Noted thanks. I guess ryzen is a bit green right at this moment.

Alot of people are talking about lottery chips. They claim the overlooking capability depends on the waffle quality. Those whom striked gold managed to overclock above 4 ghz. Is this true?

Sounds like ryzens ceiling speed is 4ghz

I think it is apply to all including Intel chips. AFAIK Ryzen 1700X & 1800X has more high chances to go over 4Ghz with better voltage whereby 1700 required significant high voltage to pass 4Ghz, also important to remind that the frequency of Ram also contribute a lot to increase the overall performance of the system.

It's after all 8 cores chip on new manufacturing process, it require good cooling to push just little few hundred MHz. On my old i5 2500K, from 3.3GHz to 4.5GHz require me just changing multiplier to 45, no tweaks at all. Many AMD fanboys are claimed to upgrade to Zen+ once available, in tradition on AMD processor must OC gao gao laugh.gif

Now that you mentioned, i believe this holds true. Its kinda difficult to push all cores to 4 ghz looking at current I7-6900k, E5-2667 v2 & E5-2687w v2. heat is always a concern.

AMD's legendary OC line were the Thunderbird, Athlon XP and Seprom lines. The pencil trick was awesome during its days.

AGESA 1.0.0.6 is really showing the promising improvement.
The memory compatibility is also improved a lot in this version.

Yup... It's not working well for me because my RAM
is Micron Dual Ranks.

I can get 2933MHz with 16-15-15-36-1T @ 1.35v stable
with 9945 but not with 9943.

P.S. I meant promising 'Improvement'. Not 'Performance'.

As far as i know it only happened on Asus crosshair hero motherboard, i believe your model doesn't affected. At this moment nobody have exact answer why this happened, some peoples have it some not, still hoping next bios update can solve this weird behavior.

Could be DRAM cold boot voltage issue. I had similar issue on old MSI P35 mobo, will boot twice if cold boot, but no issue if restart.
If BIOS have such option, set DRAM boot voltage manually but slightly higher than RAM voltage.

Yea, i read that suggestion in other forum as well, some suggested put the DRAM boot voltage to 1.4v, i have yet to try that.

Sadly my mobo dont have that option, else I might have better chances at running my RAM at higher speed.

Hmm my and 7850 see dying randomly unable to boot up.

Thinking of budget GC rx460 / rx550 / rx560

Wondering which is better choice.
Since My monitor is 1080 and casual gaming only.
