triple 9 is a crime story film. the script is not very well written but the action and suspense is quite good. keeps u riveted to the seat for 2 hours.
star studded cast - Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years a slave), Aaron Paul (breaking bad), Norman Reedus (walking dead), Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. 3/5. ![]() |

![]() Mark Fisher disappeared from his home in a brilliant flash of blue light almost two years ago. His friend Seth Hampton was the last to see him alive. Now a string of grisly, violent murders leads Seth to believe that Mark is back, and something evil is inside of him. IMDB - 4.6/10 A decent B grade movie. The plot was just okay but lack of further explanation. I was left wondering UFO, alien or virus? For a low budget movie, I think I can't complain too much. The acting was fine although some of the special effect can be laughable. The brutal scenes were good. It's something like John Carpenter's The Thing but lesser suspense and decent acting. Overall if you're looking for a cheap quick thrill, you might just found it here. Do watch the extra scene after the credits. Part two on the way? The Uninvited (1944)
A ghost/horror movie made during WWII, and is the first that takes "ghost story" seriously (instead or camp/comedic). Quite well cast. Beautifully shot. Movie opens with a pair of carefree brother and sister, "discovering" a huge "abandon" mansion on a cliff, by the sea. On a spur, they made a ridiculous offer on the house to the owner of the house and surprisingly, they offer was accepted! They moved from the city (London) to the country side to their new mansion and soon befriended the original owner's grand daughter, who has a strange attachment to the mansion... Things soon goes bump in the dark? Interesting movie. Actually uses something that is widely copied in future ghost movie, ectoplasm, which is quite well done (not quite sure how they managed it back then). If you like old movies, give it a go. RED (2010)
I re-watched this recently and it does survive re-watching. Funny, clever and action packed. Wonderfully cast really!! Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Brian Cox, Helen Mirren, Richard Dreyfuss and Bruce Willis. My only concern is how to you get from directing this, to R.I.P.D. (2013) (I am looking at you Robert Schwentke!!!)???? If you like action movie, with a difference, give this a go My Two Sen. |

Risen (2016)
Joseph Fiennes (brother of Ralph Finnes) plays a Roman Tribune (Clavius), who is tasked with finding the missing body of an executed Jew (rumored to have risen from the dead). Hence the title. C.S.I. much.... To top it offer Draco Malfoy (erm I mean Tom Felton) plays a young Roman Centurian eager to prove himself. I found this tedious... My Two Sen. |

QUOTE(sherr127 @ May 23 2016, 01:17 PM) ah, i just noticed it has dts:x version! will have to get a new AVR, a new player soon enough! kill command is a weak syfy movie. it reminds u of terminator 3 and falling skies. the story is simple with a poor script but decent action. ok for syfy fans but it's not a movie u will remember for long. 2/5. ex-machina in comparison is way better despite less action. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: May 23 2016, 01:27 PM |

Hail Caesar !
By the Coen Brothers. Just like some of his older products, it has a unusual ending. I would call this a comedy, but mainly the film described a film producer's period of events that happened to his company. Despite its quirkiness, which is really part and parcel of the Coen's, I really do enjoy some part of the film, though I would think that some more conventional commercial produce of the Coens has better closure. Conclusion: a must watch for the Coen buff and enjoy every moment of it. ps: I really love the sailor dancing sequence. We don't get to see this nowadays. Trailer : |

gods of eqypt... an overdose of animation and special effects.
starring gerald butler, nick waldau (jamie lannister in game of thrones), geoffrey rush. i have to admit the costumes, sets and decor is dazzling... it is a fairly entertaining show! of course, hd audio makes it better too. 2.5/5. greek gods like zeus, kronos, poseidon, hades got popular in the titan series and immortals; egyptian gods ra, osiris, horus, anubis now get popular. next may be roman gods like jupiter, venus, apollo...?! ![]() nick cheung's latest... keeper of darkness is a decent horror-drama movie. it is not a true horror movie like the eye but is punched with a little romance and laughable moments. story is not bad, watchable but the special effects are a little poor. 2.5/5. ![]() This post has been edited by AVFAN: May 24 2016, 06:00 PM |
