QUOTE(llk @ Apr 19 2017, 10:17 PM) Based on my understanding, RAM speed higher than 2400 depends on : Ryzen chip internal IMC quality (?assembled in China ones better than ones assembled in Malaysia), Motherboard quality (and is UEFI), RAM Module itself (Samsung B die, single rank and CAS 14 or lower). However it seems gain as speed increase has diminishing return ie big gain from 2133 to 2666 then modest from 2666 to 3200 and minimal from 3200 above. Also each program or games will react differently with increased RAM speed. Some no benefit at all. It seems sweet spot is 2999 However i still think we should get the RAM speed that we paid for |

Ryzen of made in china? made in malaysia? still havent proof tat which one is better. Before, got a review site stated that the cpu in hand, china is better a bit than malaysia, but after he take two more silicon for each made in? there is better malaysia made in as well. To get higher speed ram work, just get the best ram u can afford which in QVL list of mobo u want or u have. |

Exactly what i think of now, i have 4sticks of corsair dominator 3200mhz ddr4 which using for my x99 system, but due to the mobo having problem and sent for warranty, i may sell off my 5930k and the x99 mobo once it back from rma. Therefore it is kinda waste if i buying another set of ddr4 just want to achieve 3000 and above speed and look at the crazy ram price now might not worth. Currently my Corsair ram able to run at 2666mhz (for 2 sticks) i should be satisfied right? However it seems gain as speed increase has diminishing return ie big gain from 2133 to 2666 then modest from 2666 to 3200 and minimal from 3200 above. BTW QVL list is not a guaranteed list of RAMS that will work at stated sanctioned OC speed. Its only list that internal mobo manufacturers has tested "extensively" (whatever that really means). Look an Newegg review, many who bought couldnt manage to get to the OC speeds. But chances they will work / allow computer to boot is much higher in my opinion. I would recommend buy the lowest CAS 14 -15 only to have higher likelyhood to be able to go to OC speeds Cheers! |

QVL is not guarantee, but almost follow the QVL get u biggest chance to have your ram run the speed it should be. Ram compatibility problem just only can give time for mobo vendor to fix out. TridentZ and Dominator are two series that constantly mentioned by Ryzen user in reddit. We have to wait AMD and mobo manufacturers to continue improving higher RAM speed QUOTE(llk @ Apr 21 2017, 03:08 PM) Should be no issue, but likely at even lower speed. |
