isn't that by the end of 2017 Syed Mokhtar's PSSB will launch an FTA terrestrial broadcast with more than 20 HD channels, totally free of charge

hate to say that but Astro's OTT (AOTG) and VOD service has been improving lately, they knew they won't be in the game for long if they just stick all of their resources on traditional satellite DTH, now the infra is there, leaving only quality contents which is lacking somewhat

oh ya, the recent venture into home shopping / eCommerce reflects their intention to diversify their portfolio, whether or not it will become successful is dubious as of now. They also have presence in online publication as in Stadium Astro which is quite a cash cow in their online ads revenue

Any idea what % of people are still on the old boxes? I thought astro were replacing them all quite some time ago.

I have a couple of questions...

I used a 2010 PVR decoder and its working fine...

1) my original remote byond remote (white) already passed it's prime and I intend to buy a new one. I notice Astro has a new remote much more suitable for the new interface (black blue one). now where can I buy the original other than midvalley outlet.

2) Do I need to change to new decoder ? would it improve my astro experience somehow? Can it be done for free?

There is also people who has 4:3 TVs that will not be able to display widescreen videos properly.

This unofficial website says: 88% of Astro customers is currently using the Astro B.yond decoder (including HD, PVR, etc.). Astro is currently migrating its platform into Astro B.yond. Soon, all Astro customers must change their decoder to a new B.yond decoder.

If your package is Rm100 and up, it's free (I already changed mine). Might as well double check with Astro CS if your's eligible for it.
