Dear Guys,

I want some clarification regarding Streamyx Broadband 4mbps. Few days ago i just subscribe stremyx broadband and it work fine but the problem is today i receive an email mentioning " Your Credit Limit Amount Has Been Changed from RM 420.00 to RM 840.00 [#U600267181509]‏" and my current charge is RM RM 155.65.

1. Why there is credit limit?

2. Should Streamyx BB is unlimited quota?

3. Does this mean i need to pay monthly as Pay Per Used?

Your guys opinion and clarification are most welcomed and really appreciated.

Good question. I saw that when I was browsing in Hypptv. They also increased my credit limit.

For buying things in Hypptv?
*
1. The credit limit is there so your bill doesn't suddenly skyrocket (lotsa overseas calls, your kids buy VOD channels, etc). Credit limit is calculated by multiplying the package price by 3. So for 4mb, RM140x3=RM420. When your usage reaches RM420, TM will block your line (internet, phone, hypptv) until you pay up.

2. Unlimited quota is for internet usage. If you only use internet, and don't use the phone or buy extra hypptv channels/VOD, credit limit should not be an issue. Example, if you only use internet, no hypptv channels, no phone calls, your bill should be RM140. In the email you got, it stated your current charge is RM RM 155.65. I'm guessing thats RM140+call charges of RM15.65.

3. Pay Per Used applies for calls and hypptv.

It used to be that TM only increased the credit limit when requested, but I guess now they just automatically increase it. My credit limit is also RM840 now, no idea why.

Anyone experiencing super slow torrent speeds...? Browsing is fine, direct DL can get normal 300-400kb, Speedtest shows about 4mb...Only torrents are getting horrible speeds, between 30-50kb (very healthy torrents, excellent seed pool)...Been going on for the past few days... mad.gif

3 days already dont have internet connection,
Call 100 said it was related with underwater cable problem,
but why others still have internet connection,
Can I ask rebate or anything for this problem?  ranting.gif
*
Did you make a formal complaint or just inquired about what was causing the disruption? If you lodged a complaint (they will give you a report number, normally something like 1-xxxxxx), and the service disruption exceeds 24hrs, you can claim rebate. Keep in mind, TM calculate the disruption period from the time you make the report, NOT from when the disruption actually starts... ranting.gif

Hmm, weird that you're completely cut off. Could it be TM just got too lazy, and started blaming EVERYTHING on the underwater cable issue? hmm.gif rclxub.gif

Formal complain to TM? Only make complain thru MCMC..
*
Most of the time, complain to TM 100 enough to solve most issues. If TM dragging the issue/reluctant to assist, then complain to MCMC? I've never complained to MCMC before, so maybe the sifus here can enlighten us what happens after reporting to MCMC? icon_question.gif

same case with my area...

calling them is really pointless, what more going to tm point itself.  doh.gif

as the customer service/representative really sounds no clue about what theyre dealing with.  whistling.gif
*
Used to work at tm100 call centre(billing dept though)... During the selection process, they just randomly separate us into various departments, regardless of qualifications...so when you call 100, and the customer service executive (yup, thts the official title) sounds clueless abt the issue, its because they have no IT background...
Persistence can pay off though, keep complaining,if the issue is escalated to the "second level"(actual tech expert), you might get a better response...

Spec sheet only states ipv4, so probably not...?

Another guy asked about this before. Slightly long explanation, but here you go:

So to clarify, yes, the call was definitely from TM. The notification varies, some get sms, emails, automated calls... Internet usage definitely has no quota, but your total bill per month does...My explanation above might be a bit messy, so if you have any other doubts, ask away... smile.gif

Been using TP-Link TD-W8980 for the past year (replaced the crappy Innacom one that TM provided)...So far, quite satisfied, no issues...Wifi range is good, normally 5-6 devices connected...

IMO, Tplink is worth considering...I'm sure there are newer models out though, so look em up... smile.gif

agree. I, honestly don't think the addition of hypptv is a good value. I rather have more internet speed over additional features like cable tv and such for the same price.
*
+1...Triple play my a$$...Kinda frustrating to know that Time can offer a whopping 25 times the speed we're getting for an extra 9 ringgit...And don't even get me started on the pathetic upload speed... vmad.gif

Hoping I can escape too one day...

.....Are you sure your account (not your port) doesn't get capped wrongly? It seem to me that your account is capped at 1Mbps download and 256Kbps upload.......

I saw your screenshot and the port is capped 'correctly'. Technically, the downstream port should be capped at 5096 to compensate of ADSL PPP protocol overhead.

The only thing left is your streamyx account cap limit.
*
I think you missed an important point from earlier...From what I gather, JuneResources is subscribed to 1Mbps, and NOT 4Mbps...The issue is slow youtube, he just wanted the opinion of all the sifus here whther there is anything wrong with his stats that might be causing this...I've quoted all the main points above...

yes, I want to control bandwidth. But I'm confuse between router and modem. Is it the same thing?
*
Not exactly. To simplify it, the modem is the box you connect to the phone line to get an internet connection. You connect the router to the modem to "convert" the internet connection to WIFI.

For streamyx 4mb, TM provides a modem+router combo, basically a 2-in-1 device. However, you can buy a router with more functions, like bandwith control, and hook it up to your modem+router, no problem. I replaced mine with this TP-Link modem router...

Just got an sms from TM that my area(Puchong) is experiencing service disruption, expected recovery 28/12/2016, 8.55pm. At work now, so can't confirm my connection status. Anyone else received this sms, or currently facing any disruption?
