i actually now watch tv series more - current seasons of game of thrones, gotham, person of interest... they are now all in 1080p, dts/dd5.1.

Thanks for the heads up on "I am Wrath", planned on seeing it this weekend, but guess I'll pass and catch up on Scandals. It's taking most of my willpower to resist watching GoT till all 10 episodes are released. Good thing, about 6 weeks left.. biggrin.gif

Journey to the Seventh Planet (1962)

A Dutch/American production?

Supposedly on a USD 74,600 budget!! laugh.gif

The following are information I had extracted from IMDB

QUOTE
When officials at American International viewed the completed film, they decided that some of the Danish-produced special effects were so poor that they needed to be replaced. Two members of the independent special effects company Project Unlimited, Jim Danforth and Wah Chang, shot new footage to replace some of the Danish special effects. Some of the deleted footage was also replaced with tinted black-and-white monster footage from The Spider (1958).

So what I am trying to say is that The Martian (2015) and Gravity (2013) this is NOT!!!

Having said that, the story is actually decent, maybe with a much bigger budget, this could be an excellent movie. (or an good Twilight Zone episode maybe)

Strictly B Movie, but enjoyable (laughable) on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The Witch (2015)

This is Robert Eggers's first feature film as a director and he he did an amazing job.

His creates "spook" by telling a story.

No shock around the corner.

No suddenly loud music.

Just by telling a story.

He started out his profession as a set director.

This movie is set in the 1800s so, everything is authentic!!!

In an interview, he said he wanted his set design to invoke "smell"!! laugh.gif

Wow...

Still cannot get over how well this story is told

An it is more of a creepy/eerie feeling rather than a straight out fright!!

I don;t want to say too much about this.

Do not want to spoil it for you.

Really good movie!!

The Last Man on Earth (1964)

Well here is something I did not know until today.

For the lovers of the movie, I Am Legend (2007) is based on Richard Matheson's novel I Am Legend, this is the first movie adapted from the same book!

This movie stars Vincent Price!

Original Fritz Lang was supposed to have directed this (that would have been a different level of movie all together)

Do not watched this to see an old version of I Am Legend (2007).

Watch this if you are a fan of Vincent Price.

Hammer was supposed to have made this. They could not get approval from the British Censor, so the rights were sold to Robert Lippert (American Producer).

To save money, the film was shot in Italy with a predominantly Italian cast and crew.

Watched this is color, then only to notice I could have watched in it's original Black and White version (*groan*)

I love the camp!! laugh.gif

Although in I Am Legend, almost everyone is a vampire, here they are move zombie like!!

Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)

Like it's comic books counterpart, movie used to have anthology within itself.

What do I mean?

Take this for example. There are five story within this movie, with a main story tying everything together...

So this movie has these 5 short stories

Werewolf
Creeping Vine
Voodoo
Disembodied Hand (with a VERY young Michael Gough (Tim Burton's Batman's Alfred), whom I did not recognised and Christopher Lee!!)
Vampire (Youthful Donald Sutherland)

With Peter Cushing (Dr. Terror' / Dr. W. R. Schreck) tarot card reader's story tying everything together!!

Made by Amicus Productions (second largest Horror movie makers in England (Owned by Americans) outside of Hammer)

I missed these short story horror movies.

Maybe Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis could revive this format through their Dark Castle Entertainment production house.

Their remake of House on Haunted Hill (1999), Thir13en Ghosts (2001), Ghost Ship (2002), Gothika (2003) and House of Wax (2005) were quite enjoyable!!

Heidi (2015)

I know a little about Heidi's story. An orphan girl who was thrown on the laps of her grandfather, by her aunt.

I have watch some episodes of 1974 Hayao Miyazaki TV Series, and have to add not all of them.

Now, this Germany production is GORGEOUS!!!

I mean, GORGEOUS!!!

Supposedly on a budget of USD 8,800,000, money WELL spent!!

Anuk Steffen is perfect as Heidi!!!

The location shots BEAUTIFUL!!!

A fantastic family movie. Suitable for ALL ages.

Please note it is in German, and has English subtitle. Be advise

More movies like this should be made!!

An acclaimed writer, his ex-wife, and their teenaged children come to terms with the complexities of love in all its forms over the course of one tumultuous year. smile.gif

IMDB - 7.3/10 icon_idea.gif

This movie is realistic. There's a lot of emotions in it. Every love story comes with obstacle but the question is how can you fix it. A great movie on any afternoon! thumbsup.gif

An unstable escaped convict terrorizes a woman who is alone with her two children. sweat.gif

IMDB - 5.6/10 hmm.gif

This is a thriller movie. The villain played his role quite well not to mention violent and rage behaviour. At first I thought it was some random bad guy looking to terrorised some random victim but towards the end there's a suprising motive. However, I thought the victim acted too calm and some part of the movie just doesn't make sense! I'm not sure I agree with the IMDB rating and the outcome looks typical. No good deed might be no good enuff for me. Keyword - He's a great convincing liar! unsure.gif

A Muslim ex-con forms a friendship with his parole officer. innocent.gif

IMDB - 5.7/10 smile.gif

This was actually a remake movie of Jose Giovanni's 1973 "Two Men In Town" for your info. An ex convict trying to lead a normal life after given a second chance. The thing was what he did in his past related with the sheriff in town. Guess what? He murdered the sheriff's deputy! So you guys can imagine that situation but fortunately he had a strict but kind parole officer looking after him. In my opinion the title "Two Men In Town" didn't actually reflect a serious confrontation between the ex convict and the sheriff in this movie. Lack of serious intensity. It's more about the harassment and obstacle he's facing as an ex convict together with his past came back to haunt him. Overall the IMDB rating is slightly overrated but still not a bad movie on a Sunday afternoon. wink.gif

After getting in a car accident, a woman is held in a shelter with two men, who claim the outside world is affected by a widespread chemical attack. blink.gif

IMDB - 7.5/10 thumbsup.gif

This is a kickass thriller mystery sci-fi movie. I am caught between trust him and trust him not situation. John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead gave a powerful performance. I loved this movie because of it's trickiness, trivia and non stop suspense! There will be a lot of questions in your head as the movie moves forward. The ending might not be spectacular but at least the mystery in the story solved or perhaps not? I could watch this movie again! Highly recommended after midnight mood especially on a Saturday night! thumbup.gif
