there are many non muslim bumiputra here in sarawak and sabah.

you are considered bumi if either one of the parents is a bumiputra

IC doesn't indicate race, only birth cert does.
If both parents are from different race, the kids can choose to follow either father or mother. Not necessary must follow father.

This applies on Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, not in Sarawak.

Father is a Chinese, converted to Muslim. Mother is a Muslim. The son is a Chinese Muslim but race is still Chinese and no Bumiputera status.

it depends on how you pursue the case with jabatan pendaftaran negara and how u registered your child upon birth
