QUOTE(Ulysses @ Sep 25 2014, 06:47 PM) guys, currently im on bundle pack comprising of family, sport & learning at 88.. thinking of add HD service at rm109.. but some people said its much better take superpack at rm141 bcause it added more channel, HD, .. is it worth guys? need opiniion.. i need HD coz this 1080p lcd, looks so blurry See what extra channels you will get on the website and decide if they are worth the extra 32rm/month. IMO the answer is probably yes. Plus you get the PVR with the superpack too right? |

QUOTE(krash810 @ Oct 13 2014, 04:34 PM) Not sure if this is the place to ask this but I'm currently using Maxis 10mbps fibre but am considering switching to 20mbps with the Astro IPTV since it'll be cheaper for me monthly. 1. I don't see why an upgrade to 20mb would be any less stable compared to your current 10mb.I live with my family so all in all, there are 4 of us with my parents using minimal internet (only to browse and read news). Then the majority of the bandwidth is used by my brother and me for downloading and gaming (mainly me for gaming). So what I wanna know is: 1. Has anyone used this before? Is it stable? Especially for those who game. 2. Say my dad is watching a live football match in HD and I'm gaming at the same time. Would either of us suffer a spike in lag at that moment? To those who would be commenting, thank you in advance! It is much appreciated. 2. Nope, the TV and internet do not share the same bandwidth so you are good to go. |

QUOTE(dxjb @ Oct 15 2014, 08:45 PM) Are u sure about this? I am superpack user and when I browse the VOD selection, there is some content with the $ sign and a 'Buy' option. I never dare press 'Buy'. I was interested in some movies and WWE content. The HBO series and movies sections is definitely included for me, but a lot of the other content requires $$$. Not sure if this is because I have a superpack or because I am on IPTV though.Anyway most of the stuff on VOD is rubbish, the HBO stuff is ok but they never add new content - it's all the same as when I first tried VOD many months ago... |

Are there any plans for astro to convert it's SD channels to 16:9, at least the ones that are already letter-boxed? It can't be difficult...

QUOTE(asellus @ Nov 22 2014, 07:43 PM) And imagine the 'Why is that my Astro isn't fullscreen', 'why my astro has black bars' et. al. complaints Astro will receive. 4:3 for SD while widescreen for HD is a good compromise for everyone. Do they get those calls at the moment for Astro Supersport SD channels which currently are 16:9 letterboxed? |

QUOTE(asellus @ Nov 23 2014, 08:39 AM) For that particular channel, not exactly very many though. I imagine that would be not the case though if they do so with channels that does not have HD equivalents like TV3. Hmm, yeah I agree, there will always be a section of customers who are resistant to change. I guess what they could do for 4:3 TV users is upgrade the 4:3 channels to 16:9, but then set these channels to be cropped by the new decoders if connected to a 4:3 TV set (or give the option to letterbox alternatively). This would be similar to LB expand which some widescreen users use now to crop off the top and bottom of a 4:3 channel. From my own sources, if being given the choice to choose, majority of the Astro subscribers did not want to switch their decoder from the grey-type decoders like Philips/Nokia to HD ones from Pace or Samsung. Actually, this would end up being no different for 4:3 users on some channels. E.g. on BBC world news, the original feed is 16:9 which is then cropped to 4:3 by Astro. So they might as well deliver the widescreen feed to all, and allow users to crop it themselves if they choose so in their settings. Of course some of the channels don't have a widescreen feed, so widescreen users will be stuck with a 4:3 feed for these anyway, but it would be good to give people the option of both. What do you think? |
