QUOTE(d_scientist @ Aug 30 2014, 10:41 AM) Hi guys... disturb again. I got my new car but thinking of to coat or not to coat. If I don't coat. What is the next step I should take to take care of the paint. 1st step, regardless u coat or not, learn proper washing methods and techniques. Even if you coat, proper washing is THE MOST important step to get right.Thank you again sifus QUOTE(calvin @ Aug 30 2014, 12:12 PM) would like to ask.. what's the difference between Meg's QDetailer and QWax application ? both looks the same from the product description, although i feel that QD has more cleaning properties and QW has more protection properties. You've just answered your own question there. |

QUOTE(roxx @ Sep 3 2014, 08:08 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « hehehe....shouldn't cause any problem la. Used to use dishwashing detergent for quite some times and so far my polishing pads are still sound. A little suggestion for cleaning those difficult-to-clean sealants/AIO/glaze from pads, etc. - Dawn Power Dissolver. You can use it straight but I've been using it at 1:1 dilution and it still work (especially in this case cuz DPD is a little on the expensive side). Spray liberally onto the face of pad, leave it for NO MORE than 1/2 hour to let it work and soak into the pad, squeeze and agitate with your finger. Blast the pad with a pressure washer, if you don't have one use your garden hose at fan setting or strong jet, or just squeeze and rinse under the kitchen tap. So far DPD had never failed me. Just take note NEVER leave it to soak overnight or for more than an hour cuz it would deteriorate the foam/sponge. Oh...another thing...DPD would require much more rinsing as compared to dish washing liquid so...well...just take note of it la. This pad (Megs Finishing pad) was loaded with residue of Megs M21 (also some dirt) and M21 (a little purplish in colour) is notorious in staining pads and difficult to clean. I've already used the pad for some times before decided to 'experiment' with DPD. And believe me when I said it's even more difficult to clean M21 off the pads as compared to DG501. ![]() |

QUOTE(thom_chai @ Sep 3 2014, 10:23 AM) That is a huge difference right there. I normally use Lux soap bar to wash my pad I tell you man...I've tried *almost* everything in my arsenal for cleaning the M21/DG501 (including DP Pad Rejuvenator - sample sachet from one of my AG purchases)...nothing can clean the pads as good as DPD. And (knock wood) so far I haven't had any of my pads velcro coming of yet. But then, I only use DPD for Sealant/AIO/glaze only la....for polishes and compounds normal dishwashing detergent more than good enough already. And nowadays, more and more 'water-based' compounds/polishes are around and plain water can clean them already....For tough stain, I use Meg's APC 10:1 or OPC 3:1, works most of the time. Just afraid those strong cleaner will deteriorate the velcro glue in the pad. QUOTE(roxx @ Sep 3 2014, 10:40 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Thank You master jedi.. Eh silap.. Master krismas, actually wanted to buy DPD but not available at ace hardware.. Since I need to use my pad badly, i wash it using dishwashing soap.. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 3 2014, 12:08 PM) Yes, they are. Try using Menz (85rd) or Optimum (FP) or Megs (older M80/M82) finishing polishes then you'd see the differences. The 'oil based' polishes are generally grey-ish in colour.... |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 3 2014, 12:24 PM) Yup. Easy to clean too....just remember to wash it straight away after use and don't wait until the next day or your next 'free time'... roxx...ooppss...forgot (or rather didn't have the time to tell you that day) about application method. For me, I prefer to wipe on with a foam pad...leave it for a little while (like 15mins or so) then apply again adding only a teeny weeny bit of product on the foam pad and keep on wiping until the surface clears up. I found that the WOWA (Wipe On Walk Away) method didn't work as good. Maybe you can try it next time ya.... |

QUOTE(efaceninja @ Sep 3 2014, 07:08 PM) RM 146 for the D155. Osren's one is even even cheaper! RM 38 for 4L~! imagine the Meg's APC & SD cost around RM 130 ish. Not trying to undermine or overhype any products here, but if you want to effectively compare the costs, you should consider the cost of product used PER SESSION/application.For example, lets jut take the two products that you mentioned above, Osren Multi Clean is RM40 for 4L = RM10/L megs APC is RM140 for 1gal OMC strongest recommended dilution is neat/straight up (pls correct me if i'm wrong) APC max reco dilution is 1:4 so for RM140 you'd get 5 gals = RM7.40/L See...the above is just an example. If my assumptions are correct and also assuming the two products performance is the same at strongest dilution, then APC looks to be cheaper. Just an example ya... |

QUOTE(efaceninja @ Sep 3 2014, 07:53 PM) oppsss, you're right there. i didn't think that deep ma master. yup osren multi clean / fabric cleaner is RTU type no dilution recommended. but the Degreaser FX does require 1:4 dilution for normal use, 1:1 for strong use la. well i think we need to take into consideration of the effectiveness of the products which is even more difficult to quantify and compare, can only based on experience lols. Value Management....that's what i call it. And yeah, like I said, lots of assumptions involved and, also like you said, some can't be easily quantify, personal preferences included.need to make a new excel file for calculating all these lols. thanks sifu for the insight & reminder btw, latest price (last week) Meg D101 APC should be RM 121 if i remember correctly. |

QUOTE(efaceninja @ Sep 4 2014, 04:55 PM) Lols if i use my common sense, i would've covered almost all the things in engine bay and ended up washing the plastic bags (which is covering the whole engine bay).. because my commom sense tells me "DON'T SPRAY WATER INTO/ONTO ENGINE! ITS DANGEROUS!" Aiyoo...if you think like that ah...then don't drive when it rains and, when you do, go over all the puddles very very slowly because all the water would be splashing about and enter the engine bay wooohhh...try open the hood and have a look at the engine after you've driven through heavy rain....hahaha.As for engine dressing, beside Meg Hyper Dressing, what's the alternative? But, seriously, most modern engines are quite 'water proofed'....quite safe. |

No coating there guys....CD2 Engine Detailer. And the pictures were taken after just a spray with Megs SD + rinse (no brushing, scrubbing, etc.), and the CD2 applied (after a thorough cleaning, of course) a couple of months (or so) before that.

QUOTE(Phantom Renegade @ Sep 4 2014, 09:40 PM) Not quite far but I never in my life step my feet in Singapore yet. It's quite a hassle to do my passport just for the sake of getting this stuff... but thanks a lot for your suggestion. Can be considered in the future. They do online shop and ship here. Close to you maybe shipping/currier would be cheaper. |
