Guys I’m on a ADSL2+ modulation with a port that’s capable of doing 16Mbps down, but TM says that my line only can support 2Mbps max. I wanted to upgrade to 4Mbps for my parents and they said 2Mbps is all they can do

Is it true?

Yes, it’s true. That value on your modem don’t mean anything, if you include other factors such as distance from the cabinet, interference, and so on. If you set any higher, your line is going to be unstable, and you would want reliability over speed anytime.

Yeah, nowadays if suspended, pppoe will still authenticate ok but you will be wall gardened. If you're using TM's DNS, it should redirect you an informative web page.

Anyone got upgraded to 8mbps without notice?

got "free upgrade" from sillymix...from 2mb to 5mb ??..i check the modem ...used to be 2048...now is 5118...but the download speed max out at 275kb...before upgrade it was 225kb max...i run speed test using online tools...it shows only 2.3mb download speed..another thing is ...packet loss was added for free..which is rare before the "free upgrade"....wierd..

Edit: So I ask multiple staff about discount shown on my account. One of them told me 8mbps is RM190 and the official page show RM160. I want to further argue about it and I GOT DISCONNECTED FROM LIVE CHAT!!!!!!! WTF??

Some do get upgraded without notice.

TM sometimes set higher connected speed but it will cap on their side for the max speed. This way your speed will be maximised.

hi guys, anyone have the picture of new streamyx modem package. just want to see if TMnut got new modem for streamyx or not. currently using Dlink DSL-2640B

Last week from 4mb become 8mb auto upgrade. Today receive call appointment to change everything to 10mb unifi. Bye bye streamyx, soon all will become unifi. All free upgrade.
