QUOTE(KrisMas @ Sep 5 2014, 09:07 AM) Daily driven cars require more frequent MAINTENANCE, much like changing engine oil, the more distance you travel the more frequent you'd need to make the oil change. It's not about the dressing, it's about 'you'. Clean often enough, you don't really need dressings. Same goes to sealants/waxes. Wash your car often enough you don't really need these 'sacrificial protective layer' since contaminant don't have time to attack the paint. But in the real world, you'd need them since you won't be washing your car each and every day... Lol.. The thing that i scared most - washing the engine.. So I guess I just leave it first *Opening manual handbook to learn the engine component parts and everything.. |

QUOTE(roxx @ Sep 1 2014, 01:52 AM) biotin couldnt see clearly from your image to know what type of stains u had on your paint.. Guys ,First we need to know your paint condition.. Then we need to know type of water spots (if that was water spots) that u had.. Type 1 water spots - u can use those water spot remover from the shelf (aeon/ace hardware/etc) Type 2 water spots - u can use ultimate compound whether by hand or machine.. Use it wisely Type 3 water spots - etching into clear coat and I'm not sure can be remove. I have one on my car paint.. Honestly for me claying wont remove water spots.. I have so many type 2 and claying wont remove them.. Remember. Using ultimate compound will cut your clear coat.. So if I were u, i will use something less abrasive first to remove the stain (since I dont know which type u had) Previously I use UC to remove my type 2 ws and after doing some research, how I wish i use Duragloss Water Spots remover first before UC.. More effective and more safer to clear coat.. Choice is yours.. Patient.. Learn and decide.. Im still learning so hope if Im wrong, sifu please correct me ya.. heehehe .. All the dirty water spot has gone ! I bought the meguiars water spot remover .. damn this thing work wonderfully .. no effort at all .. highly recommended . I also bought the meguairs clay bar set , and Ultimate compound in case the water remover didnt work. Bought those at 20% discount at Aeon last weekend . Thanks guys .. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Do you hand applies the Meguiar's Water Spot Remover? Do you feel that the product dried up very fast and often after you work on the product on the paint, you want to wipe away the residue, you can't because it is already dried so you got to either spray water or drop a few more fresh products to make it wet again and quickly wipe it off before it dries again? efaceninja Do not have to be so afraid. If you ever pay attention to some of the service center, they just directly use a high pressure water gun, spray water to the engine bay, without any sort of covering. It is not a cautious practice and definitely not mean to be encouraging, but just to assure you that often time you will be fine. This post has been edited by scoutfai: Sep 5 2014, 07:32 PM |

Yep , by hand . .. TRUE ! That thing dries up quickly and it leave the residue . Want to know what i did ? I dilute some in water, and use the polish pad to remove the residue . It worked . Any other "trick" to remove that ? Thanks for sharing This post has been edited by biotin: Sep 5 2014, 12:32 PM |

Thanks for sharing Yes I also face the drying issue with hand application. As mention earlier I just spray water or put a few more drops of fresh product onto the foam pad and quickly spread it to "re-wet" the dried residue, then MUST be very fast to wipe it off, otherwise dried up again. I didn't thought of your method, I tried next time, thanks for the idea. No I do not have any other way already. But I do notice one thing, if applied at middle of night then dried up isseu is reduce, the product very sensitive to temperature, even not in direct sunlight, the heat up surrounding air will also cause it to dry up. I have a DA so when I applied with DA then the issue is kind of not appearing. Not surprising, since with a machine brute force the foam just keep wiping away whatever it is touching. But there is always occasion where hand application is the only way. This post has been edited by scoutfai: Sep 5 2014, 07:31 PM |

Aside choose to wash using garden house or water pressure, what cleaner chemical, brushes to use...etc
Its good to invest such a device ![]() This will really help to ensure all the socket are properly dry (no need unplug to blow) before you restart your engine... Also washing engine should be FAST ! Dun let the chemical sit too long on the surface (regards plastic or any engine compartment)...also NOT advisable to use STRONG chemical which might faded or burn up the engine part surface.... efaceninja, doesn't look like there's much to cover there. But, just for extra precautions, personally I would use some aluminium foil to cover those sockets with exposed (coloured) wire.
Belting don't use grease so no need to cover. But the alternator...well...if you're going to use a degreaser then better not let the degreaser enter the alternator. Water is ok but not degreaser. Again, not much danger but just to be extra safe la. And the rest, I think you're good to go and about time too before it gets even dirtier and harder to clean.... |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I have exactly this item. The only drawback is it is so loud, especially when it blowing on small holes or tight space, the sound produced is so high in pitch and disturbing to neighbor ears. So can't use it at early morning or night. This post has been edited by scoutfai: Sep 5 2014, 07:36 PM |
