Gen-x sir,

You didn't reply my question yet. Although it is off topic. Can I used ASG/FD to apply for Maybank 2 Gold card? I am not working yet (studying) but I can use those cards to earn money after reading your post rather than using cash

In ASG and FD, I have >RM50k
*
As a principal card holder? Only way without income is to pledge FD.

Maybank offer 1 to 1 ratio of FD amount you pledge : Credit Limit.

DCI no thrill nowadays with single digit rate only.

Last time got 20~30% rate, then really thrill. thumbup.gif

Best is to check with the bank. Sometimes they say you need to show proof this that but sometimes the sales agent don't really follow also.

your fd need to be deposit to mbb at board rate. the amount u pledge is equal to your credit limit. you need to write in to mbb card center to put in this request they will then send you a letter whether approve or not.

with this letter you can go to any mbb branch and put in your fd per amount stated in offer letter. they will also let you sign an agreement to offset any outstanding with your fd if you fail to pay (i did not read the details so pls find out yourself). also pay rm10 for stamp duty.

i have tried to apply by showing off (fd certs and etc) but was rejected so i dont think it will work for you either. the whole point is mbb need smtg in hand before they grant you the card.

Bro, firstly, how old are you?

Secondly, clcik here to Credit Card Ask General Question Thread as more people there should be able to assist you.

Last but not least, I not not with Maybank Credit Card Evaluation Dept, so I won't have a clue if they will approve your application or not. You can easily go to Maybankard Centre to enquire if you qualify for their card or not.

munkeyflo, since you under probation I will not launch a complain and you may be excuse for spamming with two posts in a row, hahahaha. But seriously, in CC section, the Mods/Staff do not encourage posts in a row unless if a thread is inactive for awhile and a member wants to bum it up to get the attention of others on what he/she wants to share.

Captain Gen-X,
23 actually. But I have been saving since small and read your article, I feel better to use Maybank 2 card than cash. At least can earn something back.

Thought you know all about credit cards. Cause I read before on how you apply your cards without working.

I think I will try at Midvalley and see if they approve or not. If they don't approve, assume it is just window shopping. tongue.gif

As far as age goes, you are eligible for Principal credit card under BNM ruling.

However, in accordance to BNM ruling also, one needs minimum RM24K annual income to qualify for a credit card. So unless you have minimum RM600,000 FD earning you 4% interest (or combined with other source of income making it a total of RM24K/year), you technically won't be eligible for a credit card.

Just go ask your parents apply for the MBB 2 Cards and supp to you tongue.gif

Long ago when I was in USA, when I appliied for credit card, under source of income I listed - parents, hahahaha and they actually issued me credit cards (I have more than 5 while I was still an undergraduate).

Cash (in FD) is KING  tongue.gif
Old man are wise man  tongue.gif And if one is going to heaven soon, I guess no point to be in wealth accumulation mode, hahahaha.

Old man expenses not much (mainly medications and utility bills), with FD, they get guaranteed income (to pay for the medications and utility bills) and no headaches (e.g. funds stuck in Share Market during bear market, no need to attend to tenants' complains or worst tenant not paying rent or shop house got burned).

Another thing, old people not many have medical insurance, thus need cash when hospitalized. Moreover, a RM3M property is not going to pay (in time) for one's intensive care bills to prolong one's life that's for sure  sweat.gif
Everybody need cash in hand no matter at what stage in life.

Many young people (fresh graduate who are employed) are cashless (no savings) nowadays because they burn away their disposable income on unnecessary lifestyle (Jap restaurants, Alexis, Starbucks) and new gadgets (when their current model is still working perfectly) by signing up for installment plans and getting a Myvi with 9 years loan instead of getting a second hand car (or even maybe taking public transportation). Imagine the money they will have in years to come if they had used the money to repay loans and instead deposit it in FD. And what ever money saved can also be used to pay more down payment for a home and thus saving themselves in interest charges. And, FD is way better place to save money versus Savings Accounts.
Yeah, playing DCI got thrill unlike FD  laugh.gif

Interesting take on FD & cash. thumbup.gif rclxms.gif

Personally I would still place my asset in diff classes like FD, UT, property etc. Stock wise still holding some but not much, bad in playing stocks.

Until I have problem in looking at figures (leng lui excepted, barring my eyes still can see clearly) then will move everything to FD. But then have to depend on people to bring me to banks to place/uplift FD .............. cry.gif Cannot converse in this forum anymore .................... cry.gif

not going to work, your fd must be linked to your card.

to get mbb2card gold i dont think you need ten of thousand. a few k will do.

my advice:

1. deposit x amount at mbb over counter for 12m with board rate (3.3%)
2. write a letter to mbb card division, offer to pledge your fd of x amount to get mbb2card

Say I depoist RM20k, in mbb. They approve my card. Can I uplift the RM20k and put some where else? Or that FD cannot be uplifted? I have done previous online transcation for a while (2 years +) using my debit card. Can I used that to support my credit reputation?

Thank You Gen-X for your reply. Nice one. Parents. tongue.gif By the way, my parents don't believe in credit card like I told you in previous PM. They prefer cash. I am heartbroken they are not getting anything back. cry.gif

They don't believe people will give you free money. They believe that there is a catch some where despite me telling them about your blog. "They say he rich man can apply for ccredit card. You normal people, don't need to apply for credit card." Even my whole family old school thoughts. Don't believe in credit cards except me. Ask my sister to apply for it so I can do my online purchse, She shouted at me "Think I so free to log into M2U to pay for petrol and grocessaries everyday is it?!" Besides, if they apply for the card, they need to pay GST RM150. Not worth. At least, if I apply, I just need to pay RM100. Can save RM50.

That is why I figured better to do it myself than depend on people. Lead by example. Show them that credit card can earn you some money.

Really sad they using cash. cry.gif

Bro, 99.99% of the people are like you..... and when you said move everything to FD, I believe you meant whatever assets remaining you have not transferred or assigned to your loved ones (and whatever remaining assets you do convert to CASH will be more than enough for you to to survive and go play china dolls for another 100 years, hahahaha).

And sometimes it is not just vision, having a mild stroke, bypass or when one legs become weak will make a person plan ahead.

It's because of their old school thoughts that they are well off, debt free and got lots of cash with FDs. They don't believe in easy credit. And seriously, the really rich old timers don't have credit card and pays everything with CASH!

Bro, seriously, 90% of people (including me) who owns credit card(s) tend to spend more money than those who don't.

My advise to you is forget about CC now, after you graduate and start earning your own money to burn away then only go apply for one.

Nowadays who can assign everything out when you are still alive ? sad.gif shakehead.gif One may find that he has to beg to stay in the house he bought years ago. Better spent up children's inheritance and let them earn their worth !

no, you wont be able to uplift because the branch will keep your fd cert. like i said, the whole point is the bank want to keep the money in case you cant pay them back. theu want something to hold as you are unable to show your financial source.

For those who got eyesight problem, there is this program call Dragon Naturally Speaking. You can ask it to type your email, search for you, type word files and other stuff but I am sure it only understand American English/British English. According to the program, it will learn your language over time.

I am sure it cannot understand out Malaysian English tongue.gif

hahaha, a person who loves money more than anything will never assign anything out while he/she is still alive (as if he/she can take the assets to the grave).

and I see you get pleasure from seeing figures in your FD cert than having your other senses being stimulated tongue.gif

Very true about the house where one plans to die in should never be transferred out (while still alive) or even be bought under his/her children's name.

AND make sure if joint FD with wife or children where either one can sign, go with one that have cert (you keep it in a safe) and not statement based FD, hahahaha.
