Last night, Veronica Mars.
Two nights ago, Pompeii. Planning to watch Winter's Tale tonight. A lot of backlog. Saw 300 ROE, Spiderman 2 and CA Winter Soldier on cinema. Will try and catch them again on the smaller screen if time permits to see if their bluray release is anything special. |

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Aug 8 2014, 06:39 PM) Eh, i was kinda okay with the love story. It showed that he struggled trying to love her and protect her in the same time, a classic superhero problem.Well, I guess there's way too much of the love story that makes people hate it. What I dont like is that they basically did what Spiderman 3 did. Cram in as many villains as possible in a movie. Electro is suppose to be a great villain but they pretty much screwed it up. His reason for being evil was way too silly. Goblin was decent, meh. I feel like they should stick to 1 villain per movie like what Nolan did in the batman trilogy. More villains = crappy villains Which makes me worry for the upcoming Sinister Six movie that they had plan. |

Blended (2014)
Okay, let's cut through the chase. How bad is this movie? Frankly, it is pretty up there!!! Okay, if you had watched The Love Guru (2008), this is almost as bad... Bottom line, Adam Sandler tried SO hard to make this funny and it ended up counter intuitive... It does have two (2) good parts » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And the absolutely worst thing about this movie is » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Well, if you watch it after reading this, you cannot say I did not try to warn you... godzilla.... worst movie of 2014.
should be called darkzilla. becos first 80% of the movie is in 80% darkness, can't see much. last 20% in 95% darkness. you can will fall asleep in the last 25 min. ya, power blackout, nuclear clouds, sunset, nightime.... but bad for movie. unlike, say battleship or pacific rim, all is bright, all aliens, spacecraft, monsters in full color and bright. |

thread quiet... must be becos currently, a dearth of blockbuster movies...
meantime, i hv 3 concerts to recommend - if the music genre suits u: air supply live in hong kong 2013 the 2 aussies are getting old, all white hair but can still croon and woo the romantics. the concert hall looks cheap, nothing much to look at but the music captured is good. 1980's reminiscence, love songs, pop-rock. in dts hdma, bass a bit heavy, test yr subwoofer. overall, quite a blast for 100 mins. ![]() sarah brightman dreamchaser world tour 2013 brightman looking plump but still the grand soprano. this concert hasn't got all her lloyd webber's greatest hits but time to say goodbye, neesun dorma and phantom of the opera are there. most striking in this concert is the impressive use if laser lights and a stage size curved screen as background. in dts hdma. ![]() zz top live in montreux 2013 texan trio of husty hill, frank beard and billy gibbons continues. as usual the longbeards rock like they always do. all familiar songs - la grange, tosh, got me under presssure, etc. dts hdma, play loud! ![]() |

Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971)
I am an avid Disney fan. Disney as a movie company isn't "perfect". There are some older movies that played on, lacking a better "racial stereotype", so much so that the company does not even contemplate releasing them on home video (VHS, DVD & Bluray. A movie comes to mind is Song of the South [1946]). Don't know which movie I am talking about? Without that movie, we would not have the Academy Award winning song, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah!! Don't get me wrong, this is not a racist movie (er.. there is that German scene), what I want to impress on you here is that there are older Disney movie, that I find.... coining a more current vocabulary, meh!!! While Disney was making Mary Poppins (1964) even when producing the movie, Disney did not get the book to movie rights from the author (Saving Mr Banks [2013] anyone?). In one of these desperate moments where Disney feels he cannot get the rights to Mary Poppins, the Sherman Brothers who were working on the music for Mary Poppins where ask to work on music for another book. One which Disney had gotten the movie rights to, namely Bedknobs and Broomsticks. A few songs were written, and then Disney got the rights to Mary Poppins and it was full steam ahead for Mary Poppins. After Walt's passing, the Sherman Brothers left Disney, and in 1970, they were invited back, to further work on Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Disney was hoping for another family oriented movie like Mary Poppins. The movie was completed in 1971, and one week later, Walt's brother, Roy, passed away.... What am I going on about? The story in this movie is plenty HAPHAZARD!!! Supposedly, the lady lead Angela Lansbury, because of the special effects was told how to act, and she was very unhappy about that, and it shows... Another issue which I think could have made the story so, was that they cut a three hour movie into less than two, so that the theaters could play the movie more often during the release.... Just a very clunky movie... The bluray version have alot of extended scene and cut scene and instead of putting them back into the movie, they was put in the supplementary section instead... Clunky. I can see how the movie can be appealing to the really young'un. I cannot remember if I saw this when I was young... I however remember watching it on TV... so.... Clunky. Not a great classic in my books. And I am saying this, as an AVID fan of Disney movies.... Please understand that this is JUST an opinion. My Two Sen |

The Internship (2013)
I don't like Vince Vaughn. I just don't!! Having said that, I was actually surprise I like this. In this bad economic times and with jobs getting scarce what happened to Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson is occurring more and more often. What I like most about this movie is the can do attitude of Vince Vaughn's character, even when the chips are down. An entertaining comedy, with actually really good life learn. Watch it if you haven't My Two Sen |

Hungry Ghost Ritual 盂蘭神功 (2014)
Nick Cheung directorial debut and... he chose a ghost story?? First Simon Yap now him?... Do they really think that horror movies are easy to make?? The interesting thing was it was actually filmed in Malaysia (Why do Hong Kies thinks that Malaysia's spooky??). The thing that shocked me most was... seeing a Proton Waja in one of the scenes!! Movie revolves around an Cantonese Opera Troupe. There is a twist at the end, and I think there lies the issue... Nick Cheung in his directorial debut, tried to pull an M Knight Shamalyan!!! Did not quite work.. At least not to me. I do have to add, that the very last frame of the movie is actually... poetic!! Not the best horror movie by far, Nick Cheung needs to attend film school.... I'm mean, I know. My Two Sen. This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Sep 21 2014, 09:00 PM |

Anyway, I've recently just watched X-Men Days of Future Past (2014), The Maze Runner (in the cinema), and As Above So Below (in the cinema as well).
Can't say a lot about X-Men but it was a pretty good film, though I didn't understand some stuff because I've never watched any X-Men movie before. As for The Maze Runner, it was a really great movie!! Loved it. Enough said. And As Above So Below was a pretty .. okay movie. I didn't like it that much and felt sleepy and dozed off for a bit multiple times. The movie was set (most of the time) inside a dark cave-like place (underground) and you can't really see much. Was an 'okay' horror movie. A little bit boring I'd say. Currently looking to watch The Hundred Foot Journey and Annabelle in the cinema! I don't know where else to talk about what movie did you watch in the 'cinema', so might as well just post it here alongside what movie I've watched on my computer. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 22 2014, 03:27 PM) publichd and rarbg relationship.... i din know that, thanks! Yeah, TPB and other generic search engines do contain torrent links to some quality encodes, but if you browse via the "top 100" or something similar, you can rarely see a non-YIFY quality encode.actually, tpb n other generic search engines also contain many publichd or rarbg links, so ok..... QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 22 2014, 03:35 PM) yes, u will need to follow the last few movies to get all of it, especially the history of the characters wolverine, Charles n magneto. Agreed. I still decided to watch it anyway because I was bored and wanted a movie to watch. It was a good movie for a quick watch, fun and exciting, even if you do not knowthe history of the X-Men movie universe and it's characters. |

QUOTE(IntensiveBytes @ Sep 22 2014, 03:14 PM) You guys have a lot to learn. TPB and KAT sucks 99% of the time because the movie encodes uploaded on there are absolute junk.. well, its up to the users to choose which to have. some ppl go for the highest quality but some are only looking for decent sizes. in TPB, I found both. its about the sources and it is up to users to choose.YIFY encodes suck.. Of course I will not come in here and just say this to you guys without giving you a better solution! RARBG is currently the best (it used to be Public-HD until they went MIA) if you want to download from public trackers. Otherwise, look into private trackers, they are the best place to get your stuff. |

Most of the search contain low, mid, high, super high quality. Have to look into the detail information from the uploader post. Publichd also have lousy quality source.

Ghostbusters II (1989)
Frankly, I was not a fan of this movie when it first came out. I thought it was a little tacky. Having said that and having a chance to watch it again, I actually dig this now. The interaction between Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver & Harold Ramis is just priceless... Not to forget Rick Moranis & Ernie Hudson. Harold Ramis will be solely missed in the third installment (they are supposedly making part 3) The pre CGI effect as cheesy as they are are actually quite good!! They sure don't make em like they used to... Really enjoyed the interview with Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman in this one. Don't know what I'm going on about? Watch this and you'll see. Comedies anyone?
The Other Guys (2010) ![]() A black comedy film starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg (and also Eva Mendes & Michael Keaton). We seldom see Mark Wahlberg do comedies. This is a must watch. It's about investigation on a Ponzi Scheme with a lot of hillarious dialogues and scenes. Horrible Bosses (2011) ![]() Another black comedy film starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx. It's about 3 friends frustrated with their own bosses and hatch out plans to kill each other bosses to avoid suspicions. You'd be surprised to see Jeniffer Aniston's character in the movie! Hillarious dialogues and scenes throughout the whole movie..another must watch! |

Million Dollar Arm (2014) Life's got you down? Need something inspiring? Well, for something more recent, I would recommend this!! Based on a true story. Please be advise that this is a drama, story driven movie, without explosion and multi-million dollars special effect. If you are patience and like to see a feel good movie, please consider Nice to see Suraj Sharma outside of Life Of Pi!! My Two Sen |

Zoolander (2001) QUOTE Water Is the Essence of Moisture. Moisture is the Essence of Beauty!! ~ Derek Zoolander Yes, this is a dumb movie. It is SO dumb in fact, it is actually very good!! I really think this is Ben Stiller's best work to date. The amount of talent in this movie is staggering!! Owen Wilson Christine Taylor (Ben Stiller's Wife) Will Ferrell Milla Jovovich Jerry Stiller (Ben Stiller's Father) David Duchovny Jon Voight Alexander Skarsgård Donald Trump Christian Slater Tom Ford Cuba Gooding Jr. Tommy Hilfiger Natalie Portman Fabio Lenny Kravitz Gwen Stefani Heidi Klum David Bowie Vince Vaughn Tyrese Gibson Billy Zane Wynona Ryder James Marsden Etc, etc!!! Mainly cameo's and all tongue in cheek!! Malaysia is mention here, in a way you'll never guess, and I wonder when this was release was it banned in Malaysia? (Anyone??) From "looks" (eg Blue Steel and Magnum) to self inflicted wedgies (ouch) this movie is ridiculously entertaining. If you have not seen this, watch it. It is a very VERY good comedy! A Haunted House 2 (2014)
Okay, chances are, if you are reading this, it means you have either watched A Haunted House (2013) or you are familiar with Marlon Wayans' movies. This is a comedy/horror that is R Rated. R Rated not because of the horror elements but because you'll see many sides of Marlon Wayans you never wanted to see.... Movie this movie take the mickey out of are The Conjuring (2013) (I will NEVER look at Annabella the same way again...) All the Paranormal Activities I think too much focus is place on Marlon Wayans... So if you are a fan of his... My Two Sen |

Color of Night (1994)
I recall not liking this movie when it first come out. After all this years, revisiting it, I STILL do not like this movie... The story is cookie, and I believe this is the... "TRASHIEST" movie, Bruce Willis is in, to date. The crazy thing is that there were alot of talents here Scott Bakula Lance Henriksen Rubén Blades etc. Yes, I consciously left Jane March out of the list of talent. I suppose after Fatal Attraction, that kinda started a wave, and this is one of the results from the said wave. Really really... trashy... My Two Sen |

how to train your dragon 2 is not as good as the prequel.
the first 30 min or so was slow, took too long to get to the core of the story. and it somehow comes across as copying a little too much from avatar - the flying movements, colors of wings and even the floating mountains. overall, still very watchable. 3/5. ![]() |

i m not much into drama but this one is good, recommended.
boyhood is a coming-of-age drama movie, supposedly filmed over 12 years with the same actors/actresses. as the title suggests, it is about kids growing up, not always in the most favorable environment and circumstances. very realistic, well portrayed. young adults and parents alike should like it. stars ethan hawke. 2hr 45min. 4/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Nov 2 2014, 01:32 AM |

See the cast age by 12 years from the beginning to the end of the movie.boyhood is a coming-of-age drama movie, supposedly filmed over 12 years with the same actors/actresses. as the title suggests, it is about kids growing up, not always in the most favorable environment and circumstances. very realistic, well portrayed. young adults and parents alike should like it. stars ethan hawke. 2hr 45min. 4/5. ![]() Ethan Hawke was in his "Before" trilogy of couse, Before Sunrise (1994), Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013) over a span of almost 20 years. The other movie that comes to mind naturally is the Harry Potters over 7 years. |

The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom 白髮魔女傳之明月天國 (2014)
*Ouch* Really??? Seriously?? Is this a recipe of how to lose USD 65,000,000??? (You read the number of zeros correctly, I've double checked) The first two acts of the script was actually decent. Trying it to the Mystery Of The Red Pill during the Ming Dynasty is also clever. Casting is decent. And then the end of the 2nd act and the 3rd act... And the ending!!!! What the... Also, paying Homage to Leslie Cheung (who was in a pretty successful adaptation of this book in the 90s...) at such an "awkward" spot is no homage... Disappointing... My Two Sen |

Step Up Revolution (2012)
Okay, the Step Up series had evolved to a point that it has absolutely nothing to do with the first Step Up. Okay, this movie probably has the WORST storyline. Supposedly, America LOVES an underdog. Which serves as the basis of this movie's storyline. A greedy developer wants to re-develop a stretch of property that is considered a "dump". A dance crew (The Mob) happen to live at this dump and they created a Youtube sensation with their "Flash Mob" dance routine.... Can you possibly imagine how this would end?? The ending is Highly Improbable, because as much as the American like an Underdog, they LOVE money much MUCH more. Having said the above, the dance sequences are good, and much different from the previous movies, a bit of Performance Art, A bit of Cirque... So if you enjoy these you'll enjoy the movie. Did miss Harry Shum Jr... Not sure why he was not invited to participate in this. My Two Sen. |

Step Up All In (2014)
They really REALLY should retire this series... Each one becomes less and less of a shadow of it's previous self... They brought back alot of fan favorite for this movie, with the exception of Channing Tatum (too expensive) How so? I cannot pay my rent to I can afford the stage set at the end of the movie???? Stage set grows on trees? Too Cirque Du Soliel... My Two Sen |

Foreign Correspondent (1940)
Put this on a couple of weeks back and was really excited. It is not usual for me to find an Alfred Hitchcock movie I have not seen before. I have to tell you, my expectation was high... and after watching the movie... This is a strange movie... The plot is so... overly convoluted, it absolutely makes NO SENSE!! In my opinion, I believe Hitchcock had made so many similar movie, he got bored, and this movie suffered for it... The "highlight" of the movie » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « was so... unbelievable and the last frame of the movie was basically a US poster for selling War Bonds (this movie was just before Pearl Harbour incident) so am actually puzzled by this. This movie actually deminish Hitchcock a bit in my eyes... I was disappointed, or could it be, I expected too much... This movie was release the same year as Rebecca (1940) (Hitchcock first American movie) and I love Rebecca much much more... My Two Sen |

North by Northwest (1959)
For the life of me, I cannot understand, how I had watched this movie a couples of time and not posted a review of this movie here... I am really REALLY getting old. My, Hitchcock sure liked Cary Grant. He had appeared in Hitchcock's, Suspicion (1941), Notorious (1946), To Catch a Thief (1955) & North by Northwest (1959). SO much so, that one would question if Cary Grant knew that it is actually director Stanley Donen who directed Charade (1963) (a Hitchcock-ish movie) and not Hitchcock!! Being one of Hitchcock's best known works, I don't know if there is any additional information I can add to this except for 1) Paramount Pictures contracted Hitchcock out to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) to do this, and after the success of this movie, Paramount supposedly pressured Hitchcock for another "North by Northwest-ish" project for Paramount and Hitchcock said no. Hitchcock then approach Paramount with Psycho and because of the subject matter, Paramount refused to fund the movie, and Hitchcock himself had to come up with the money for Psycho instead but he was under contract to make another 2/3 movies for Paramount... A solution was devised, Hitchcock would fund Psycho and Paramount would distribute and they would split the profits (if any). Allegedly, the movie was made under USD 1,000,000 and it went on to make USD 32,000,000. So, everyone was happy!! 2) After this movie, Hitchcock did offer Grant another role in his movie, namely, Torn Curtain (1965), and Grant declined, on the ground that he was already working on his last movie, Walk, Don't Run (1966) and would retire after that. Paul Newman got the role in Torn Curtains instead and allegedly, Paul and Hitchcock DID NOT GET ALONG.... Hitchcock swore he would never work with another "big star" after that, and he never did... Oh, one last thing... If they had handphones back then, this movie's plot would not had worked... My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Dec 8 2014, 05:19 PM |

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
Gosh James Stewart is really young in this one. For a movie that was made in 1939, it's view about political system is still quite poignant. Mr Smith is a young gentleman, who was selected to be a Senator, to replace another Senator who had passed away. because of his youth, the people who selected him, thought he would be easy to manipulate, so they can push through the stuff they want through the House Of Senate. Mr Smith turned out to be more than they could bargain for... I like this. It is drama, but I like it. My Two Sen |

Kung Fu Jungle 一個人的武林 (2014)
Okay, Donnie Yen made a name for himself in the Ip Man 1 & 2. Bodyguards and Assassins (2009) was okay, but every other stuff he had done so far... This is supposed to be his "comeback" movie and it is only decent... The Good 1) The Fighting scenes are very well done 2) Bring fist fights into modern era again is handled well 3) Paying homage to as many past and present actors/action coordinator/directors/stunt persons is greatly appreciated 4) Slick production The Bad 1) Donnie "need" to be seen as the peoples' person comes across as forced (especially after all the "rumors about him being a prima donna, in real person) 2) The villain motive is so flimsy that you cannot even break tofu with it!!! The Ugly 1) The minute Donnie leaves prison to help the police, I could already see the "twist" for the movie, and that is only 15 minutes into the movie, talk about anti climatic.... I can only chalk this up as nice try. My Two Sen |

The Boxtrolls (2014)
Although this movie is produced in the US, for some odd reason there is a decidedly "English" air to it!! Think Wallace and Gromit!?! The stop motion animation is done flawlessly! I have not be so impress since A Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) The story is engaging and the delivery is good. The voice actors all brought their A game. If you want to watch something different, and it is for the whole family, this is a great recommendation. It starts slow but by the second act you are sold, hooked, line and sinker!! My Two Sen. |

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013)
Studio Ghibli has done it again. Isao Takahata latest is best described as ART. From the Chinese Watercolor approach to the animation. Every brushstroke so effortless and care free. But make not mistake, nothing about the artwork for this animation is happy happenstance. Everything is merticulously planned and executed. Based on Japanese folklore, supposedly, the reason Mount Fuji is called Mount Fuji, is because of this Princess. The first act is so full of joy, wonder and the innocence of youth. The second act, more sedated and muted (er... winter is coming?? Still watching it, not sure how the third act would end BRB ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am back. Just finished the movie. There is nothing pretentious about this movie. Everything is done from a pure PURE heart. Breathtaking!! Now, I have to look for the Original Sound Track... As Above, So Below (2014)
I think the horror genre is tap out at this point in time. Admittedly, apart from the decent Deliver Us From Evil (2014) and also Babadok (2014) I am not sure there is any good horror in 2014. I watched the above today and it is just decent. Points are scored for "showing" the French Catacomb. Why would any living person visited the said place is beyond me (same goes for the English version)!! Who would have thought that Nicolas Flamel (a 14th Century's scribe and manuscript-seller) (of Harry Potter fame??!) is really. Supposedly, there is a rumor after his death, during the 17th century that he had discovered The Philosopher's Stone and the said stone has the ability to grant immortality. In this movie, archaeologist, Scarlett, takes father her father and is chasing after The Philosopher's Stone and at any cost... Apparently, Nicolas Flamel grave holds the the secret, and the catacombs runs underneath his tomb... Let the terror begin??? It is a mildly entertaining horror movie. For a horror movie, there really isn't much that is really scary or shocking... Even with the French Catacomb as the back drop... My Two Sen |

The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961)
Now, for something really different. This is the first time I watched this movie (it is English) and it is pretty good. The transfer is pleasant and the storyline (drama) is actually gripping. Considered director Val Guest crowning achievement. Was headline by English actor, Edward Judd (who is very good here and for some odd reason did not achieve stardom that everyone who saw this expected him to.) Janet Munro had a good run at Disney, and on returning to England asked Van Guest to grow her up in the eyes of her audience (so please be advise that there are some nude scenes in this movie and that earned this movie an X rating in England). This movie "prophesied" global warming and when the script was send to a scientist for science verification during production, the scientist replied to the director/script writer (Van Guest) was "gripping but the science in it is b@lls" (the director's exact words, not mine). One major difference between 1961 and now is news print. Back then the newspaper is seen as a reliable source of information, and reports have a duty to report what is true, nowadays... lets just say, the sale of advertisement is the forefront. This movie has an interesting way to end the movie. My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Jan 5 2015, 08:37 AM |

Horns (2013)
Okay. This movie is probably one of the most "multi-genre" movie I have seen, it is... "stunning" Tragedy, Murder-Mystery, Love Story, Horror, Drama & Black Comedy!?! Many people would know about this movie because of Daniel Radcliffe. I know about his role in Equus, but actually seeing him the the "flesh"... I am not going to see the Harry Potter series the same, ever again... A big chunk of the movie is the and unfortunately, I solved the mystery 15 mins in, so... the ending was sort of anti climatic for me... And in the end » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « All I can add to this is this movie is different. Modestly budgeted, quite polish-ly executed. I kinda like this. It is off beat. I think you will either love it or hate it. My Two Sen. |

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Jan 25 2015, 12:42 AM) when BIRDMAN bluray coming yes, birdman is special... with some special clever punches.a different kind of pulp fiction. michael keaton, edward norton, emma stone, the guy from hangover... good cast. recommended 3.5/5. the interview has been condemned politically by certain parties. but as a comedy, it is entertaining. not as funny as the hangover or horrible bosses but funny enough. enjoy - 3.5/5. QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 24 2015, 06:51 PM) yeah, john wick is good. keenu reeves, michael nyqvist, willem dafoe. Hi AVFan and All,simple story but stylish. solid 100 min entertainment. 3.5/5. I concur to your opinion as John Wick hands down all the way. From one angle, this could be just another typical ganster/action movie but from another angle, the gist, the "simple" dialogue, the real Keanu himself in this movie is something we don't get from others. Quite similarly to Denzel's Equalizer, quite there but each has their own substances.. But.... I just caught Jason Statham's Wild Card, just too bad he wanted to follow the trail but simply too bad Jason you just don't make it in your way...Just my 2cents |

The Vault of Horror (1973)
Now this really brings me back to the past. I actually remember watching this on TV back in the day, on RTM!!!! Excellent example of what you can do with good actors, good story and 0 budget! The English is really good with this method of delivery!!! This is an anthology, meaning there are five stories in one movie, namely, Segment 1 "Midnight Mess" Segment 2 "The Neat Job" Segment 3 "This Trick'll Kill You" Segment 4 "Bargain in Death" Segment 5 "Drawn and Quartered" Each story as they were told, gets more and more macabre! And at the end of it all, a conclusion is done. The ending has been widely imitated and have to add, when I first watched it on TV many years ago the ending blew my MIND!!!! After all the big budget flops, you don't know how much I enjoy this, and if you like horror, give this a go, why don't you. My Two Sen |

The Man With the Iron Fist (2012)
Absolutely terrible movie. A disgrace to kung-fu action genre. Horrible and corny dialog, terrible acting by what seems like a decent cast (seriously Russell Crowe?!). A black man... trying to be some amped up Donnie Yen? All of that wouldn't have been so bad if the fighting was actually good. But the problem is, it isn't. Overuse of slow-mos and way too much camera cuts because none of the actors or actresses could actually fight (or at least pretend that they can). If you can't have a story, then at least have good fights. But when you have neither, then why was this movie even made?! I know I'm 2 years late into watching this terrible piece of crap, but damn.. I wished I didn't ever watch it. Waste of time. Not worth rating. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Feb 7 2015, 06:15 PM |

Hi all I done this today afternoon. I don't quite comprehend the detail of flow/logic from the story but all in all it is quite resemblance "Interpreter" by Nicole and Sean Pean. Based on the true life account... reporter should do what best to tell the truth but not "everyone" enjoy the truth especially if it is involving the government agency and drugs. No action thrill from the movie. Mainly intense dialogue and keep you winding what would have happened to this poor Gary. I give it a 5/10.

This is a really not bad movie. Special effect not much to brag about, the story is so intuitive and made me wanna become the nightcrawler itself if only,,, I lost my job..and ...and...our media is free to air! If I hav to comment, the lead could be played better by Shia Labeouf... Jake somehow did not up punch enough(rather I feel he more resembles a psychopath) ..just not there yet...My score is 3.5/5 overall...

the 3rd and final episode of the hobbit, the battle of the five armies... is excellent.
this episode reminds me of the two towers of lotr. several of the lotr chracters not seen in the first 2 hobbit movies came on - elrond, galadriel, saruman and legolas. it ends nicely back in the shire - so that u can watch lotr again! great job from peter jackson. 4.5/5. best watched in 5.1/7.1 dtshdma. i wonder if jackson will attempt to make a movie out of tolkien's silmarillion before he retires! ![]() exodus: gods and kings - i was disappointed, i expected more from ridley scott. some action scenes were well done, dtshdma audio is good, but nothing much else. even christian bale did not add much to it. as a movie overall, i say it is poor. 2/5. ![]() |

interstellar is stellar!
almost 3 hrs of riveting entertainment n thrill - if you like syfy, space travel, time travel, save-the-human-race, that is. the special effects aren't exactly the best but the drama buildup is excellent. u may get emotional and tearful towards the end. marvelous job from chris nolan, director of dark knight trilogy and inception. star studded cast: matthew mcconaughey, anne hathaway (dark knight rises), jessica chastain (zero dark dirty), michael caine, john lithglow, matt damon... the film will remind u of what u saw in these same genre movies: .. 2001 a space odyssey - hal, jupiter .. 2010 odyssey 2 - aero breaking, the ghost of david bowman .. contact - arroway father n daughter did much; the coopers do more this time .. gravity - the silence, peace, horror, 3-d spin in outer space .. event horizon, sunshine - a new visual depiction of what a wormhole, blackhole and event horizon is to the human eye best movie 2014 for me. 4.5/5. enjoy a lot more in dtshdma! ![]() |

More for its pace than anything else. But having a daughter myself about the same age as Murph, this movie made me cried, despite my best attempt to suppress it. At some point of the movie the pace, and background of earth's ending environmental problem and food shortage etc started to make the movie depressing. Luckily the ending was the opposite. Concept of Relativity was applied extensive in this film, which made the core reason for the tragedy. Some part of which is so abstract that, to make it visually on the screen is almost next to impossible (Not going to give any spoiler on which scenes). Nonetheless, the good thing about this film is that the focus of the film is very human, about loss and near miss in live, and about regrets. Luckily its all been redeemed in the end. Watching the film in its full glory in an IMAX cinema is a must. One problem though, I think the movie soundtrack is sub-par. Which is a shame considering that fact that it has all the ingredient for human epic, grandios special effect and scenery. My rating would be 4/5. |

Jupiter Ascending is not a 'classic' but it warrants a place -solely cos its a slam bang actioneer wif Channing Tatum n a delectable Mila Kunis - supports frm newly crowned Eddie Redmayne [ wif Douglas Booth ] cant lift de story but - hell, its still gud fun..

I might shock a couple of people with my latest review....
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast Blu-ray (2015) Yes yes, laugh all you want. I was surprised myself when I read the reviews for this and in the reviews I read, it was highly recommended. Mind you, this is a direct to DVD program Part of John Lasseter's revamp when he was made the head of Disney animation. And this one is actually very VERY good. Musically amazing & the story is engaging, and very well told. They treated this like major cinema animation. I highly recommend this. To coin a phase of you young'un, I get more feels from this compared to the latest The Wachowski's work! Understand that this is just my personal opinion My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Mar 30 2015, 12:10 AM |

Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
My, has Uncle Owen (Joel Edgerton) - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), grown!!! Ridley Scott did no spare any expense making this movie. The production value for this movie is through the roof. The wardrobes, props, wigs etc are all as authentic as I imagine, being a fan of anything ancient Egypt (I watch all documentaries and book I can get my hands on, on that subject matter) After watching this, I am puzzled as to why it was ban in Malaysia!!! Anybody here know what the reason this movie it was banned? Casting, is interesting. From stars who are known around the world (Ben Kingsley, Christian Bale ect) to actors who is only known in their respective country (Joel Edgerton, Australia). Here lays one of the issue. For this to work, the two main characters Moses (Christian Bale) and Ramses (Joel Edgerton) has to have a love/hate relationship. This is where the movie fail to deliver. Also updating an iconic movie like The Ten Commandments (1956) (which was also a remake) you cannot help but compare, and anything you do differently will be much scrutinize. I understand that Ridley wanted to make this movie more inline with more up to date research, just does not hit the spot... The interaction between all the characters could have been much better. I have to say to me the biggest issue is Ramses (Joel Edgerton). I am not suggesting that Joel Edgerton is a bad actor. I am afraid his character is written poorly. Not at all like the Ramses in the Egyptian writing.... On a plus side, the sound is AMAZING!!!! To borrow a term from you young'uns, what hit me in the feels most is the "In Memory Of to Tony Scott" at the end... Done!! My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Mar 29 2015, 09:47 PM |

Furthermore, the whole movie appear to avoid direct God intervention in most of the so called Miracles, eg. he saw the Child when he was deep in mud ? In the Bible, that flaming bush appeared to have sounded the conversation. Not a child per se. Second, there was no apparent Parting of Red Sea that everyone can relate eg. the one from the original the Ten Commandment. The movie sort of using natural phenomenon to explain most of the Biblical Miracles if you noticed. Third, if I am not mistaken, that Ten Commandment was actually made by Moses in the dark, for, well, crowd Management purposes ? I could be wrong but I guess the above depiction may invite our authority's ban. This post has been edited by peter32: Mar 30 2015, 12:40 AM |

Yes, I believe Ridley as per mention in my post, choose the, God used nature to do his bidding route, which did not go well with most of the general public. As for the parting of the Red Sea vs Low Tide scene, I have read another intriguing school of thought on that subject matter. I would prefer not to mention here. Do not want to start a riot, by reiterating what I have read. If anyone is interested just pm me. Thanks for the reply again and take care This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Mar 31 2015, 01:47 PM |

this is probably the best korean movie in a long time. admiral roaring currents is now the top grossing movie in korea for all time. based on a 1597 naval battle, stars veteran choi min-sik. a war tale of courage, leadership and inspiration.
i rank it at the same level as john woo's red cliff. 4/5. ![]() |

Seventh Son (2014)
Why oh why oh why-o.... Why are movies like this made?!!! If they had USD 95,000,000 to throw down the drain, throw it my way!!! Why is wrong with this movie?? Let me count the ways 1) Jeff Bridges is a pretty good actor. Why is he "channeling" Sean Connery here (accent). Terrible, just TERRIBLE!! After R.I.P. and now this?? Shame on you Jeff, SHAME ON YOU!!! 2) Julianne Moore (Dragon/Witch Queen)... Really??!? Seriously???? 3) Kit Harington.... He did not even GET the chance to show his abs!!! ( 4) Ben Barnes (Tom Ward) grew up as a farmer (pig feeder) but after been "procured" by Jeff Bridges (Master Gregory) he is able to easily read ancient text and scroll.... Which farmer in ancient time did THAT!!!!! 5) I know I am cheesy... But this movie TAKES the CAKE!! Talk about cheesy dialog... And many MANY more... Hollywood, in the future, if you have 95 million to pour down the drain, call me, okay?? My Two Sen. |

With Marvel in the limelight now, DC's material are always overlook.
Which is a shame. Yes, DC has dropped the ball, and have to add, they do have worthy material left to be explored. Case in point, Batman Vs Robin (2015) Oh My Goodness. Is this a heavy storyline!! Yes, this is the continuation of The Son Of Batman (2014). I would never had thought amputating kid appendages and fitting dangerous prosthetic on them would be so graphically shown... Also the stoic humor between Batman/Bruce Wayne and Robin/Damien is actually amusing... Say what you want about DC, when it comes to their animated stuff, they do push the envelope (eg they do not think only kids watch animation). This movie explores the father/son further. Also the mantel of robin (Dick Greyson and Damien) has so many levels yet to be explored.... I love this I love this I love this!!! My Two Sen |

![]() The Counterfeiters (2007) A German movie about a notorious forger during the 2nd world war era, happened to be a Jew and was sent to the Concentration Camp during the war. He was designated to help producing fake currency notes for the Nazis, aimed to destabilise the enemy countries' economy. It was based on a real story, and its a rather captivating film to watch. As it turned out, this was the largest counterfeiting Operative in the history of mankind. I like the grain of the movies, the pace is fast, and the somehow, the SS army personnel aura, brutality and their demeanor is very convincing. Jews being jew, the centre figure was also a great counterfeiter, who even managed to pass his fake note through the Bank of England ! A great Drama for me for sure. I would give it a 8/10. |

american sniper is based on a book, directed by clint eastwood.
QUOTE American Sniper is a 2014 American biographical war drama film[6] directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Jason Hall. It is based on the book American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History (2012) by Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. The film follows the life of Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense. i did not find it that good. not as action stylish as black hawk down and not as nail biting as zero dark thirty. great audio with dobly digital truehd. fine movie to watch, overall, 3/5. ![]() |

The Boy Next Door (2015)
It actually started out decent. Premise was good, and the first act worked. In the spirit of Fatal Attraction (1987)/The Hands That Rock The Cradle (1992) (eg. thriller) And then something strange happened... Noah Sandborn (Ryan Guzman) had to portray a "villain"... I don't think his acting skills is there yet.... The script after the first act, was not very sure how to deliver!?!... And that is not the good sign. So much so that when the end credits roll, you go, meh.... Also interesting that Kristin Chenoweth took such a small role. My Two Sen |

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014)
Let's cut through the chase, this is not a fantastic movie. There really isn't much here that the last two installments have not done. To top it off the reason for the movie is so weak and pointless.... Shame on you Ben Stiller, for doing this... Also shame on Ben Kingsley for being part of this... It was also difficult to see Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney and know this movie is their last. R.I.P. guys. My Two Sen |

Mortdecai (2015)
Can you try to write a clever/charming/delightful script and end up with the opposite? The answer is yes, yes you can. Here is a fine example, Mortdecai (2015)! It is so clever, that is is stupid, unfunny and another waste of production fund... It is uninspired work by Johnny Depp trying his best to out Mr Bean, Mr Bean... Tedious, really... Paul Bettany, for some odd reason tried to channel Jason Statham. Ewan McGregor & Gwyneth Paltrow roles are superfluous... The result, this USD 60 million movie, only made USD 7,605,668 in the States... Sometimes, numbers do not lie. My Two Sen. This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 3 2015, 11:05 PM |

Taken 3 (2014)
When the 1st Taken (2008) came out, it was fresh. An all american girl on an Europe tour gets caught up with a bad crowd and her BAD ass father comes to her rescue. The bad guys, English human trafficker and Middle East super rich!! The general public was taken aback by it, and it was very well received. I still use the gun sound scene as reference material for sound systems. Fast forward 6 years and now we have Taken 3... Do the general public still amour? In short now... The premised is now jaded In the first movie, Stuart St John (Xander Berkeley) was a decent guy. Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) used ALL his resource to investigate him. But in Taken 3, to make the character less generic and more "sexy", the recast Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible 2) as Stuart St. John. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The payback is also circumspect.... In the first, is was an All American Sweetheart, and now, it is a "Oh Uh, I am a teenage mom" This movie in my opinion should have remained at 1. I know recycling is good for the environment, but seriously Hollywood, Staph!!!! My Two Sen. |

Swiss Family Robinson (1960)
Gosh what a blast from the past. Interesting that there were several attempts to give this movie a do over, and each time, the project fell through. Watching this as grand as it is, there are alot of occidental-centric mindset that would not fare well with more modern audience. Let's chalk it up to in 1960, they did not know better. Great location. Great cast. A really good family fare movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon. My Two Sen |

Captain America (1990)
Before Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002). Before Tim Story's Fantastic Four (2005). Before 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, Production company: Marvel Entertainment Group Jadran Film did this QUOTE Captain America is a 1990 direct-to-video American-Yugoslavian superhero film directed by Albert Pyun. The film is based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. While the film takes several liberties with the comic's storyline, it features Steve Rogers becoming Captain America during World War II to battle the Red Skull, being frozen in ice, and subsequently being revived to save the President of the United States from a crime family that dislikes his environmentalist policies. Excerpt from WikipediaIt is CAMP. Everything is straight out of the comic book. No denying. But it was done with the best intention. Made with a budget of 10 Million (bared in mind, back then Tim Burton's Batman (1989) cost 50 million), and it is amazing what they were able to squeeze out of that budget. Matt Salinger played a decent Captain America. Got a kick out of watching this all over again!! Roger Corman even made a 1994 The Fantastic Four movie that was never released... as well, and I have not been able to see that... Let us all pray to the bluray god and see if THAT ever see the light of day. My Two Sen. This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 9 2015, 07:55 PM |

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)
Frankly, I did not know what to expect from this movie. An Iranian movie, with Persian dialog?? Okay... First impression, the movie started and... it is in black and white... okay... Ana Lily Amirpour work is an amalgamation between Neill Blomkamp and Quentin Tarantino... with an added dash of Parisan influence... Am I making sense? This is a fine FINE movie. With alot of dark humor. Well cast and scripted and an excellent delivery. Did I mention this is a vampire movie?? I love this, I love this, I love this!! Watch it already why don't you. Her next movie, The Bad Batch is suppose to have Jason Momoa, Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves... Now THAT is one movie I cannot wait to see. My Two Sen |

2 excellent movies in 1080p dts 5.1.
ex-machina is a thought provoking syfy-psycho techno thriller. great ideas, tight script and brilliant performances by the 3 core actors. the show will have you riveted to the seat with moments of chilling terror towards the end. 4/5. ![]() wolf totem (the last wolf) is a unique movie about the real story of a student and wolves in inner mongolia. impressive cinematography of the grasslands, hills and lakes, and superb work with wolves, horses, dogs and sheep. the theme is more environmental than anything and somehow reminds you of princess mononoke and avatar. the film was offered to peter jackson to make but was eventually made by jean-jacques annaud. 3.5/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: May 17 2015, 02:12 AM |

black hat in 1080p dts 5.1 is not bad. it got poor ratings but i quite enjoyed it. actor performances are not great even with chris hemsworth (thor) but i thought there was enough techno suspense and cops-n-robbers action to make it a decent cyber crime-thriller. directed by michael mann (last of the mohicans, heat), it takes you to hong kong, perak (where u get to see the some ugly tin mines landscape), jakarta. and i thought the attempt to explain computer worms and hacking in a movie was quite done well. 3/5.

Another 2 new good 1080p dts 5.1 movies:
Kingsman is a refreshing movie. Stylish, action packed, light humor. Neither James Bond nor Johnny English, it is highly entertaining. Familiar faces include Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Mark Strong and Samuel Jackson. 3.5/5. ![]() The Taking of Tiger Mountain is Tsui Hark's latest production. Same good action stuff that he usually delivers, like in Detective Dee or Seven Swords. The most notable thing about this movie is it must have been hard to make - rugged mountains and snow throughout the show. Stars Zhang Hanyu (Song Jiang in latest Water Margin TV series) and Tony Leung Ka-Fai. 3.5/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: May 23 2015, 01:14 AM |

Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)
This is a good example of why sequels should not be make. Don't get me wrong. The people involved really wanted to make a good movie, and the opposite is produced instead. Being a 1986 movie, the effects were pretty good. In a round about way H. R. Giger was involved with the production design (ghost/demon design, he sent an assistant). The downside, story people. The story is... bad. Nothing gel. Seriously. Nothing!! Don't even get me started on the medium and Shaman/Medicine man... So, in summary, decent effect, bad story even worst editing... Guess what this movie made money... So much so there is a Poltergeist III... I kid you not... My Two Sen |

Was actually free to do a movie marathon this weekend.
George Lucas, in 2008, actually said he would make Indiana Jones 5, if he figures out the McGuffin ([A term famously coined by Hitchcock] a device or plot element. In the first, it was the Ark of the Covenant, second the Sankara Stones, the third Holy Grail and the fourth *groan*, crystal skulls...). So, I actually watched these movies in the reverse order, namely, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The last Crusade etc, etc. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) Hahahaha... Think about THAT!! This ia exactly the reason, why Hollywood is obsess with sequel, rather then developing new/original stuff. Guaranteed return of investment. Having re-watched the movie, it is actually a "decent" movie, and I believe the main criticism, and rightly so, is the McGuffin of the movie is actually weak... That means I actually appreciate 50% of the movie! Also sad that with Shia LaBeouf running his mouth after the movie, how the baton/mantel of Indiana Jones is now passed to him and he would be the next Indiana Jones... Steven Spielberg apparently blow at Shia LeBeouf after that. I actually like the idea (passing the baton) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) Have to say, this is probably my favorite "episode" of the series. They just do not make anything like this anymore. Right mixture of story/humor/action and of cause, CAST (Sean Connery)!!! Again being made most practical, also adds to it's charm. (The worst thing about Crystal Skull is the CGI work on the man eating ants sequence) As I said, they don't make it like that anymore. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) The darkest of the Series! The MPAA was troubled by this movie, and actually suggested that they would give it an "R" rating... Because it was too dark for the PG rating... Steven Spielberg called the President of MPAA and suggested a rating between PG and R and PG13 rating was born a few weeks later. It's all about the people you know!! Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) I am keeping this for another day. Will update one I have watched it. I am wondering, are there actually people on this forum who had not watched this series before? My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 31 2015, 07:48 PM |

Since then I tend to believe that Raider's was and is easily the best thing that could happen to a cinema. This nonstop action type of movie making, was believably its first which appear in a Hollywood made blockbuster, by passing the usual slow-mo introductory segment which always appeared in many adventures and disaster movies of late 70's and early 80's. So till this day, I have watched Raider's ( much lesser for its 2nd and third Indiana Jones series) at least easily 10 times through the years. After my exposure to Medieval History, Christianity, the romance of the Holy Grail (from various researcher and their writings), the romance of the Medieval Secret Society (eg. the Illuminati etc), Raider's of the lost ark suddenly became very appealing, from the way it was depicted, fought over (by the Nazi's, which was apparently real after watching some of the National Geographics Documentaries), and not to mention Steven Spielberg's idiosyncratic movie making talents. Again the music by John Williams played a major role too to keep the movies memorable. If you really like the romance of the Holy Grail, the Ark of Covenant and its related historical facts or legends, some recent TV series does have some part of this. The most recent one was the Curse Of Oak Island from the Discovery Channel. ps: I watch the Crystal Skull in the Cinema, and perhaps, thats all I ever watch on that. I still have the other three movies in my collection as I speak. |

After the 1990s (namely The Last Crusade), many an author had wrote works that has surpassed what Steven Spielberg/George Lucas's Indiana Jones. One that comes to mind are works from Matthew Reilly's Jack West Jr Series (the first being Seven Ancient Wonders) So with expectations so high, there is really no way for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to go, but down... Yes, Discovery and Nat Geo has some great documentaries. Personally, I am not a big fan of Curse of Oak Island (reality series barely live up to their name. Everything is hyped to sell the show). They have their viewers, for sure, and have to add I am not one of them. Speaking of Nazis, I was also watching the 2002 Twilight Zone. S01E05 Cradle of Darkness... In the future, they sent a young woman back to the birth place of Braunau am Inn, in 1889, to murder the baby Adolf before he kills millions in WWII... The ending is... most surprising... |

2 light movies to suggest, both 3/5.
danny collins is a touching, fun comedy-drama. i usually do not watch such movies but as a huge fan of al pacino, i had to watch. ![]() parallels is a low budget almost amateurish production but is enticing, keeps you interested. if you like the excellent syfy tv series fringe, you will like this. in fact, it comes across as inspired by fringe with the guys in black suits, black hats and big guns appearing at the end. a sequel is most likely as the story is just getting started. ![]() |

QUOTE(blackblackk @ Jun 24 2015, 11:19 PM) Just finish watching madmax too! The whole movie has voice filtered, sound so weird. Even Charlize Theron's voice became so manly.Every time Tom Hardy speaks, it reminds me of Bane from Batman. The rating is a bit overrated though. QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 7 2014, 08:44 PM) thanks for headsup. will check it out. din realize there is a 4th one! If you had notice the entertainment news today, Sony and Marvel just announced a joint venture reboot of Spiderman todaythe first one 1997 was excellent. i din like the 2nd and 3rd movies, can't remember much... also... amazing spiderman 2 is.... poor. 2/5. too long drawn with petty scenes,, little suspense. cg overdose, jamie foxx can't act or sound like a villain! while we can be sure there will be amazing spiderman3, i'm not looking forward to it given the first 2. i like the original spiderman1-2-3 trilogy 2002-2007 better. Yes you heard right, a REBOOT... |

QUOTE(sonerin @ Jun 25 2015, 05:09 PM) Yes...Apart from, James Bond, Spiderman is Sony's biggest franchise. The last reboot did not make as much as the original trilogy. So instead of surrendering the movie rights back to Marvel/Disney and Marvel/Disney is desperate to have Spidey back in their "universe" Sony and Marvel had come o an understanding Supposedly, the "new" Spiderman will make his first appearance in Captain America Civil War (They originally wanted him to make an appearance in the 2nd Avengers, but could come to an agreement in time. They JUST announce the new actor playing Spidey today, Tom Holland, best know for his work as the eldest son in the movie The Impossible. So next year we will see the new Spidey in Captain America Civil War and the year after that a new Spiderman movie Clear as mud?? |

QUOTE(sonerin @ Jun 25 2015, 08:58 PM) The way I see it Marvel/Disney is not hoping that Fox reboot of Fantastic Four and XMen Apocalypse performs poorly at the bx office, so they can persuade Fox to return the movie property to them...I am actually fearful of Fantastic Four. What I understand from the movie so far is TERRIBLE (Jamie Bell, The Thing... Really??)!!! |

QUOTE(chokia @ Jun 26 2015, 04:54 PM) What's the minimum Internet speed to be able to watch and torrenting at the same time? Normal torrent download part by part from overall video. Is the stream and torrenting run in separate task or is it stream and also save what you already watched in hard drive? BTW, today watched Run all Night. Not bad and it can keep me in my seat until finish. |

wolf warriors is a jacky wu jing directed and acted war action movie. somewhat oversimplified with a loose plot, but it carries enough action and entertainment. 3/5.
it takes an idea from saving private ryan and another from behind enemy lines. we wish jacky wu a successful film directing career! ![]() |

QUOTE(kiritoffx @ Jun 27 2015, 12:47 PM) no need to stream torrent go to this site yify.tv Thank you for your recommendation. I'll try it later. Is it the same release for yify torrent rip group? For torrent version, their rip was a too compressed to me. I prefer video which size around 4-5gb for 720p video and with 6 channel Ac3 audio. I have to skip DTS because my HTIB only can receive dolby through spdif output.this site all 720/1080 quality movies. the best is that its player can add subtitle. u can get subtitle from Subscene Planning to watch interstellar in these few days. Okay... It's against the grain time...
Teen Beach 2 (2015) Okay. I sang the praises of Teen Beach Movie (2013) here. So does this live up to it's predecessor? The short answer is no... The first two arcs are shadows of it's former self. They tried hard. They really did, but they did not make them work... Characters that worked so effectively in the first, became OVERLY camp in this... Where in the first movie, alot of the songs worked, here things seemed a little forced... Here is the funny thing... The last arc (which is rather short) brought back the magic of the original movie... Which is frustrating!!! So, is it a total lost? No. And i have to add the third arc as interesting and "magically" as it is, is just too short. If you like the first movie, you are definitely going to like this... movie's... last arc... My Two Sen |

this, you gotta watch! 4.5/5.
furious 7 or fast and furious seven is excellent, more entertaining than ff5 and ff6 which are very good too. besides the usual cast, there is jason statham, kurt russell, tony jaa and djimon hounsou. everybody gets to do what they do best, plenty of adrenalin, screeching tires, bullets, grenades, missiles and drones. and you gotta watch it in dtshdma 5.1/7.1, superb audio effects. lastly, the film is dedicated to paul walker rip, whose brothers did some fill-ins which were hardly noticeable. film directed by james wan, a kuching sarawak born australian. ![]() big game is lightly entertaining, not very original, could have been better. but not too a bad movie for a dry season. 2.5/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Jul 26 2015, 05:26 PM |

Recently watched Insurgent and Big Hero 6. Both are really good movie.
Insurgent was good sequel. Now I'm really excited to wait another two sequel. Big Hero 6 really impress me. I have a low expectation and it really suprise me with the storyline and It's really make me sit tight until finish. It's really blown my perception this movie was for kid. |

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004)
I have always like this movie. Hands down on of Vince Vaughn better work. Also one of the best titled movie. The title really tells you what the whole movie is about. Great assemble, Christine Taylor, Ben Stiller, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Joel David Moore, Chris Williams, Alan Tudyk and etc. Even a special guest spot from David Hasselhoff & William Shatner. Rip Torn is especially great hee. The wizen/angry dodgeball couch for the average joe. Downside... Lance Armstrong's cameo.... I am not sure asbout you, I am just gonna sit back here and enjoy the rest of the movie. Perfect Sunday Afternoon. My Two Sen |

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) (The Rogue Cut)
Hello everyone. I managed to watch this over the weekend. I know that whenever X-Men is mentioned, alot of people roll their eyes and groan and point to X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and say that the franchise is a bad one. Now psychologist are actually saying that "Happiness is a choice" but I digress... I like X-Men: First Class (2011) alot. I like X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) even more!!!! When I heard about this cut (basically a director's cut), I wasn't sure how they would "fit" Rogue (the character) into the story-line. And after watching this version, the answer lays in "the future". Is this cut better compared to the theatrical version? My answer is, it makes more sense!! It is a tad longer compared with the theatrical cut, and have to add, not by too much. If you are like me, and enjoy the theatrical cut, you will enjoy this one!! Onward to X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) My Additional Two Sen |

Star Wars I, II, III, IV, V VI.
Took advantage of the long weekend to do a Star Wars marathon, to brush up on my Star Wars lore before the new chapters. Most of you would know by now that the 3 episodes made late 70s and early 80s are episodes after the ones made late 90s and early 00s. I wonder, are there people on this forum who had not watch the Star Wars series? Having a chance to watch them in their numeric sequence, I have to say the IV, V and VI are still my favorite episodes. Why? 1) The three main leads have such great chemistry (which episodes I, II and III lack). 2) Because of "lack" off funds, the IV, V and VI episodes had to solve specially effects issues more practically, therefore, the movies are more... "organic". It is obvious that Yoda in episodes V and IV is a puppet, and have to add, he is SO MUCH MORE LIKEABLE in those episodes. You actually "care" for him. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Having said the above, I am actually a skeptic about the new episodes. Even IV, V and VI had their inconsistencies (story wise), and after I, II and III their was much greater. Star Wars IV: The New Hope is a bright star in terms of movie from the 70s. The fact that it is still placed highly amongst movie goers highlight that. My concern is with every new episodes, that brightness seems to diminish... We shall all see, in the future no so far away. My first Star Wars (the very first Star Wars in Mid 70's), I had to line up long queue, in a cinema without Aircon. The line has to be managed by Policeman to prevent jump queue. It was full. So me and my brother had to sit apart to watch the movie.
AT that time the movie usually has Intermission Session for a few minutes to allow patrons to go to the toilet or buy food. It was wooden bench, yes. For some reason we didn't feel warm at all. |

There were a few movies that really had a strong impact on me when I was growing up in the 70s, namely
a) Star Wars b) Alien c) The Champ d) Snake in the Eagle Shadow (heeheehee, such a wow movie for an 8 yo) Perhaps I should revisit them this September during our public holidays. |

Innerspace (1987)
We often reminisce about the good old 80s and alot of times movies like: An American Werewolf in London (1981) Escape from New York (1981) 48 Hrs. (1982) Blade Runner (1982) Conan the Barbarian (1982) First Blood (1982) E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) Poltergeist (1982) Rocky III (1982) The Thing (1982) Krull (1983) The Outsiders (1983) WarGames (1983) Beverly Hills Cop (1984) Gremlins (1984) The Karate Kid (1984) The Last Starfighter (1984) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Police Academy (1984) The Terminator (1984) Back to the Future (1985) Commando (1985) Fright Night (1985) The Goonies (1985) Ladyhawke (1985) Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) Rocky IV (1985) Aliens (1986) Big Trouble in Little China (1986) Short Circuit (1986) Stand by Me (1986) Hellraiser (1987) Predator (1987) Die Hard (1988) Rambo III (1988) Rocky V (1990) But very rarely, do we think of this movie, which is a shame, because it is actually lots of fun. It is my belief that too many movies nowadays are just WAY to serious, and the reason why we remember movies from the 80s is because they have alot of great comedic moments. Case in point, in this movie when Martin Short was in the toilet, a total stranger told him "Play with it buddy, not talk to it..." and then walks out!! This is a Scifi/Action movie, starring Dennis Quaid, Martin Short & Meg Ryan. An experiment concerning miniaturization, recently made popular again by the movie Ant-man (2015). The premise of this movie is not new, a very similar movie was made in the 60s, namely Fantastic Voyage (1966). What is "new" about this movie compared with the 60s movie, is the slapstick!! (Martin Short) Again, because this is pre CGI, they had to rely on more practical effect for the effects short and to date, they still look pretty good! If you can find this, please give it a go. Blast from the Past (1999)
A bit of a trip down memory lane for me today. Something that is stuck on my mind. I like the premise of how would a 1960s guy, date a chick from the 1990s!! The answer? This movie. Just look at the dialogue!! Adam: "May I ask you a question?" Eve: "He's a former boyfriend. We lived together for about six months, and I still have sort of a thing for him. That's what you wanted to know isn't it?" Adam: "No, I was gonna ask you... Why Cliff likes to wear another man's underpants. [Ralph Lauren]" Brendan Fraser fresh from George Of The Jungle (1997) and Alicia Silverstone off the disastrous Batman & Robin (1997). They actually make a cute screen couple. Nathan Fillion plays a great @$$h0le. And the movie shows how versatile an actor Christopher Walken is. (He plays Brendan's father. Also great to see Sissy Spacek. (She plays Brendan's mother). Lastly Joey Slotnick as the goto weirdo!! If you like romantic comedy and you have not watched this, please do. My Two Sen. |

Hackers (1995)
Okay, this 1995 movie is about... hackers. More specifically, the world of hackers. To be fair, Iain Softley the director, tried to make it interesting and involving. Look at the names attached to the project: Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary anyone?) Angelina Jolie (Don't call me Mrs Brad Pitt) Jesse Bradford (I cannot get a job after Flags of Our Fathers (2006)) Matthew Lillard (Hey Shaggy, where's Scoob?!!) Marc Anthony (Ex Mr Jennifer Lopez) Penn Jillette (Yes, of Penn and Teller) The computer world in 1995 is still shrouded in mystery. Internet was still in it's infancy. All the right elements to make an intriguing movie? YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!! All the computer graphic pulled off in the hacking are being enabled by 512k dial up line.... Wow.... The suppositions they made are all off. The more cool and hip they tried to make the world of hackers looks, the more miserable they fail. An who ever did the make up and wardrobe for Angelina Jolie should be shot. Can you say HORRENDOUS!!!! So, do yourself a favour, give this a miss. I am doing this so you don't have to... My Two Sen. The Spy Next Door (2010)
Jackie Chan's attempt to make American movie and it is.... Terrible!! Bad story, poor casting helpless direction!!! Absolutely zero chemistry between any of the actors!! Jackie has to learn American audiences do not want to see their resource (American Woman) being "pillaged" by a China man. I believe he has. He had stopped making "American-centric" movies. Interestingly, Vin Diesel in The Pacifier (2005) did much MUCH better in term of box office, shares almost the same storyline. Again, I repeat, American do not WANT a china man to "pillage" their natural resource... My Two Sen. |

I watched Kill Me Three Times. For an Australian movie, its pretty good. Picture was excellent showing beautiful wide open scenes of Australia and sound is very good too, in DTS if I remember right.
The movie is light hearted in a way but surprisingly it has some gory scenes, almost Tarantino like. Oh and it has the beautiful Teresa Palmer whose eyes are just so mesmerizing. I enjoyed this movie. 4/5 Btw I also watched Muzi v Nadeji a few weeks ago. Again beautiful PQ and Sound. I like this sexy comedy a lot and wonder if anyone can recommend me similar foreign movies (as in not Hollywood production) Thanks |

Computers… Hackers… Woohoo” but I never watched the movie, even until now. The only thing that made me remember this movie is the 2 main lead getting married and split up within a year or a two, I think. It was headline news back then. |

I also remember wanting to get the LD version of the movie, Predator and I remember it was going for RM299 and I didn't get it. That’s a huge sum of money back in those days, well, given the current situation of our money value, I guess it is now too. 4 years! I would have thought it was just 2, at most, considering Angelina. Guess what, I rewatched the trailer and even then, I had a good laugh, I’m definitely giving this one a miss. |

Helios 赤道 (2015)
Well, this is an interesting movie. A collaboration between, China, HK and Korea. The premise is what would Hong Kong and China do, to stop Hong Kong from being and underground arms dealing center. Nuclear arms at that. Script is ambitious. Casting is good. Everyone does their bit, the Koreans are the "action" heroes, and Chinese the intellectual and Hong Kee everything between!! Not going to spoil this for you if you have not watch. The ending is actually quite original! My Two Sen |

I watched two old movies last few days -
Tom Clancy's Patriot Games and Clear & Present Danger I thought I watched both before but then I realized I don't recall watching Patriot Games at all. The PQ is not as good as current Blurays but the 5.1 tracks are ok. The opening theme music for Patriot Games is especially interesting and suspenseful. Further into the credits then realized its music by James Horner. No wonder. Anyway enjoyed both even though it's dated. Harrison Ford, James Earl Jones and Samuel L Jackson look so young compare to now This post has been edited by idoblu: Sep 13 2015, 11:02 AM |

The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened? (2015)
Well! What a documentary. I remember when this was announced, I went, Nicholas Cage??? SUPERMAN??!!?? Really? I was a skeptic That movie never got made. As they were gearing up to shot it, Warner Brothers pulled the plug. Reason, during that period Warner's had a string of failure. What Strings of failure? Batman and Robin Steel Fire Down Below Etc Etc... So, the sacrificial lamb was this movie. Now after watching this documentary and seeing what Tim Burton had planned, I would actually paid good money to watch this!!! Man Of Steel actually took some concepts from this production. Very informative documentary. Watch it is you are a fan of Superman. My Two Sen |

Knight and Day (2010)
In 2005, on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tom Cruise did his famous (or infamous) jumping up and down on a couch declaring his love for Katie Holmes. On August 22, 2006, Paramount Pictures announced it was ending its 14-year relationship with Cruise. (Tom Cruise and partners, Paramount claimed, were getting to much from the DVD sales of the Mission Impossible franchise) On the heels of the above, remember the movie Salt (2010) with Angelina Jolie? Her role was originally written for a guy, and Tom Cruise was supposedly signed on for the movie as that male lead. That deal fell apart for Tom, and he ended up doing this movie, with Cameron Diaz. I like the script, clever, fun, light and situation comedy/action flick. Not sure if the executing is perfect. Tom "starlight" in my opinion was at his lowest, and I feel they hope that this would revived that. I feel that it is a little forced. The whole movie. Cameron Diaz made a name for herself in movies like The Mask (1994) and There's Something About Mary (1998). The reason she made her name was that in those movies, she plays the ingenue (well at least on the surface). She was supposed to repeat that role in this movie and alas, she no longer was the ingenue (sad but true)... There are enough things here to make you sit through the whole movie, and have to add, not Tom Cruise best work! |

John Williams Celebration (2015) There is no denying, in modern cinema, many a blockbuster, would be greatly different, if John Williams, was NOT the composer behind the movie. Think about it. Star Wars! Superman Jaws Raiders of the Lost Ark Schindler's List (Probably my favourite) Etc, etc, etc This concert took place this year at the Disney Concert Hall (I think it used to be called The Kodak Theater, I could be wrong). Very good concert. I did find the sound recording a little muted, compared with my Keeping Score collection (San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra). But with the program like below... Full Music Program Olympic Fanfare and Theme Three Pieces from Schindler’s List Cadenza and Variations from Fiddler on the Roof “Soundings” “Escapades” from Catch Me If You Can “Throne Room and Finale” from Star Wars “Dry Your Tears, Afrika” from Amistad “Imperial March” from The Empire Strikes Back John Williams himself came down from his seat to conduct the last piece, and they have Storm Troopers marching in at the end!! Storm Trooper, in the Disney Concert Hall, when will we ever... wait, Disney now owns Lucas Arts, so alot of times in the future I bet!! I like this. If you like orchestra music, give this a swirl!! Daredevil (2003)
Am gearing up for Batman Vs Superman, so decided to revisit this. I believe Ben Affleck received alot of... flak (??) for his portrayal of Matt Murdoch/Daredevil and in my opinion, I don't think he is THAT bad. The movie is decent. The action sequences are quite well done. I actually like Colin Farrell as Bullseye. He looks the part!! They pay alot of homage to the comic book. The only thing that I can see that rubs people the wrong way is the Daredevil/Elektra relationship. I believe that 20th Century Fox has lost the movie rights to this property, and it has reverted back to Marvel/Disney. And to add to this the TV series is actually quite good. Let;s see if we get more of Daredevil in the cinemas in the near future. My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Sep 25 2015, 12:52 PM |

san andreas... one of the most visually stunning films i've ever watched. almost like one of those roland emmerich disaster movies but better.
simple lousy story with dwayne johnson but the visuals and special effects hit you again and again. best watched in dd truehd or dd atmos - great audio! ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Sep 28 2015, 06:40 PM |

terminator genisys is not as good as i want it to be. the story is a little "loose", definitely not as tight as T1, T2 or T3. many scenes try to bring back the old scenes from the trilogy. this movie has no link to terminator salvation at all.
visually, not exceptional but dolby truehd audio is excellent - will test yr home theater with the big booms and low bass. schwarzenegger is definitely too old for another T movie. emilia clarke (mother of dragons in game of thrones) does a fair job of sarah connor. jai courtney and jason clarke.. ordinary performances. 3/5. but a must for T fans. |

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
One of my favorite horror movie. It shows that horror movies can also be funny. Before you run out and get this, please understand that it is VERY RACY and is most definitely not suitable for young children. Having said that, anyone here been to England, and can vouch that nurses in England are like Nurse Alex Price? What do I mean? Prim Proper, Naughty nurse?? John Landis more know for comedy rather then horror. After he finished The Blues Brothers and made a name for himself, Unviersal/Polygram Picture greenlit this and gave him a budget of 10 million. When he first conceive the movie, and found out that there was alot of incentive for movie makers to make movies in England, he went okay werewolf in London, done. He then ask Rick Baker, if the transformation sequence can be done and Rick Said, he would think about it. When he called Rick and said he had the budget, Rick was already working on The Howling (1981)!!! John had a few choice words which he shared with Rick and Rick said, okay I was get my protege to work on The Howling (I will consult) which will free me up to do your movie. And thank goodness for THAT!! I also love the special feature. I did not know alot about this movie, namely » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If you want a funny funny horror movie, look no further. Enjoy My Two Sen |

Watched Spooks last night, I would rate it at 3.5/5.
In the opening scene, the convoy transfering a terrorist was stuck in a traffic jam, being attacked, and the terrorist escaped. This will not happen in Malaysia. Even common criminals when being transferred from Sungai Buloh Prison to the court in the morning are escorted by outriders, never get stuck in traffic jam. ![]() |

after a long wait, SPL2: A Time for Consequences is here.
SPL2 has nothing to do with SPL but is an action-crime thriller. starring tony jaa, wujing, simon yam, louis koo and a couple other good fighters. the story is a little far fetched, the fighting sequences not as tight as SPL. still, plenty of hard core fights, touching moments thai style to keep you entertained for 2 hrs. probably the best martial arts-fighting movie in a long time. 4/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Oct 11 2015, 12:01 AM |

Pixels (2015)
Apart from Hotel Transylvania, I am afraid I am not impressed by any movies with Adam Sandler as the main character (his movie the past few years). When I found out about this movie, I kinda like the "concept" and when I see Adam Sandler is the leads, I went, nahhhhh..... Got the chance to watch it during the weekend and it is ... entertaining!! The Good Sean Bean did not die! Peter Dinklage plays a mitch (a term I learnt from Trevor Noah) As kiddish as the premise is when the Centipede and Pac Man sequences happened, they were exciting!! English references, from Tiny Tim (after Adam Sandler destroyed the last Centipede) to Benny Hill (special features only). Michelle Monaghan in her military whites. *Woof* The Taj Mahal's destruction. Finally, when the world is on the brink of destruction from Aliens invasion, not only American monuments are destroyed. The creator of Pac Man (Toru Iwatani) made a cameo. The Bad The Americans making fun of the English's English language.... *Sigh* Kevin James plays the president... (Adam Sandler does this alot in his movies. Is he expressing the declining standards of the Presidency? Not sure if he is THAT clever or otherwise) The Ugly The Martha and Serena sandwich... What the... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yes, the critics in America we not kind to this movie. I for one think that they were too critical when reviewing this movie. I found it entertaining My Two Sen. |

Please bare in mind when this was done, the thinking was satellite "communication" was THE BOMB!! Note that Malaysia was paid the Americans an obscene amount of money to show the Americans is digital broadcast through satellite is viable. Back then because of "limited" bandwidth, the keyword is compression. Now-a-days, it is huh? Done already? (Er... everywhere else except for here... I actually like this movie when it first came out, because from the technological stand point. CD-Roms, only one scene with a "smart" phone and they used flat panel TV in the movie extensively and this was when flat panel TV we EXTREMELY expensive. The hook for the movie is technology company is spying on you... With Tim Robbins plays a "Steve Job-ish" character. So watching this movie now, how prophetic the movie has turned out. Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Google being the main culprit, and not to mention the American government... Kinda think about it, any government really... In a movie, all is well when the truth is made know to the world... Alas, in the really world... *Sigh* If you have not watched this, give it a go. I promise you, you will say to your self, "This would be SO much easier, if they had a smartphone", at more then one scene. My Two Sen. |

it builds up slow and steady, and ends with a terrifying shocker. low budget, not too much action buts does keeps you going, what comes next. |

Fantastic Four (2015)
This bombed at the box office. And here's why... Ronna Kress (Casting By) should be hung, for putting this cast together. Pre-Disney Marvel sold the movie license to major studios 20th Century Fox Fantastic Four: Doctor Doom/Victor von Doom, Human Torch/Johnny Storm, Invisible Woman/Susan Storm, Mr. Fantastic/Dr. Reed Richards, The Thing/Ben Grimm, Nova/Frankie Raye, Alicia Masters, Willie Lumpkin X-Men Mutants: [Agent Zero/Maverick/David North], Angel/Warren Worthington III, Arclight/Phillippa Sontag, Beast/Dr. Henry Phillip “Hank” McCoy, [Blob/Frederick J. Dukes], [Bolt/Christopher Bradley], Callisto, Colossus/Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin, Cyclops/Scott Summers, [Deadpool/Wade Wilson], Emma (Grace) Frost, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Juggernaut/Cain Marko, Gambit/Remy LeBeau, Glob Herman/Herman Gardner, Iceman/Bobby Drake, Jubilee/Jubilation Lee, Katherine “Kitty” Anne Pryde, [Kestrel/John Wraith], Lady Deathstrike/Yuriko Oyama, Leech, Magneto/Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, Mastermind/Jason (Wyngarde), Multiple Man/James Arthur Madrox, Mystique/Raven Darkholme, Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner, Phat/William Robert “Billy-Bob” Reilly, Professor Charles Xavier, Psylocke/Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock, Pyro/St. John Allerdyce, Quill/Max Jordan, Rogue/(Anna) Marie, Sabretooth/Victor Creed, Sebastian Hiram Shaw, [Silver Fox], Siryn/Theresa Rourke Cassidy, (The) Spike, Storm/Ororo Munroe, Wolverine/Logan X-Men Non-Mutants: Drake Family (Steven, Madeline, Ronny), Grey Family (Dr. John, Elaine), Henry Peter Gyrich, Robert Edward Kelly, Dr. Moira Kinross MacTaggert, Dr. Kavita Rao, William Stryker, Bolivar Trask, Warren Worthington II Universal Pictures The Incredible Hulk (2008) Sony Pictures Spider-Man: Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Doctor Octopus/Otto Octavius, Green Goblin/Norman Osborn, (New) Green Goblin/Harry Osborn, [The Lizard]/Dr. Curt Connors, Sandman/Flint Marko, Venom/Eddie Brock Jr., Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, Black Cat/Felicia Hardy, Silver Sable, Electro/Max Dillon, Rhino, Carnage/Cletus Kasady, Sinister Six, Shocker, Chameleon, The Gentleman, Dr. Ashley Kafka, Beetle, Betty Brant, Dennis Carradine (Buglar), J. Jonah Jameson, Ben Parker, May Parker, John Jameson, Joseph “Robbie” Robertson, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, Mendel Stromm, Flash Thompson, Allistair Smythe, Spider-Slayers, Miles Warren/Jackal Newline Blade What I understand from the deals are that if the above companies do not do anything with the movie property after a few years, Marvel/Disney get the movie rights back. After this movie, I forsee the movie right for Fantastic Four revert back to Marvel/Disney. Back to the movie They changed the origins At least the origins I am familiar with. (Closer to the Fantastic Four (2005)) I know the comics had been reboot, so maybe their followed the newly reboot origins and have to add, it is NOT good. The movie tried really REALLY hard to be cool and there lays the biggest probably, in trying so hard to BE cool, the opposite is was achieve. After the accident that produced their powers, they were brought to Area 57 (Alaska?) Again, not sure if this is in the new comics, after they got their powers, the military tried to weaponized them?... (How very American) *Sigh* Oh, another troubling issue with the movie, you know you are in trouble when you "care" more bout the main bad guy Victor Von Doom / Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell) then you do the main good guy Reed Richards (Miles Teller). Again casting issue, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm / The Thing?? Come on??!? This is BAD!! REALLY REALLY BAD!! You have to see it to believe it... My Two Sen |

fans of ghost in the shell would have watched at least the 4 episodes of the recent remake of ghost in the shell: arise. tv series.
now, the first movie is out - ghost in the shell: new movie. good movie. while the animation is not as detailed as the original trilogy movies, it is very stylish and good in story content - AI, cyber-terrorism in a futuristic world filled with prosthetics, cyborgs and "ghosts". as a prequel, major kusanagi is younger, sports blue hair and wears a read suit, has her usual team of batou, togusa, ishikawa, saito, boma and of course, logicoma. and as a prequel, it ends precisely at the point where the first movie, ghost in the shell 2.0 began. excellent audio with dolby truehd. a must for ghost in the shell fans, 4/5. and after almost a decade, i am still waiting for steven spielberg to make a live action movie of it! 3 movies for yr consideration...
mission impossible: rogue nation is good, as good as ghost protocol. tom cruise plays ethan hunt as good as ever. jeremy renner, ving rhames and alec baldwin supporting. action is good, the soundtrack in dolby truehd/atmos is excellent. 3.5/5. ![]() no escape is worth watching in that the terror and horror can be real, more so when it is filmed in a se asian country (can't tell exactly which one but likely shot in thailand-cambodia-laos). stars owen wilson and pierce brosnan. 3/5. ![]() the golden cane warrior or pendekar tongkat emas is an indonesian martial arts film. while it is nowhere near raid redemption and raid 2, it is heartening to see more martial arts movies coming out of indonesia. the story is simple and is probably inspired by china's wuxia-kungfu-shaolin genre but is worth watching. pretty good fighting sequences in an indonesian setting. most impressive is the cast is all indonesian, some showing great potential for future martial arts films. 3/5. jurassic world is a bit of a let down in that it has hardly anything new to offer if you have watched the last trilogy. it comes across as more a less a remake of the original jurassic park although the story has nothing to do with it except for mention of in-gen and its founder john hammond.
still, it is fairly entertaining, good for kids and family especially those who have not watched the 1993 original. the cgi is fine but the dtshdma audio soundtrack is just average. 3/5. i am surprised by it achieving 3rd place ranking after avatar and titanic. QUOTE After a record-breaking opening weekend that had the film grossing $500 million worldwide, Jurassic World has generated over $1.6 billion in box office revenue, standing as the third highest-grossing film of all time without inflation adjustment, as well as the highest-grossing film of 2015. A sequel is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Nov 14 2015, 06:53 PM |

Ant-Man (2015)
After having a chance to re-watched this, I this it is one of this year's most fun movie (the other being Spy (2015)). The right balance of comedy and action, shame that it did not perform well in the States, though at the end the movie did suggest more, maybe in Captain American Civil Wars... Hm... If that it the only other appearance of Ant-Man, the American really don;t know a good thing when they see it (eg, now american flag waving in the wind, proudly... *Sigh*) Mov_freak's Ant-Man Reviews My Additional Two Sen |

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)
I was quite entertained by The Maze Runner. And I had a chance to watch the sequel to that today, and it is... surprisingly, blah... It is strange, alot happened, and you as an audience, just don't become... invested. What is even more puzzling, is you have to wait two year to see the conclusion. Disappointing.... My Two Sen. |

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) (Extended Edition)
As bloated as the thilogy are, the makers of this series feels that there is an appetite for an even longer version of this!! To read my original review, please goto: Mov_freak's Hobbit The Battle of Five Armies Review So is it worth putting your tushie through 2:44 minutes of a couch/chair to watch this?? You have to ask yourself, are you a true fan??? I for one thought that the Battle of Five Armies sequence is better flesh out. All of the 12 dwarves (as per coined by J.R.R. Tolkien) get their hero moments. The scene where all twelve dwarves rushed to Raven Top was quite spectacular!!! If you are a fan and/or a completist (I am guilty of both counts) you will watch this. Baahubali: The Beginning (2015)
Well, I am not Tamil/Hindi Film connoisseur, and have to add, this is... a fun movie. Having NOT watch to many Tamil/Hindi movie, I am not familiar with their beats, and the "surprises" were entertaining!! Anushka Shetty is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. The CGI effects are good. Note that this is a two parter, so if you (like me) want to know the ending... you have to wait until next year! Being the most expensive Tamil/Hindi movie, well... it shows. If you are like me, not familiar to Tamil/Hindi movie, this is an interesting change of cup of tea!! For those who are familiar with Tamil/Hindi movie, well, chances are you have already seen this!! |

8/10 - everything you need in a fight movie. the family/crew issues, the rise and fall. the training montage. very good movie. the surround sound kinda sucked. maybe its just the version i got? i was expecting to get more enveloped by the crowd. |

EVEREST is a good movie. based on a true account of the 1996 disaster.
star studded cast, many trained to speak "kiwi" and mountain climbing. while 5 climbers died in the real 1996 incident, 16 sherpa guides were killed during the 2014 filming of this movie. film shot in nepal, alps and iceland. highly recommended. 4/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: Dec 14 2015, 02:20 PM |

My Fair Lady (1964)
The 60s is probably the last decade that Hollywood is able to produce good "period" movies. What I mean if this movie is made today, however expensive the costume and set pieces are, there would definitely a noticeable "fakeness" to the movie. My opinion. For those who did not know, this movie was based on a successful Broadway show. In the Broadway version, Rex Harrison plays Professor Higgins and Julie Andrews, Ms Eliza Doolittle. In the movie, Audrey Hepburn was cast as Ms Eliza Doolittle. Julie Andrews supposedly "threw a few tantrums" but then, she got the Mary Poppins role instead, and she won best Actress for THAT role!! (in the same year) So, what is this movie about? Ms Eliza Doolittle is a poor street side flower girl. One rainy night, she had a chance encounter with Professor Higgins, who publicly humiliate her had announce that if he has 6 months with her, he could teach her the Queens English so well, that he can bring her to the Embassy Ball and pass her off as a Duchess! On hearing this, Ms Eliza Doolittle, visited the professor in the morning, asking to be a student of his, to improve her spoken language. A house guest of Professor Higgins, an old Colonel Hugh Pickering, intrigue by the prospect, offered to pay for her lesson! So bring on the montage of the lessons and... do you think she can do it (eg pass as a Duchess at the Embassy Ball) Highlight » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If that kind of language shocked the "polite" society back then, I wonder when modern English in an TV Series nowadays would do the the said "polite society"!!! Give it a try, why don't you. My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Dec 14 2015, 08:02 PM |
