forgetting our other products like SSD and whatever else AMD under the sun.

AMD just taped out their first FinFet chips recently and that is most likely for their Zen lineup. There's no information on which process node though, 16nm/14nm.

QUOTE
“We have actually just taped-out our first couple of FinFET designs,” said Lisa Su, chief executive officer of Advanced Micro Devices, during the company’s earnings conference call with investors and financial analysts.
Ms. Su did not elaborate which of the future designs the company had taped out and when exactly this happened. Nonetheless, two tape-outs mean that the company has managed to successfully design its first products with FinFET transistors. Design of an advanced microprocessor that will be made using a FinFET process technology costs north from $150 million without the cost of photomasks needed for production. Therefore, the tape-out means that the vast majority of investments in these two chips have been made.
