My area here has Unifi coverage, but currently I'm holding old school streamyx account 1mbps (Jom jimat hebat 68).

Is it consider "voluntary" upgrade to unifi 10?
If the price same as this Streamyx, I will upgrade to unifi 10. At least more faster can use already..
If provide offer price less than 100 monthly, it is no harm for it.. hehe..
*
Actually those cheaper package can be upgraded to 4Mb but your monthly will add RM20.

Maybe wait until 25 Jan, if really as the slide where the speed become 10Mb then it's better. If only webe or hypptv then that time go to TM point and ask if upgrade to 4Mb need to pay how much.

Haha some fellas here are paying RM88 for 4mbps, they feel painful if they upgrade to Unifi Lite RM129.
*
Unifi lite is 10MB right?

Been using 4MB for some years while waiting for unifi coverage. Until now nothing, even Lite also don't have. Finally decide to take 8MB package, currently have promo RM140. So I'm paying additional RM11 for lesser 2MB. The discount RM20 is until 30th June, after that new registration go back to normal price of RM160.

When it's about home broadband, everyone is a beggar that have no choice..

You don't need Unifi infra (FTTH) to get Unifi Lite. You will migrate from ADSL2 (Streamyx) to VDSL2 (Unifi Lite 10/20) soon if your area is under HSBB2/SUBB. You enjoy free calls to TM numbers and HyppTV box, which Unifi Lite RM129 users don't.
*
I checked with TM and agent, both say my place don't have unifi lite. 8MB streamyx TM say also free call to TM number. If in the future when unifi is available I can change without penalty.

QUOTE(#Victor @ Jun 22 2017, 06:22 PM)
UniFi Lite is 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload. Since u already taken the discounted 8Mbps package just wait until contract ends, hopefully ur area has UniFi coverage by the time icon_idea.gif
*
As I said we home broadband user is beggar which cannot be choosy. I also prefer to get Unifi but too bad till now don't have. So I think getting less 2MB for expensive by RM11 is still better than stuck at 4MB, better than after June the price goes up back to RM160. But consider I'm still lucky can get 8MB, another guy was there and his taman nearby my taman, he want to upgrade but was told there max is what he's using which is 1MB sweat.gif

The staff told me when my place have Unifi coverage I can change it without penalty.

Hello, anyone can recommend me a router/modem combo for streamyx? I am looking for one with the option to set bandwidth limit by ip address .

I had tenda D301 before and can limit the upload and download speed based on IP but it went kaput and the RMA process is a major pain in the ass. Have to keep asking the shop for update etc2.

Any other model/ brand that can be recommended? preferably brand with less hassle when it comes to rma.

thanks!

Asus router also have same function like the xiaomi. You can install it's app to control the modem, in addition for controlling from it's IP. You can also configure to access the modem from other IP (when you not connected to the wifi), access by website or by the app. You can also reboot the modem from app or website.

Also can set upload/download limit by each device. Can monitor the internet speed. Can setup ftp and samba. Parental controls, wifi block by mac. It also have USB port to connect hard drive which you can use it's download manager for direct download and torrent. Which then can be stream to other device, or even over the internet.

Probably me need to wait next 10 years to get UniFi service.
Life too short huh.. dry.gif
Hope i will not dead like pirate skull memes. sad.gif

The main reason to get Unifi or Maxis Fibre is ping low using wired connection.
Less lag when play games like Dota 2 or any PS4 games. Hope 1 day i will use LAN Cable to connect to internet.. huhu... laugh.gif laugh.gif

I need faster upload, a lot file synchronise with my cloud folder. Even 10MB file takes like forever to upload. Seriously it's 2017 who the heck still limited to 512Kbps upload speed? Oh ya, we the 4MB users...

QUOTE(GameSky @ Oct 13 2017, 09:39 PM)
reason to get unifi, too many family members streaming at home..lol.. dah la all offers and contest only available for unifi users... f*ck la tm...streamyx users pay so expensive ..apa dapat?
*
Use router's limit bandwidth by IP brows.gif

But 4MB can't even stream 1080p video. sad.gif

alright thanks for the suggestion. will look into it too.

Another question, I kept seeing tm contractor installing like small black/yellow pipe/cable along the main road into my town. are they renewing copper line or something?
*
Can ask them. How you know they are TM contractor? They got put the signs saying they are TM? If got then high chance your place going to get Unifi soon.

While browsing I stumble to this website.
On the comments section many people across the world comment about their ISP pricing and speed.

https://www.gbmb.org/mbps-to-mbs

Price per speed, Malaysia is really pathetic.

What do you expect..... sad.gif

My sister only pay SGD 37 for 1Gbps fiber at Singapore. Currency after conversion = RM115.
Meanwhile...In malaysia, we are paying RM179 or 199 for 30Mbps.  cry.gif

Try RM140 for 4Mbps

Is this from official tm? Damn that's almost half price.
Wonder existing subscriber can change it or have to terminate the line first.

If don't mind change your landline number, best way would be subscribe for the RM89 first, after gotten it only terminate the old number/package.

Just chat with TM live chat, rep said I'm not covered by 8Mbps hmm.gif but covered by UniFi instead. Isn't it using the same line? I'm in building btw, so I'll be using VDSL if I subscribe to UniFi.
*
Check on your modem, what's the max attainable rate?

I'm not sure whether streamyx and unifi is using same line.

2yrs contract seem hao siao one. me use 4mb rm88 student package as per mentioned 2 yrs contract, been using from 2007 till now 2017 keep paying rm88/month.

next question, can we upgrade to 8mb from 4mb and when can start upgrade? 8mb upload speed is 1mb or 512kbps?
*

Some gotten free upgrade from 4MB to 8MB on these few months. No matter you're paying RM88 or RM140, both also got. Maybe go ask first see if can upgrade to the bonanza.

QUOTE(altk1989 @ Nov 3 2017, 01:57 PM)
Just upgraded to 4Mbps on May RM130......and now this bullcrap comming out? What the hell TM? What you plan to do? vmad.gif

Anyawy, where the sources of the plan come from?
*
Ouch, this is the worst. They got bind you to 2 years contract?

The bonanza plan seem to be leaked by someone internal. Maybe staff or agent, since some agent also have know about the plan.

Everyone is getting the free speed upgrade without condition as long as supported / port available? Was told by TM live chat agent that only selected customers are eligible for the free speed upgrade.

Not sure, only some mention it in few threads.

Nope, need to go over TM Point to perform the upgrade. TM live chat is not helpful enough, most of the time agents unable to answer many queries due to system problem and limited access and keep asking customer go TM Point to find out doh.gif Ppl wouldn't have use live chat if they can go TM Point vmad.gif

So far only saw 1 or 2 Streamyx users reported getting free speed upgrade, really have limited info.
*
I also talked to live chat, everything also she ask to refer back to TM point. And it's always a she, I bet actually is a guy behind the keyboard.

Ya, not much people saying they got the free upgrade.

but customer who paying rm140 can downgrade price ?
*
Fkin tm they only allow to upgrade for promotion, and their definition of upgrade is by subscribing to higher price plan, the speed is not counted. Must be part of their kpi, to show that most people decide to upgrade after using tm service.

If you're not in contract, better to apply new line for the promotion, then terminate the current 140 plan. Remember, apply first, after gotten the line then only terminate the expensive plan.
