i had the same scenario with you.

here's what i did:

1) IBG out to other banks (RM2 for OTC IBG). Mine from Affin -> MBB.

2) Then online IBG (RM0.10 per RM10k per day) back to Affin's SA <- you need a SA for the promo FD, so create this SA when you uplift existing FD.

3) If online IBG to Affin's SA, they still allow to use the SA's fund; provided within few days before new FD placement. check with the branch's requirements.

4) Alternatively, use banker's cheque (e.g. MBB's banker's cheque is RM5) before placing the Affin FD.

Thank you Cybpsych for your advise.
But I went ahead to place FD in Ambank since the amount is not much.
Interest will be credited to the SA every six months which I think it's good.

I believe you open AMIslamic Bank FD for 36 months with 4.5% interest.
Is the interest credit every 6 months to your AMBank SA or AMIslamic Bank SA?

Ya loh, we are getting poorer with weak oil price & weak ringgit...our purchasing power will be affected.

I don't think I'm going for medium or long term FD at the time being.

Initial plan now is to find higher % return than FD to soften the blow...next year kena GST somemore...beh tahan lo sweat.gif
Ya loh, just place short term FD to see the cuaca first...

But can consider AM Bank 4.5% for 3 years.. hmm.gif

QUOTE(HJebat @ Dec 17 2014, 10:10 PM)
Thanks for the info.
Another Q: can we cancel the Coop card after activate iRakyat? To avoid kena charge annual fee by BR...
Warrior, I do not know the answer.
But so far I have not received any notification from BR that Coop card will be charged RM 5 annual fee..

Bursa kena massive hit by foreign funds...any plan to trim down some FD placement & deploy the $$$ to support the market? brows.gif

Malaysia boleh...BCC boleh... biggrin.gif

FD market is similar to share market recently, everybody is guessing the FD rate will go up or go down..
But the big difference is that FD will not lose money, unless if Titanic (bank bankrupt) happens... biggrin.gif

Waiting for banks to break the 4.2% for 12 mth FD. Previously SCB has 15 mth 4.25%. If not have to go for 2 or 3 yrs rate of Affin/4.38% or AmBank 4.5%.  biggrin.gif
*
Ah Goat Sir, did you receive any news from BR that Coop card will charge RM 5.00 annual fee?
If we cancel the Coop card, can we still use the iRakyat account?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 29 2014, 09:03 PM)
Just came across the PBB 3 months step up
3.88%
4.18%
4.28%

Which is quite attractive as well. 9 months effective 4.11%, an good option for those opt for shorter term than 1 year.

Just placed another FD with OCBC for 12M @ 4.2%, again asked for free gift but failed again lol

makes me wonder how you guys always get free gift:
1. my amount is too little for them
2. not good looking enough

hmm.gif

Bro, OCBC offers 12M @ 4.2%..?
I cannot find this info on OCBC website.

Do you know when this promo ends? Thanks

To see ALL OCBC FD Promos need to click on any of the FD/Savings Ad at their homepage which then gives you a liitle more info on the ad and then from there need to go click on T&C and you will get to see all promos.

The 4.2% 12 months was only offered effective 15th December 2014 and I noted OCBC has revised the validity of all their current FD promos to end 31 December. Let's see what we get on 2nd January 2015.

Thanks of highlighting Bro. This is fantastic news because Public Bank FD Promo runs until 28th Feb 2015. As such we can expect OCBC and UOB to continue offering 4.2% or even higher come next year.

Received an SMS from OCBC promoting about their new FD in which it pays customers 4%p.a for the first 12 months and 6%p.a for the next 1 month. They didn't state the minimum required amount but the due date for this promo is by the 31st of March.

Anyone try the AmBank 36 month 4.5% FD promo yet?
From the TnC, can't seems to find the interest frequency, e.g. monthly or half-annually.
Not sure if it is a good move to commit for 3 year straight... unsure.gif
*
I did happy.gif

The interest will be credited semi-annually.

The T&C did not mention anything about opening a SA requirement too...for interest crediting purpose grumble.gif

aiseh they always change the formula. this "base rate" replaces BLR... so no history of "BR" for comparison. It's like resetting to year zero.

Found this article on google

In nutshell, previously loans priced on BLR+-x%, now it's BR+x%. Like a cost + margin formula. If that's true, then Maybank , PBB, SCB & Citibank got the lowest cost of funds??

if take the lowest bank interest 3.15%

fd interest per day (1k * 3.15%) / 365 days = 0.086 cents
fd interest per day (10k * 3.15%) / 365 days = 0.86 cents

only large amt can see $$
