got a feeling that the existing QuanJia HD will be Taiwanese content oriented as soon as AEC HD rolls out
anyway, AEC is nothing but a platform for the BenDiQuan - local Astro inhouse Chinese (mandarin speaking) artists with various variety shows, but however inhouse made cantonese speaking contents including beauty pageant, Battleground, ASQ, still airs in WLT instead. With the introduction of cantonese HKTV drama in SHX soon, the inhouse Chinese channels branding will be more confusing and overlapping ever. |

do you guys realize that recently Astro been practicing on self-censorship more frequently on TVB dramas air in WLT?
they have blurred out the gore scenes, the "nudity" poster, rude words (not even profanity) looks like they are even more asspicky than RTM/Mediaprima combined |

QUOTE(leetan33 @ Nov 16 2014, 12:27 AM) Even though both channels are in HD, Astro AEC's and AEC Shuang Xing's logos on top-right corner don't feature the word "HD". I know why, it is because they want to keep the cost as low as possible, by using the same output feed to push to both HD and non-HD channels (means same piece of video playout server), if you tune to Ch301 and Ch324 you will notice the letterbox has been put in place. Same trick has been in place for SuperSport for quite some time seriously, I don't think these 2 "new" HD channels line up is anything worth to be applauded of, this is something we should already have long time ago. QUOTE(azrin_kiko @ Nov 16 2014, 12:29 AM) so you hope astro further reduce their cost? |

QUOTE(leetan33 @ Nov 12 2014, 11:43 AM) + excessive censorship. which makes me wonder..When I was watching AOD yesterday, I noticed that Astro censored the acupuncture poster on the wall. They blurred the buttock. ![]() is AOD/WLT's channel manager an active member of MCA? perangai mcm anjing jilat p* tuan if they tried to do that on the upcoming HKTV series which contains a lot more controversial contents than TVB .. I would rather download from torrent and downpack astro |

QUOTE(leetan33 @ Nov 16 2014, 01:17 PM) Perhaps we're conforming to Brunei's censorship standard because AOD is broadcasted there too. Somebody asked this on Astro's Facebook few days ago if I'm not mistaken. does Brunei customers pay buck for a buck fees? eg. B$155 vs RM155..otherwise.. I can only say fucuk to them.. who gives a shiet to that dark age country though we may heading towards that direction in the near future as well ... PS/ even we don't see this kind of ridiculous lvl of censorship on local FTA channels This post has been edited by PhakFuhZai: Nov 16 2014, 01:22 PM |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Nov 19 2014, 12:07 AM) 5 years, RM5 rise. Maybe on 2019 they rise again the HD fee by another RM5 after launching the rest of SD & HD channels. 90% sure. isn't that by the end of 2017 Syed Mokhtar's PSSB will launch an FTA terrestrial broadcast with more than 20 HD channels, totally free of chargeif the timeline is real, astro should have started to worry yesterday |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Nov 19 2014, 10:27 AM) quite unlikely, Bijan is not that close to AK anywaygone were the days where TVs used to dominate our time at home hate to say that but Astro's OTT (AOTG) and VOD service has been improving lately, they knew they won't be in the game for long if they just stick all of their resources on traditional satellite DTH, now the infra is there, leaving only quality contents which is lacking somewhat oh ya, the recent venture into home shopping / eCommerce reflects their intention to diversify their portfolio, whether or not it will become successful is dubious as of now. They also have presence in online publication as in Stadium Astro which is quite a cash cow in their online ads revenue This post has been edited by PhakFuhZai: Nov 19 2014, 10:56 AM |

QUOTE(leetan33 @ Nov 21 2014, 11:46 PM) http://astrobyondinfo.weebly.com/ by then they should not charge additional fees for those who activated HD featuresThis unofficial website says: 88% of Astro customers is currently using the Astro B.yond decoder (including HD, PVR, etc.). Astro is currently migrating its platform into Astro B.yond. Soon, all Astro customers must change their decoder to a new B.yond decoder. |

QUOTE(leetan33 @ Jan 29 2015, 07:15 PM) It should be: Astro Xi Yue HD aims to provide Astro customers a repeat of HD content from other paid channels and to encourage NJOI customers to migrate to paid Astro. cukur Malaysians finally got "FTA" HD channels QUOTE(Qash-M @ Jan 30 2015, 03:10 PM) Ten years on, little has changed since then. Media Prima said going to HD, but no timeline is given. hmm Media Prima is busy offering VSS to their employees, from One FM DJs until NTV7/8TV production crews including several newscasters don't think their financial situation is tiptop now This post has been edited by PhakFuhZai: Feb 3 2015, 08:29 PM |

btw, current NJOI lineup not inclusive of AEC HD? why can receive SD but not the HD?
AEC already is a big recycle bin full of recycled contents from channels such as Shuang Xing and Hua Hee Dai |

after comparing the recent news program between Media Prima ntv7/8tv with AEC
you'd feel astro news is more "Watchable", eg. fair coverage was given towards Bersih rally, unlike erm... TV3 and Bernama Media prima is nothing but UMNO's running dog, now this has extended to NTV7 and 8TV nevertheless, Astro did have good records at helping out Chinese schools through charity roadshows and fund raisings all these while, they should be given credit for that, especially after the 916 red shirt rally |
