i know that, my point was that it's not available locally. a Malaysian has no choice to watch nickelodeon/cartoon network/cinemax/fox in widescreen.

Question is, will Astro be generous enough to provide free HD channel on NJOI? (RTM, Media Prima etc) future HD channels might be free on NJOI, but does Astro have the ball to provide some in-house HD channel free?

Celestial Classic Movies channel (with subtitles) will be coming to Astro soon.
Astro previously said that there will be 6 HD and 2 SD channels coming to Astro.

So far we only know:

HD Channels
1. Astro AEC HD (CH306) - Launching on 16/11
2. Astro Shuang Xing HD (CH307) - Launching on 16/11

SD Channels
1. Celestial Classic Movies (CH321) - Launching on 16/11

In the above page (this FAQ page is different from the one you saw on Latest Info's FAQ), Astro compared their prices with other pay TV services providers in Southeast Asia and answered some of the critical questions (monopoly and price revision).

5 years, RM5 rise. Maybe on 2019 they rise again the HD fee by another RM5 after launching the rest of SD & HD channels. 90% sure.

Astro's Satellite Broadcast Exclusive Right Until February 2017 - Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The government is maintaining the exclusive right for satellite broadcast for MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd up to Feb 28, 2017, said the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

It said in a written reply circulated in the Dewan Rakyat that the right was maintained for the Astro operator based on the 'no worse off' principle during the migration from the Broadcast Licence to the Content Applications Service Provider Individual Licence.

"This exclusive right was granted by the Government of Malaysia to MBNS in 1997 before the migration of MBNS from the Broadcast Licence under the Broadcasting Act 1988 to the new regime under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"MBNS can continue with the pay-TV broadcasting service via satellite to the general public after 2017, but not exclusively," the ministry said in reply to a question from Datuk Hasan Arifin (BN-Rompin) who had wanted to know whether the government would continue with the exclusive rights for Astro which would expire next year.

In addition, the ministry said other companies could begin to apply to purchase pay-TV broadcasting services via satellite after Feb 28, 2017.
